Was here for a vendor event, where the extensive beer selection, accessed by self-service RFID cards, worked better in theory than reality. They measure the pours at each machine and it's quite interactive, but it felt like a bunch of the kegs were empty (so the corresponding dispensers were not working), and there were definitely some issues with the RFID system that they, to their credit, did get sorted out. Chips and guac are good and hard to mess up, the carne asada tacos were very good, the chicken tacos were pretty forgettable. 3.5 stars. Tempted to rate higher but they seem to promise a bit more than they delivered.

This is one of those places that used to be really good, but has since lost its passion for truly distinctive barbeque. The decor is exactly what you'd anticipate from a restaurant thats been so many different things in the past 70 years. First it was a large restaurant, then it was a diner/drivethru then something else and now they've settled on a ribs house. The ribs were good, but they weren't fall off the bone good. They were cooked but not slow cooked. There's a totally definitive difference. The servers are all over you but mostly because I went in on a slow Friday afternoon. The food is somewhat salty and everything comes with fries. I did the sample platter and it was small. Their onion rings however are beer battered and come the size of your head. Those are worth money. Overall three stars, but let's see what else Merced may have to offer in the near future. read more

Since moving here 5 years ago, my husband and I have been on the hunt for the best breakfast place in town. After always seeing a packed parking lot in the morning, we finally got around to trying the BBQ pit today. The food was excellent (best biscuits and gravy and hashbrowns in town for sure), well priced (even the kids' meals which are usually grossly overpriced for the small servings), and served quickly. The service was the best in Merced. The building is older, but this is to be expected in that part of town. It was clean and well maintained. My husband's omelet was delicious, and was also served with a generous amount of "extras" like hashbrowns and pancakes. Coffee was great and my cup was never more than half empty. We will be back for sure! Can't wait to try it for dinner! read more

I heard from neighbors that this place was really good. I live in atwater, so I decided to drive all the way to merced. I was dissapointed. would have given them 1 star but service wasn't bad. This is one of my favorite spots to get a steak, a burger or ribs and bbq tri tip. Today I got a the Taster Special and it was a lot of good food. I ate it all, even though it's enough for two people. My mom got the Senior Petite Sirloin. It's 6oz for $7.99 with fries and fresh sauteed veggies. It's a pretty good deal.
