Gem in Atwater! You can easily drive past it if you're driving through downtown Atwater but it's a gem when you find it. Dining inside definitely feels like grandma's kitchen. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food comes out quick. Coffee is always topped. The chicken fried steak is a popular dish and so delicious with the gravy on top. The side of home fries is perfect. The sausage and egg breakfast is also really good with a side of pancakes. The meat lover's omelet is also a great choice. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the breakfast options. What an amazing little gem. I found this place traveling from Sacramento to Arizona by looking at Yelp for a place to get breakfast. Right off highway 99. The place is definitely a local favorite. I felt like I was home. Super friendly service and plentiful portions. Very cozy inside with plenty or seating. They kept my coffee cup full. I ordered chicken fried and eggs with pancakes. This will now be a regular stop for me as I frequently travel between Carmichael and Madera. It is as good as it gets. On my next trip I brought my wife in. She was in full agreement. Minus one star only because the place is dated and kind of dark and the carpet looks as if it's been there for decades - but don't let that stop you. Our to-go turkey and avocado sandwiches were indeed just like Grandma would make for you in her kitchen. They were hard to to eat in the car, as mayo, avocado, sprouts, and tomato gooshed out the sides of soft wheat bread with seeds. Don't take out the toothpick holding it together until you have to! But the fries - oh, my goodness, the fries! Some of the best I've ever had in my long life. They're coated with light seasoning and are crunchy outside, soft within. I ignored my usual calorie concern and scarfed them down - no catsup needed. The husband also liked his sweet potato fries. We were traveling, but I'd love to come back to try to other things on the not extensive, but varied enough menu. And it's just a short way off Highway 99. Go for it! read more

Me and my buddy came here for breakfast and were not disappointed! Service was great, our coffee cups were constantly topped off. We both ordered eggs Benedict which had a cheesy hollandaise sauce. It was great. The atmosphere inside of the restaurant is great. It feels like you're inside of an old house with historic pictures on the wall and little knickknacks. We arrived to this place for Breakfast, I was stunned and the condition of this place. It is a small mom and pop restaurant but could truly use a cleaning. I sat down and tried to pull out a chair to put my purse on but found spider webs all over, the table was not cleaned and it's a lot of Clutter in the restaurant. I was confused by the I love Lucy memorabilia everywhere. The staff were very welcoming and the food came out quickly, I couldn't really eat due to the condition of this place. The person I was with throughly enjoyed his food and thought everything tasted great. The price was very reasonable but I wouldn't return. read more

Service was good but the food and anbiance was not. The restaurant was very stuffy and grease filled the air so the smell was not pleasant when walking through tot he backyard. The biscuits were very dry and hardly any gravy was pour over them to soak up the dried biscuit. The gravy was very think with hardly any flavor. Tasted mostly like flour. Chicken fried steak was very chewy with hardly any flavor and the gravy ontop didn't help since it was flavorless. Old school kinda breakfast spot with some very amazing and accommodating ladies who I've been blessed to have as waitresses. I really haven't stopped by or wanted to for a few years because of 1 rude/blunt older waitress, but noticed she wasn't there anymore, some the others were but the whole atmosphere was more welcoming this couple times we went.. love their French toast and their very nice enough to separate my toast and fruit when asked, without any questions, came by check on us and if it want out waitress, one of the other waitress who were not so busy checked on us.. thank you for making this place my favorite spot for breakfast now! Staff very friendly and kept checking on us. It's a hole in the wall, we lived in this area for 30+ years, and just just found it in 2025. We've been back many times, trying each dish. I decided on linguicia and eggs with hashbrowns and a side of pancakes, my husband is on a eggs Benedict kick and decided to order that . ... so we both had different feelings on our dishes .. mine was delicious!!! The linguicia was cooked perfect and u get alot . Now my husband's well he wasn't a fan , the hollandaise sauce was like cheese sauce with zero flavor , not like a hollandaise sauce. Had a bad morning and I wanted to find a peaceful place to have breakfast with my son. I'm not from the area so the name caught me and it was not just a name. I walk in and wait at the register to get seated and they look at me like a grandmother would. Crazy because I should of just came in and sat where ever I felt comfortable. The decorations are amazing and it felt like a family kitchen that had 50 kids. The food was simple and amazing, the right price, and the coffee was hot. My mom and I stopped by here as we were driving through the area. Nice, small location and I loved all the decor inside...especially the I Love Lucy section. Everywhere you turn looks like a very well-curated flea market. Staff was super friendly and our food came out quick! Breakfast here was so-so. I got the Californian Omelet (avocado, mushroom, tomato, and cheese) and home fries with a side of hot cakes. The omelet was super cheesy, which I appreciate, but even with salt and pepper there was no flavor. The hot cakes were meh. This place is awesome!! The biscuits and gravy are a must try! The flavors in the gravy are spot on with great seasoning that you would expect it to have. I ordered the Ham and Cheese Omelette and had Home Fries as my side. The omelette had big cubes of diced ham which really made my food palate happy. I can't say enough about this place.
