We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday. We sat outside and ordered a sangria and a beer as well as some chips and guacamole to start. They do offer a $20 bottomless mimosa and sangria deal during brunch (although didn't opt for that this time). Our drinks and chips arrived at the same time. The sangria was very good (and strong) and would recommend. We had gone for the spicy guacamole and it was great, with just the right amount of spice. We decided to share the taco board and the pork tostada. The portions were generous and this was more than enough food to share. Everything we tried was delicious and I loved that the tortillas were corn tortillas (really makes such a difference). The only sight disappointment was the fish taco, nothing bad but it just wasn't as flavorful as everything else. One area for improvement would be that the service was a little slow. They were very busy though so it may have just been a one off. Our total bill, including tax and tip, was $125 (which we thought was reasonable for the quality of food). This place hit in several ways that I wasn't expecting. Firstly, we got seated at the circular couch section in the back and felt like total VIPs the whole time. Then the chips and guac came and I was taken aback by how good the chips were! They were crunchy and substantial with just the right amount of salt. And when it came time for entrees, for some reason I felt compelled to order something I almost never get--veggie enchiladas with mole sauce. They were so good and hearty! Everyone in my 5-person group had a lovely time at Los Dos Hermanos, thanks in large part to the very helpful staff that treated us so well. This was an interesting little place I have to say. It is certainly not your typical Mexican restaurant. Buttt I do think it has much to offer. Food: 8/10. They don't sell burritos which is the greatest sin ever made BUT they did have burrito bowls which was pretty good, I got a nice amount of guac which is always appreciated. It came with brown rice which I wasn't expecting but we need to get skinny for summer so no complaints here. The Nachos were epic!! Super big and filling, it needed more cheese in my opinion but it was still yummy. Drinks:7/10 the drink menu is very short which is not typical of a Mexican restaurant and there were no frozen options which breaks my heart but the bartender made me a mojito off menu so i was content. They give you lots of meat for your steak burrito bowl and the enchiladas are super cheesy and yummy. The flavors are really tasty and would recommend getting the salsa and guacamole with chips. Los Dos Hermanos is a cute restaurant on a shady, tree-lined block in Brooklyn. A friend and I were looking for a place to have a food drink and she remembered this place. I'm glad she did! We decided to sit outside since it wasn't too hot. They still have the outdoor structure built with flowers and greenery draping the wood structure. Very cozy! The server came over quickly and made the suggestion for a special they had for the day. The dragonfruit margarita. We decided on those and an order of spicy guacamole. Both were amazing! The margaritas were strong (we had 3 a piece) and the guacamole was spicy but not over the top. I glanced at the menu and there were lots of yummy sounding options to choose from. I don't often leave bad reviews anywhere. But it's hard to find a truly terrible dining experience in Fort Greene and Los Dos Hermanos was downright awful. The quality of food, and care for ingredients and flavor, was pure yuck. There's a reason why there so many bad reviews on here, which I wish we had checked before dropping $100+ on dinner. My friend and I came here on a Friday night for dinner and drinks and left scratching our heads how something was THAT terrible. Let's start with the prices, which seemed inflated. A michelada was $14 and very small ginger beer was $5. But whatever, that was the first red flag, not a game changer. Then we ordered chips and guacamole + pico. Did we want that spicy? We sure did. What came out was a flavorless, mild plate of unloved food. We both ate some of it and said to ourselves: that's not spicy, right? But since one of us was more of a mild fan anyway, we just rolled with it. It just didn't particularly taste like anything. This was the second red flag. And then came the entrees: chicken enchiladas and steak enchiladas. Again, the lack of love in this food was obvious. The flavor was just not there and the consistency of the tortillas was gummy and strange. And I'm not sure how you mess up rice and beans but the rice wasn't cooked properly and the beans were kinda watery. At this point, we both started to look at each other and say: this is pretty bad, isn't it? It wasn't inedible, but it was completely seasonless and lacked care. I'm not the type to send something back, and by no means do I have a delicate palate that demands excellence, but I cannot stress enough that you would get a better meal at a chain restaurant. Even a first time cook might do better than this. I'm not sure what is going on at this place. Everything seemed totally off. The service wasn't bad, it just lacked care. The food was edible, but I don't think that's the baseline for anyone who's dining out. I'm sure if you dug a little deeper you'd find a serious problem behinds the scenes that explains this experience. We didn't complain or send the food back because it seemed so off-base that it couldn't be fixed. We didn't leave a bad tip because it's certainly not the fault of the server. More than anything it was shocking that anyone thought it was ok to send out food of that quality. We just wanted to get the check and go. And never, never come back. read more

This is my 2nd time here and I have to say. It is consistent. It was exactly like the first time I came here in the best way. Ordered some of the same things (cheese enchiladas and wings). I have also had the churros, chorizo burrito bowl, and Al Pastor tacos. Both times I went, the place was super empty and quiet. SERVICE WAS 10/10 both times as well. Great staff and owner! MY FAVORITE THING HERE IS THEIR WINGS. I know weird but they have the best spicy wings I have had in NYC and I have tried a lot. Their cheese enchiladas are great! Lots of it with lots of beans and rice. The burrito bowl was filled with MEAT. which I loved! The Churros with ice cream were super fresh and tasty. I also had a couple cocktails which are strong and yummy. I will say my least favorite item was the al pastor tacos. Not flavorful in my opinion. I WILL BE BACK FOR BRUNCH WITHOUT A DOUBT. Read a few positive reviews about this spot and was very much looking forward to an enjoyable Friday dinner ... but instead, my date and I unfortunately wasted over $100 on an incredibly mediocre meal this evening. We sat down and waited at least 10 minutes for a server to bring us water (they weren't THAT busy). Waited another 15 minutes for our two beers to arrive. Waited another 10 minutes for our guac and chips to come out. The guac was fine (no frills), pico was good with a little kick (a bit watery though), but the chips weren't exactly chips??? I don't even know how to explain what it was that we were eating, but they tasted a bit like cardboard. After waiting at least 30 minutes for our mains to come out, we asked for more water and two more beers (our glasses had been empty for awhile) -- the water took 15 minutes to arrive, and the beers, about 25 minutes. We also weren't given napkins or silverware until we asked for them after our food had been set on the table and the server was walking away (???). The tacos were subpar, at best. We got the Al Pastor and Chorizo and I would never ever order either again -- they lacked any flavor and were overpriced for the low quality. We also ordered the Steak Tostadas, which were a huge disappointment. They arrived cold, slightly soggy, and there was hardly any steak on them (and the steak that was on them was flavorless). We did not finish any of the dishes we'd ordered -- half of the tacos and almost all of the tostadas were still on our plates. We asked for the check twice, and it took 15-20 minutes for someone to bring it to us (we actually set a timer, as a joke). We were asked if we'd like to take the food home (... ha), but not once were we asked if we'd actually enjoyed our meal, which would be a commonly asked question at any other restaurant after seeing how little we actually ate. Both the food and service left a LOT to be desired. The servers were nice, yet very clearly inexperienced and were frazzled the entire evening. We still tipped 20%, but it was a very disappointing experience as a whole, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I decided to check out this spot on a Friday night after walking by a few times. It looked cute with an ok vibe. Plus as a person with an autoimmune disease that necessitates me to be gluten-free, Mexican food is typically a cuisine that I can eat without fear of being sick for days after ingesting it. Especially if I am careful and ask all the questions I need to ask to save me from days of intestinal fortitude - specifically, "Is this gluten-free?" And/or "is this corn?, and also, "this doesn't have flour in it, right?" So my companion and I headed here on a Friday night. It was not too crowded, and we were immediately seated. This was GREAT as I was pretty hungry. The menu was typical for an NYC Mexican restaurant, including the prices which essentially means mid-priced but just on the border of being unacceptable for what you are about to order. A server approached, and I went about my usual m.o. of deferring any service until I had scoped the menu to find anything that COULD be gluten-free. It appeared that there were several items that could be gluten-free (chips and guac, tacos, taco salad, etc...). Even so, when the eager server approached again with another server in tow (training?), I specifically asked, "is there anything on your menu that is gluten-free?" She seemed 100% confused by the question, but then conferred with her cohort who told her what that meant and said "let me go check." Ok, GREAT. Checking is a good sign. In short order, she and her buddy returned and assured me several items were gluten-free, and then went on to point them out. GREAT! We ordered chips and guac (corn chips I was told) and I got the chorizo tacos on corn tortillas. My companion also got a margarita which I said I'd sample prior to ordering my own (#trueintention), and some bowl of something or another for him. So, after maybe 10 min the margarita comes, and admittedly, it is pretty good. I would have ordered one if anyone would have come to see if I wanted to. Meanwhile, we are waiting for our chips and guac. And waiting. And waiting. But whatever. They were not THAT busy but it's fine. Then the chips and guac come and we start eating. To be honest, the guac was yummy, but the chips had the taste of a peace corp worker's unwashed armpit PLUS they were kind of soggy. Still, we were eating them because well.... What are you gonna do? And then, out of nowhere, this dude comes over and says 'excuse me - does someone here have a gluten allergy?", and my heart sinks. Because then I know that I have just been poisoned and I'm probably pretty screwed for a few days. Also if I were to be sick for a few days there are WAY BETTER FOODS I could have sacrificed myself for (Graziella's pizza, Evalina's anything). Alas, this dude "the manager" affirms the truth that yes, those soggy armpit chips DO have flour in them. So yes, I am officially going to be sick for a while. And do I want them to "specially" make me some corn chips that are gluten-free? NO. I'd like you to educate your servers or to have told me in the first place that this food IS NOT GLUTEN FREE so that I don't have to be sick for days after eating at your subpar restaurant. Long story short, of course, I stopped eating the armpit chips. Though they sat there smelling like a blooming onion until we FLAGGED someone down to take them away. There were numerous other disappointing mishaps of the night, not the least of which was me receiving my tacos which also did not appear to be or taste like gluten-free tortillas. Also, they were the saddest tacos I have ever seen. I have pets and their food that I scoop out of a bag has more juicy appeal than these tacos did. Everything was completely overpriced for what it was. Other highlights included other random servers approaching our table with the wrong orders. Sitting there without water and nobody coming to fill it. And then the finale, one employee said that they would take their mistakes off the bill but didn't. So my companion had to flag them down to do so after I left to go home to eat. I dunno. It's probably not going to make you sick to eat here for days unless you have a food allergy. But the food was not good anyway, and the service was a disaster. read more

When we arrived there were 2 tables open so it was a bit busy but nothing out of sorts for a Saturday night in Fort Greene. We were seated and ordered our beers - but then waited and waited. We ordered a beer with queso fundido with chorizo; to which we waited 15 min then asked to reorder because it never arrived. During this time we also weren't asked to order another round even though our glasses were near empty. When the queso arrived, there wasn't any chorizo; it was forgotten entirely. We placed our food order with one server, then another server came to confirm it about 10 min later, and after 30 I asked where our food was to a man I assume was the owner, and he said he would put it in. Then he left - like literally left, and not sure if he actually did anything. Meaning we had to wait another 20 min for our food. Then when we received our bill, we we were not surprised to see that we were still charged for the chorizo and there was no apology for the errors nor customer service. I attended the brunch at Los Dos Hermanos and was served by David who shared at the beginning of our dining experience that we (my dining partner and I) had just made it for Sunday Brunch and that he would honor the brunch prices. It felt like a bait and switch! The drinks were super weak and the food didn't taste authentic. When it was time for the bill, David didn't own up to his error in falsely advertising a drink special that he has no intention of honoring. I had one of the best times here while visiting New York, after a long day of touring the city this was the best place to end the day in Brooklyn, first of all I wasn't expecting the food to be this good, I was surprised with all the flavors! If you love latin food, this is your place. It tastes like home 100%, I had the torta de milanesa and looooved the touch of the black beans on it, is like the cherry on top of the cake. I wish I had a picture of the food but it was so good I couldn't wait for the picture. Not to mention the amazing treatment I received from the bartenders, they were friendly and fun, and took detailed attention of how I wanted my drinks, and exceeded all expectations! One of the worst dining experiences I've had in 8 years of living in New York. We decided to eat here because we were in a hurry, but it took an hour and ten minutes for our food to come. Literally every other table in the restaurant was having the same awful experience that we were. The server would walk through the restaurant periodically and say, to every single table, "Your food is coming," which was obviously BS. The apparent owner would also walk through and ask, "Is everything okay?," to which all the patrons would say, "We're waiting for our food." My food finally came after an hour--with no apology or indication of when my partner's food would come. He went inside to try and talk to someone after another ten or so minutes, and saw his meal (which cost $20) sitting on the kitchen window. We ate our cold food with empty water glasses, paid in cash (because we couldn't stomach the thought of waiting another 20 minutes just to pay), and left--almost an hour and a half after we walked in. I've never written a bad yelp review before, but I feel obligated to warn other potential patrons. DO NOT EAT HERE. The food was not nearly good enough to justify the prices, terrible service, and lost time. read more

Came here for a quick bite and it turned into an hour and a half of waiting for one order of BBQ wings. Finally the wings come out and theyre buffalo so after waiting an hour I sent it back and asked for my check. The server who was a guy said no problem check will be right out and everything is taken care of. 20 mins later our original server comes and asks us hows the food and if we got the wings yet. Just terrible communication, very slow restaurant and they cant handle simple orders or communication. Left really disappointed for waisting all my time there. Can't comment on food or drinks... because after 2 HOURS... no one had so much as even gotten us water. We left. Btw we had a reservation but still had to wait an hour to even be seated. Then an hour later from that, we realized time to cut our losses. A) It was not that busy. B) loads of open tables. C) we repeatedly flagged down servers and the host and again requested service, only to be told each time it would happen any second! D) no one even ever once apologized. It was a beautiful weekend in summer, and this place was empty. That should've been my first indicator that this was not the place to be for tasty food and amazing drinks. It was NOT authentic Mexican food and drinks. The Mojito tasted artificial, and the Sangria was even worse, it had a somewhat bitter taste to it, like the wrong type of wine was used. The avocado had an overwhelming amount of lemon in it. I know lemon preserves guac, but this hefty amount just doesn't taste good. Nothing we ordered tasted good. We asked for the check, only to see that the prices we were charged did not match the prices labeled on the physical menu or the online menu. I respectfully brought this to the server's attention. He apologized, acknowledged the mistake, and then refused to change it! Absurd and ridiculous. So the food and drinks were awful, AND they still robbed me. Nice. I will never return, fool me once. This place seems warm & inviting, the staff seems really nice, but in reality it's crap at every level aside from drinks that you can get anywhere else. Except for Mexican street corn, EVERYTHING on the menu contains cilantro (even the flipping rice!) or is 75% cheese with meat, that has no tomatoes or onions because they can leave the cilantrofilled pico off the food, but they are incapable of cutting an onion or a tomato?!? Are you kidding me? As a server, in over 10 years of working in restaurants I've never been incapable of taking two minutes when I had one table to cut something up for a customer. You literally only have to move a knife up and down 10 times. I didn't need it cubed or anything just slice it and give it to me so I can make the food taste halfway decent... I was flabbergasted, but I hadn't eaten all day in the sun, so I order the corn... it has so much lime juice in the mayo it's all you taste - gross. I ate it because I needed to get something on my stomach after starting my drink (I'd ordered guac that I was assured would be made without cilantro BEFORE we decided to stay/drink & guess what?). I learned most of the menu leaves out ingredients that completely change the taste of the food- why?!? Let people know what they are actually ordering. This isn't a taco truck, figure out how to do basic food prep & don't combine cilantro with every onion & tomato you cut up - you can always combine them later! 25% of the population tastes your food as it is and it tastes like it is rotten because of the cilantro. Orrrr learn how to train your staff to give customers something that would take 2 minutes of their time instead of smiling & nicely explaining how they are incapable of doing their job for 10 minutes or asking the kitchen to do its job. Thennnnn, I asked for a check & she came up to me with a digital swipe machine to pay her as though it's Sept 2020. I said oh can I have a check & she said oh you can see the bill right here. Up till then, I'd still have given 25% on a bill that is 75% drinks for terrible food & service. I was splitting the check with a friend & she stood there thinking it was acceptable behavior to be a hall monitor while we figured out the check. We didn't ask to pay you - we asked for a check with our drinks still half full, so we could figure it out on our own time not when this smiling, 75% useless server decided we should. So I left her 18% & gave her cash - she said ok, you wanted a recipe. And I said yes... I'd asked for a paper check three times... but ok, print it when I don't need it. THEN she had her co-worker being back a book you normally give people with a check in it to leave cash or the signed credit card recipt in. The check she's been "unable" to print was there AND she gave me back the 18% tip back in it down to the penny. I nearly took out all the cash & left her the pennies.
