I stopped here to look at the treats and everything was delicious. I bought some macarons and chocolates. Everything was fresh and tasty. The aesthetics were beautiful. The store itself was bright and clean. The service was slow, but I think one person may have been in training. The other lady was really sweet and welcoming. I would recommend!
After watching a show on the arena, we were craving some sweets and stumbled upon Bar Cocoa. The little coffee and cakes shop has a variety of coffees, cakes, gelato, etc. The prices are a lot more reasonable than I expected, knowing that it is connected to the Ritz Hotel. I ordered a pistachio gelato and an apple macaron. The small gelato was really big, even for the small size, If I had known i would probably have asked for two flavors. The gelato was good but not amazing, I got tired of it half way thorough, which is a problem I don't typically have with Gelato. My macaron was not great either, it was kind of crumbly, my companion had the raspberry one and that was great, I think the apple cream was not as good as the raspberry jelly. My favorite part was being able to hang out in the fancy Ritz Carlton hotel while eating ice cream.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed my latte and cup cake. Their prices was cheaper than most places. Cup cakes were moist and the frostings were not too sweet
Oh how I love this little sweet shop, they have chocolate, they have cookies, they have gelato, they have cupcakes, they have all my favorites and oh yeah coffee too. My absolute fav are the cookies, which are baked in house and vary daily and yes they are addictive. The gelato sometimes seem to have freezer burn so I usually don't order that. Occasionally I get a cupcake but pass me the white chocolate macadamia cookies because they are amazing and my fav and usually available on Fridays.
Chocolates were decent. (not made in house). Really liked the caramel eclair! But the macaroons we took home were so-so. A couple of them were good, but others tasted a bit stale and dry. Loved that they had a nice variety of flavors, but we couldn't even tell what flavors they were supposed to be by the time we got them home. So much potential here!
Strawberry shortcake bar and Raspberry Lemon cake are great. Live music was good. Smore cupcake was just ok.

Though we did not get any desserts they all looked amazing. We were in the area in a cold day and googled the best hot chocolate near us and this place came up. My husband and brother both got the hot chocolate but I got a small cappuccino instead. The hot chocolate (because of course I still had to try it) had a very smooth and creamy texture. They loved it! It also had like a cinnamon flavor in it. It wasn't your basic hot chocolate, it was definitely elevated. The cappuccino was pretty standard. Once ordered there's a little hall that takes you down to a seating area. There a restaurant there but also some couches in front of a fireplace. It was super nice!
Was looking for something sweet and this was perfect! They have a large selection of macaroons and gelato and other delicious items like cake and cupcakes. Had the red velvet cupcake and it was soft, moist and the cream cheese frosting was just perfect - not overly sweet. My boyfriend had the carrot cake cupcake and it was moist and perfectly balanced. They have outdoor seating so it was nice to sit outside and people watch.

There's a lot of dim lighting so it may look closed but check the hours. The place is classy, clean, and modern. The woman helping was friendly and informative about some allergies we had to worry about when making our selection. We chose a cupcake and chocolates and the total was under $10. The BEST part about this place is its connection to the hotel next door. If you're lucky there will be a jazz band playing in the adjoining lounge with a cool metal bead curtain and beautiful seating. A wonderful place to relax with a treat.
I am rating Bar Cocoa's bakery section with 4 stars. The varied selections were displayed elegantly and were pleasing to observe! Service was smooth and pleasant. I first enjoyed a piece of candy (upwards of 2.50) - salted caramel dark chocolate. It was the perfect portion and was scrumptious. Later (in the wee hours of the morning), I enjoyed eating the chocolate cupcake that definitely hit the spot. However, Bar Cocoa get 4 stars because I wanted to enjoy a glass of wine with my chocolate cupcake but was unable to find a seat in the bar areas to the left of the baked goods. The time was around 10:00PM. This isn't a problem for a business but it was a problem for me.
I tried a Latte macchiato, it was just on point Also we tried an a Tiramisu truffle and it was amazing. Highly recommended spot.
On a Thursday night, we ordered a red velvet cupcake (2.50) and 2 macarons (1.50) for 8 - Got the smoore and mint chocolate macaron. A bit to crispy. Breaks into pieces upon first bite. I like mine more soft and chewy. - Smoore had marshmallow - Red Velvet was not moist, a bit dry and hard. - Maybe because we came at a time when they were about to close, the texture was not at its best. - Although they did have live music and a nice fireplace. Good place to sit and relax. - Go to CVS and get the milk at the EPICenter :)
This is a nice cafe and bakery store adjacent to the Ritz Carlton hotel in downtown Charlotte. We got to try some of their dessert items as the hotel gave a celebratory platter, filled with their items. Loved the coconut cream chocolate cake, macarons, and the chocolate layered strawberries. The cafe also has excellent variety of hot and cold drinks. I saw the barista working super hard to complete the orders quickly. I didn't see the store being super crowded at any point, nice spot to grab some drinks and bites on your way in or out of the hotel. read more

I'm literally standing inside right now. Not sure why it claims it's closed. Nonetheless, the barista was sweet and very helpful. I walk by here all the time. It was great! I had a red velvet cupcake. read more
Loved this place! Their gelato is delicious! Short visit here but had a great time. It's a cute store inside the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Recommend the double chocolate gelato. We were able to sample it before buying. Their macrons are delicious too! We had 6 different kinds and they're made in-house. Great experience. read more

We stopped by last night for some after dinner gelato, we've actually never been here and I never realized it was so close. They had a few options, about 6, of gelato. The hazelnut and caramel tasted so good we had to get them both. We put the two flavors in a small for $3.50 ( should have gone with the large for $5). The caramel was delicious, like melt in your mouth creme brûlée. The hazelnut was good too, a little dark cocoa-ish for my taste. They had a large selection of macarons. Cakes, and chocolates. Will be back for a longer sit down experience. Cheers! read more

This place is inside of the Ritz Carlton right next to their restaurant. We were staying at the Marriott next door and wanted something sweet after dinner. There are so many different things you can have. From cupcakes to cannolis, to bon bons and tarts. After bombarding the guy behind the counter with about 54 questions (kudos to his patience with me) I decided on their signature dessert, Bar cocoa. When the guy described it as a gourmet kit kat, I was in! I LOVE kit kat. It was 7:00, but it was a very good size and it was clearly a gourmet and labor intensive dessert. OMG AMAZING! I was so happy with my choice! It was so decadent with a great crunch from the praline. OH and it was hazelnut chocolate, my favorite! A friend of mine got the chocolate cupcake which was amazing as well. The cake was very moist and chocolatey while the icing was perfect! I'll be back when I'm in Charlotte. read more
Fantastic macarons- very delicious and absolutely beautiful! I love the colors and the glitter, as well as the unique flavors. There's also a lot of fancy cakes and drinks to pick from. The best thing is that this cute little dessert place is open until late. read more

I don't eat sweets often bc most dessert places have their items so sweet! But, not this place :). A friend recommended this place when I was here for business and I stopped by. Their signature was not overwhelmingly sweet: I ate the entire piece by myself!! Will definitely be back at the next visit to Charlotte :). read more

The most amazing little secret. It is tucked in the corner of the Ritz Carlton. The deserts are great. I ate the best red velvet cupcake ever. I could have eaten the frosting with a spoon. Beside this desert bar is a lovely lounge inside the Ritz Carlton. We sat and enjoyed our decadent treats. Since it is a full lounge you may order beverages and food too. read more
Bottom line (at the top): We got to pick a dessert from Bar Cocoa as a part of our pre-fixe from brunch at the Ritz. Everything looks beautiful but looks are quite deceiving in this case. :/ -- Came here on Saturday morning after the family had some bizness in Charlotte. We did the three course prefixe and the third course was to pick dessert from Bar Cocoa. I'm not quite sure how the brunch was so good and Bar Cocoa was so bad.. We had the tiramisu (meh), chocolate raspberry cake (double meh, the raspberry jam inside was soo bitter), chocolate hazelnut praline cake (the best relatively, but still not that great, red velvet cupcake (horrendous, really dry), etc. etc. As a dessert fanatic this really broke my heart. read more

Get to the Chase: Pros: 1) Very clean, and well-presented 2) Nice variety of sweets Cons: 1) Some of the macaroons were fresh (soft, and with slight bite) , while others were stale (really chewy and hard like a hockey puck) 2) Limited to 2 flavors of gelato/sorbet...not even negotiable to have a 3rd flavor haha 3) The watermelon and mango sorbets tasted pretty decent, but after the 5th taste...they started tasting like some Fructis shampoo/shower gel Wanted to love it, but left disappointed read more

I'm not sure if the times for Sunday are posted wrongly on YELP or on the door! Either way, I saw people so I just went inside. The place was very very cute. They had not many options, but there's something for everyone. They had cookies, gelato, cupcakes, mini cakes and truffles! The presentation was beautiful and everything seemed fresh and it sparkled! It was beautiful. I got a Mississipi Mud Pie, it was moist and delicious. Not to mention it's in the Ritz hotel, you can stay and eat on there as well! read more

Decided to head uptown for a bit of dessert and landed at Bar Cocoa. We had initially only intended to stop for Gelato but were instantly attracted to all the gorgeous truffles and confections and ended up totally gorging ourselves on sweets. Tried the Pistachio Gelato, the texture was heavenly and accompanied by a crisp crunch of fresh nuts. We also sampled a variety of truffles (Lemon Bar, Tahitian Caramel, German Chocolate Cake, and Caramel Macchiatio). Each was artistically crafted and resembled a brightly colored gem. We also shared a slice of Coconut Cake. Everything had it's own unique and enticing flavor and I am not embarrassed to say we ate it all! The barista was patient and helpful and made sure we fully enjoyed each of our selections. Absolutely decadent! read more

First visit and I absolutely loved this place. I had a Ristretto which is now my new favorite coffee. Smooth, velvety and creamy all on its own with 0 bitterness. Simply delicious! I took two cupcakes and 2 macaroons to go. I split the cupcakes with my husband and although the red velvet was solid, I was blown away by the orange cream cupcake. Oh my word! I'm not an orange flavor lover but that cupcake was out of this world. It was the featured cupcake of the day. The cake part was moist and very mild in flavor. It was filled with sweet cream cheese and topped with the awesomest souped-up orange scented cream cheese frosting. I can't begin to explain how much I enjoyed this cupcake. Wow! The 2 macaroons were enjoyed by my 8 year old. She said they were awesome. Nuff said! Ugh! I need to come back here SOON! read more
