The place is always busy, good for them... it closed for awhile, but reopened under new ownership. The food is fairly tasty, but the portions are a bit sad, I'm looking at you tiny tacos. The service can be spotty. Our waitperson took our drink order, we went back and forth, she was confirming I wanted no salt on my marg. I literally told her 4 times, no salt. 5 minutes later I get a drink slathered in salt. Okay, I asked for another glass, and the waitress said, "I'm pretty sure you said salt" okay. Then I order another drink. I specify, nicely, definitely no salt. She puts my second drink down, loaded with salt. Is it really that hard? The week before I ordered a burrito which was supposed to come with rice and beans. Oooops, never came. I asked for the rice and beans, the waiter said "no problem" - but I never received them. He had one other table. But they will be fine without me. They have people waiting for tables outside most of the time. BTW, the burrito was very tasty. But I think the waiters must be vaping in the kitchen lol ... the waitstaff is nice, but it's always nice to have your order correct, and definitely not the same mistake made twice. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. The manager was overwhelmed and decided to take it out on me when I asked for silverware. He repeatedly embarrassed me by loudly saying I was acting like a child in front of my entire work party. I did nothing but politely ask. I had a great experience at Bar Bruno in Brooklyn. The drinks were super yummy and come in a cool glass. We got maragaritas and I love that you can customize them so much. I got spice in both of mine and one with mango and another with mango and passion fruit. Would come back again just for the margs. The dessert nachos were so good and pretty and such a unique idea for a dessert I loved it. The "chips" are coated with cinnamon and sugar and it comes with ice cream and fruit and chocolate. So fun to eat it too. I got the cheesy potato bites and they were delicious as well. Very flavorful and the sauce was great. Service was okay but could've been a bit better. First time at this spot. There was a kids birthday party happening in the back on a Saturday evening. We were told it would be ending in 15 minutes. We walked around and got coffee. It was still going on when we got back. We sat at the bar and thugged it out. The nachos have kale and some mushrooms. I think they left off the meat, which we did not ask for. I think they need to let people know what is in the nachos. We were confused. They were tasty but definitely not as described. The wings were good. The margarita was fine. We started off with a Classic Margarita ($15) and Brooklyn Lager ($8). The Margarita was a bit too strong for me, but it came in a cool skull glass cup. I also wish that it wasn't an extra $2 charge for flavor and spice, which seems unfair. For food, we weren't too hungry and got one dish to share. We ordered the Chopped Cheese Wrap ($20), which was essentially a restaurant version of a Crunchwrap supreme. I love crunchwraps and I love chopped cheese, so this combo was perfection. We ordered both the Neymar Nachos and the Dessert Nachos and both were pretty good. The Neymar Nachos had a nice mix of creaminess and tang, and the meat was pretty tender. Should have looked at the reviews that said it's a better place for drinks. Neymar nachos were good for an atypical nacho person like myself. No beans, but some sort of mushroom thing instead? Very tasty. The burger was made well with high quality meat but not necessarily unique to the place. The birria "pizza" was an interesting concept, but having a basically a full quesadilla with cheese inside and out as the base got to be a bit much and too oily altogether. Plus dipping into the consume was cumbersome and essentially only worked when the pizza slice became taco shaped. Also the tables outside were definitely too small to accomodate all the food. We used to love this place but we were disappointed yesterday. 2 stars for the really delicious fish tacos but I actually left without even finishing my (fairly average) drink due to the rude bar man. I was on my own so I sat at the bar and he was rude from the moment I sat down. He was clearly having a bad day (not my fault) but ya know, we all have bad days so I ignored his sour face and the fact he threw the menus in front of me and rolled his eyes when i asked a question about something on the menu. I had my drink, ate the tacos and he asked if i wanted anything else so i asked for the check but i was only half way through drink so clearly wasn't ready to go. But he hovered over me until i paid it. Like i was going to run out the door. I gave him 15% tip because at that stage i was severely sick of his attitude, and he said: "are you sure about that miss?" I assume that he was referring to the fact I didn't give him 20% and I said: yes I am. And he grunted at me and walked away. So I left, without finishing my drink. Each order comes with three tacos which was definitely the perfect portion size. The flavors were was chef kisses -Carnitas Tacos (also comes with a side of fries). I did not think that I would like these as much as I did since I am not a huge fan of carnitas most of the time but the flavors were amazing and the meat was very tender and not dry at all. I still preferred the fish tacos but these were pretty good. The pancakes looked amazing when we saw other tabs getting it but there is a small wait for those. The ambiance cradles you in its warm embrace and the staff is warm, welcoming and attentive. On our first visits we indulged in a taco trio featuring steak, fish and shrimp--a true palate pleaser. This time around, we explored their dinner menu. We started with GUACAMOLE and PLANTAINS, then moved on to the CHOPPED CHEESE WRAP, BURGER TACOS and QUINOA VEGGIE BURGER. Our dinner ended with the FLAN and DESSERT NACHOS. Guacamole is not my usual pick but the pumpkin seeds made it an adventurous choice and it was flavorful. The Plantains was the perfect harmony of sweet and savory. And could easily become the ultimate side dish instead of a mere appetizer. The Chopped Cheese Wrap was a mouthwatering blend of deliciousness. The pepper jack cheese and abundance of onions makes it a MUST-ORDER. The Quinoa Veggie Burger is a vegetarian delight. It tasted so good I momentarily forgot it was meatless. But the crown jewel of the evening? Big menu including all your typical Mexican dishes, and some other cool items like a chop cheese wrap, and cheeseburger tacos. I went with a Mexican stir fry and added chicken and rice. Bartender Sabrina kindly greeted me and handed me my to-go order that was on the counter. Scanning the bar area inside caused me to see a cocktail/wine menu near some frozen beverage machines. After inquiring about the various drinks, Sabrina mentioned that Bar Bruno makes frozen margaritas, mezcal drinks, etc. She also explained that flavors can be added to the frozen drinks....Yes to that! Sabrina made me the best Blueberry, Strawberry and Pineapple Frozen Margarita Ever!!! Great Food and Great Drinks! Fast Forward to 7/20 and I decided to have us come here for my birthday dinner. We sat at the outdoor table that is by itself around the corner from the other tables which made me feel comfortable. We ordered Fish Tacos, Carnitas (Pork) Tacos, Tater Tots, Side Orders of Rice + Beans, a Quinoa Veggie Burger, Grilled Zucchini, etc. The tacos and burger were flavorful and Mango Margarita was nice and sweet. I had another Blueberry, Strawberry and Pineapple frozen Margarita like I had the other day and it tasted amazing! Due to the Pandemi/Health Crisis, Bar Bruno will continue to offer outdoor dining as well as the option for patrons to pick-up and take-out their food/beverage orders. Every staffperson wore masks, gloves and our dining food, cocktails and plastic utensils were served in disposable packaging like cartons, plastic, etc which was much appreciated to promote cleanliness. Bar Bruno is an excellent neighborhood restaurant and bar. Located at the corner of Henry & Union Streets in Carroll Gardens, it seems always busy. Still a table seems to always be found. Only a block from my family's home, it is a regular spot for us to eat. Enter to a busy bar area. Tables are in the bar area or further back, away from the noise. Sidewalk tables are available for warmer times. The decor is modern and clean. The music was nice. I heard songs from my generation, which is a definite plus. Mexican with additions of American can be found on the menu. The food is excellent, both well prepared and presented. My favorite is the Bruno Burrito, which has just the right mix of rice, beans & tomato. Addition choices are available. My pick is always carnitas. It makes for the perfect burrito. The side salad that comes with the burrito is yummy. My grandson loves the Skirt Steak with fries and veggies grilled on a skewer. They also have Vegan options, which appeal to my son. For dinner or drinks in the neighborhood, it's hard to beat Bar Bruno. read more

Came here recently and it just wasn't the same that I remember. It's the first time i've dined here since the pandemic (i did drinks to-go kind of often at the beginning of the pandemic), and ate here before, and it just seemed different. We started with two classic margarita's and they were okay, not amazing, not terrible. I do miss the old happy hour deal on them, which understandably now, they do not do. For appetizer we got the Bruno Sliders and the Neymar Nachos. The sliders were just okay, they needed some seasoning, and the buns were soggy, wasn't a great presentation. The Neymar Nachos on the other hand, were quite good. Nice amount of toppings, the only real critique here is that the ground beef needed seasoning, otherwise this was a nice appetizer. For meal, we ordered a mix of things and shared, and nothing really stood out. We found everything underwhelming. The one good thing is if you want delivery you don't have to use Seamless or Grubhub so you can speak to a person. Would give 4.5 stars if I could. This has become a staple in my diet lol I come here at least 1-2 times a week. We always order the kale dip which is SO GOOD. I love their chicken burrito and their margaritas are some of the best I've ever had. I always get blood orange and it's just so tasty. Their smoked wings are amazing also but a little too spicy for me. I usually get the burger but there definitely is inconsistently in how it is cooked/prepared. Sometimes I've ordered it and the cheese isn't even melted at all. Other times I'll order it medium rare and it comes out well done. Their prices are a little high in my opinion but clearly that doesn't stop me from coming here every week lol. Grabbed dinner here with an old friend around 5:30pm on a Friday night and the outdoor seating area already looked packed! Despite that, the waiter was able to seat us right away. They used plants to help social distance the tables, which also made it seem like we were in our own world. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos and my friend ordered the battered fish tacos. We also ordered shishito peppers to share. I got a strawberry juice (didn't know that was a thing) and my friend ordered a mango margarita. I didn't see any happy hour specials as an FYI. The waiter that served our food wore a mask and gloves which I appreciated. My shrimps tacos were well seasoned and cole slaw and mango salsa elevated the flavors. I tried the fish taco but unfortunately it was lacking in taste. The shishito peppers were pretty good but a bit oily in my opinion. My strawberry juice was good but it wasn't anything special. Really solid dish with unique ingredients (pumpkin seed) and spices (unknown) vs. the traditional overpowering flavor of lime, jalapeno, and sea salt (get's boring after a while, folks). The homemade chips were delicious, thick, and extra-crunchy. Next up, we split an order of the Fish and Shrimp Taco's (three per order). The portion sizes were impressive and the seafood was perfectly cooked. We opted for a side of french fries (yum) and rice. Once seated, my friend and I ordered. We couldn't decide on drinks so we got to taste their cucumber based frozen drink.
