Right in S Broad St. the location couldn't be any better with parking right in the front. I got the horchata it was so fresh and yummy. For small plates, we got the esquites and sweet plantains. The esquites was delicious. For the sweet plantains, they asked if we wanted the crema + queso fresco on the side but it still came on top. Plantains were alright, wasn't loving them though because they were drenched in the toppings. Kale salad was huge! Yummy and fresh. The food came out so quick. I love that they use corn tortillas for the tacos. The pork belly taco was drenched in kimchi, not my favorite but a good cut of pork belly. I like the lamb taco tasted just like a mini lamb gyro. The baja fish taco was my favorite though, it's comes in a huge slab. it was so good I ordered another. I love the chipotle sauce the Baja fish taco comes with too. Convenient for dine in or take out. We found the plantains to be well fried and deliciously sweet. The ribeye quesadilla was good chunks of beef, but while good quality, seemed to lack seasoning. Always have great food and service here. I always get the pork belly and fish tacos, incredible. This time I added from their specials and got the oyster and octopus. Don Rene is in my opinion the best restaurant in the downtown Milford area based on the high quality food and service you can receive. I've been here quite a few times and I am never disappointed, I've gotten the tacos and yucca fries before, delicious. On my recent visit I went with the Brown Rice Bowl and added lamb to my dish. Heaping portion with sliced bell peppers, corn and black beans. I also love their in house sauces you can add to any dish. Might seem slightly pricey but you are definitely getting quality portions. They gave me 3 long pieces of lamb that I couldn't get enough of, lean and tender of course. I happen to stop in with my mom today and this place always hits the spot. I haven't been here in quite some time so it was nice to be able to enjoy the food again and it tasted even better than I remember. The service was great and quick as well! I got the birria as always with the yuca fritas that are always good. My mom got the lamb which she loved and the pork belly it was a little too fatty to enjoy the whole taco but the flavor was good. My mom also wanted to try the corn bread and the coconut flan they were both delicious as well. Everything was great and I'll always come back. This little gem is located in downtown Milford. It is authentic tacos, they make the tortillas, the sauces are all house made, the food is fresh and delicious. Tacos are sold ala carte, they are small, but priced accordingly and you have the ability to try the many different kinds. All of them are great. The restaurant is set up like a deli. A long counter with 6 or 7 tables for a dining in option. The food is much better in house. Even though the take out service is efficient, I find that the tacos get a little soggy sitting in the box. This is a small taqueria located downtown. The ambience is like a luncheonette, not a romantic affair at all. I came on a Saturday night with a friend and we were fortunate to be seated immediately at the last available table. Service was also immediate and friendly. I felt as though they were anxious for us to order however we had some questions about the menu and so our server had to return to give us time to decide. Once served, and eating they scooped up our plates before the food even got to our mouths! This was unsettling as we felt rushed and that they needed the plates back as soon as the food was off of them. I ordered the shrimp ceviche that came with avocado and chips on the side . It was tasty however different than any I had before in that it was in a tomato base and seemed more like a gazpacho than ceviche. We each ordered a pear and beet salad which we liked and cornbread to share which was delicious. My friend had a chicken taco that was enjoyed. They don't serve liquor here so we were a bit disappointed that we didn't get to have a margarita to go with the food. Like I said, it appeared that they don't want you to linger. Visited my family over the weekend and was starving my the time I arrived to Milford, luckily I stopped by Don Rene on the way home for a yummy lunch and it did not disappoint! Another couple and ourselves were the only ones in the restaurant. For appetizers, we started with jerk chicken empanadas, which my fiancé said were the best empanadas he has ever had. I rarely if ever have judged a restaurant based on their portions. I feel if the food is outstanding, price and portions should not be disqualification for a high rating, however Don Rene Taqueria's portions are so small, and priced on the high end for Mexican food in this area, that I'm going against my own policy. The menu is quite small, and i'm not sure why. There are tacos, quesadillas, empanadas, a tiny appetizer and salad menu and that's about it. Everything we ordered was very tasty and well done, but portions were tiny, and presented on an aluminum sheet pan (strange choice) which even made the dishes seem smaller, if that's possible. It seems to me like they're trying to make the restaurant upscale, but it's simple Mexican food after all. There are at least three or four Mexican restaurants within five minutes of Don Rene Taqueria who serve food as good, with larger portions, and are less expensive, so I gave them only three stars. read more

Amazing tacos! My boyfriend and I love coming here. I'm vegan and I order their guacamole and cauliflower tacos. The guacamole and chips is awesome; super fresh and flavorful.
