Before I go into the repeated poor experience at Flipside, let me open with an opinion. Those were dry, hard, room temperature fries we were served tonight. Seriously, a burger place that doesn't put any effort into putting out a decent French fry. This is completely indicative of the disappointing experience that I've had yet again at Flipside. The last visit's highlight was the waitress that spilled hot soup on my 95 year old friend at lunch. Thank goodness she was kind enough to comp the soup. Tonight, the kitchen was out of the foods we ordered at 6:45pm. Was the kitchen ready for dinner service tonight? The Hostess ignored me, standing at the counter, but could see and speak to my associate standing behind me to ask how many were in her party. In retrospect I wish we had read the tea leaves at that point. Then we sat thru a mediocre meal for everyone at the table. We arrived in mid afternoon and requested an outside table. We put our name on the waitlist from a very friendly hostess and went to the bar to wait. We were greeted promptly and professionally by a friendly female bartender. She kept our waters full as we had been outside and were thirsty lol. The hostess came for us after apx 15 minutes and seated us at a nice four top on the covered deck. Our server arrived quickly and took our order. The wings came out quickly, cooked to order and so delicious. Our server was very attentive and we observed him having many tables/customers. My fiancée and I started things off strong with one of their huge margaritas (shared it, don't worry) and by the time we were done, we were both feeling pretty good. I had a burger and it was absolutely fantastic juicy, flavorful, cooked just right. The fries? Total perfection. Crispy, salty, exactly what you want next to a great burger. We used to go to the Fairfield location often when our kids were little. They decided they didn't like it though, so we stopped going. Now that they are older and eating more than just chicken fingers and fries, we decided to try it out again, but at the new location. Went for Sunday lunch and saw they had a margarita special on Sundays. As we were just off a flight from Cancun the night before, of course I needed another margarita. This place must be absolutely insane in the summer. In. Sane. It's in downtown Milford and you can see boats from their outside seating. Flipside does not have its own parking lot, but is near several lots including the library and a public lot behind it. If you park at the library, there's a small bridge going into the center of Milford, and VIOLA! You're at Flipside Burgers! If you park in the public lot, just go out the entrance carefully. It's so much faster - I took a side exit, had to take stairs out of the Exorcist, ended up in what may have been an apartment complex, and still had to walk around the darn building. Nope, just go to the car entrance, turn right. You're there. The food was varied but overall pretty good. The lobster bisque lacked any lobster. The fries were thin and had a nice bite to them. I tried the candy popper burger. The meat was well cooked (not well temperature), and the toppings were pretty tasty with a touch of sweetness. Carrots on a burger, who knew?Even more surprising - it reheats really well the next day. I just love this place. I haven't had a bad meal ever. Analise was our server and she was always around if needed but not hovering and super sweet. My first visit will not be my last. The menu has something for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans so everyone should be happy. My friend ordered fried zucchini to start while we looked at the menu. I am not a big fan of fried zucchini because they are usually mushy. i never had any that were crispy. These were the best i have ever had. crispy and they melted in my mouth. i would have preferred a spicier dip over the ranch dressing but it was fine. I ordered the house veggie burrata burger and it was delicious. They give options for more toppers and substitutes for the buns and fries that come with the burgers. We sat at the bar and even though the tender was the only one making cocktails she was very attentive and friendly. She made that margarita that was humongous! In addition to a greatmenu, this place has a large deck overlooking the harbor and large windows. Parking is a little tight but downtown Milford is a great place to walk. The most creative burgers I've ever seen! I've been going for years, used to drive down to their fairfield location and then when they opened milford I was SO excited! The candy popper burger with Cajun fries is the best!! Recently they added a Elvis fried chicken sandwich which is to die for! Our server was super helpful with helping us navigate the menu. I always design my own burger with their vegan burger patty, guacamole, onion, tomato, and lettuce on a pretzel bun. We had a truly amazing time at Flipside Burger, in Milford, CT! We stumbled upon it, while walking by at Milford Landing. So glad we went in! The food was incredible, the view was gorgeous and the customer service was the BEST of all. Let's start with the food. We ordered the glazed calamari, which was some of the tastiest calamari I've ever had - and I'm a half-Greek calamari connoisseur. : ) We also ordered the cauliflower panini with fries, which was terrific - and quite filling. (Don't let the gluten-free, vegetarian label scare you away -- it's both healthy AND filling.) And we also ordered the beet salad ~ everything was excellent. We couldn't finish it all, as the servings were so abundant. Secondly, we got to sit on the balcony and look out to the water, as well as some of the prettiest fall foliage we've ever seen. Last but def not least, Zane was our gracious host...and Analise "Annie" was our kind waitress. They both were so warm and welcoming, while still being effective and efficient. YAY! I have been to the Fairfield location and am super excited that this location in downtown Milford with a deck and view of the harbor is finally in use again. It is clear they put a lot of money into renovating and upgrading the space. The fire pit is a nice touch. I made reservations, which I recommend for peak times. We were 8 people seated right away and ordered up the nachos. They were good, but nothing overly special. My mac and cheese burger did not disappoint. It was more medium than medium rare, but it wasn't dry and was a high quality patty. The onion rings were perfectly crispy and delicious. I tried a bite of the Fairfield fire burger, and I think I will have to get that next time. Perfect amount of heat and flavor. The vegan and gluten free options may help this restaurant to stand apart from some of the others in town. My friend was impressed by her lettuce bun burger (you could actually pick it up and eat it with the lettuce bun) and side order of roasted beets. The macaroni salad was also enjoyed by another friend. Everyone in our group cleared their plates. The loaded popcorn dessert was different and very nice.
