Bar Don has been around forever. I used to live nearby and would visit it frequently. Nowadays, not as much, but I meet up with friends maybe once or twice a year for bowling and karaoke and it's always a good time. Friendly staff, good computer systems for the games, and a very reasonably priced food menu, make it a good spot to go and bowl or just hang out. Good selection of bowling balls too. read more

Visiting the suburbs from the city, and was looking for a place to bowl this past weekend. Bar-Don was the nearest location available to us and so we went. Honestly, the age of a bowling alley is not a huge detractor for me. Bowling alley "experiences" these days attempt to add on a lot of other demands for alleys, but all that's needed really are the shoes, the balls, and the lanes. I wouldn't be opposed to some nice seats too in between bowls. Bar-Don does feel like the kind of bowling alley I'd find out in the PA suburbs. Old newspaper clippings of heroic efforts from bowlers of the past. The American food-serving bar in the back, next to the arcade machines. Lanes where you have to manually lift and lower the bumpers. Some people find this outdated, but I'd say that this just means this place is classic and has longevity. I had a great time bowling here with good house balls, good lanes that I could continue to practice spinning on and not be completely baffled, and seating that was not super painful. That being said, there were some technical breakdowns between our two games. Our lane wasn't resetting at one point, and at another our ball return got stuck. Both ended up being resolved, and seem to just be par for the course if you come to an older place like this that's not running full cylinder like it used to. Final upside? A lot cheaper than the city, and honestly if anyone complains about the prices, then they need to get their bar reset. read more

Usually, I like the place and all but for some reason. I don't know what's up and and I also made it clear to a staff member there that there is one particular person who carelessly comes with some program and their staff basically was dismissive and didn't think what his behavior was a big deal to them but to a society as a whole that by being disruptive and loud can cause nothing but a huge disturbance and the fact that I made it clear that they said not to let him around any kind of lane I would usually bowl not to be right next to the lane I would be in but they basically that agency didn't care and didn't think it was such a big deal and they basically did it anyway...if that's gonna be a constant thing despite me being on the spectrum and also the food is very impressive enough and the drinks and snacks...nothing bad about the services in particular, is just that one agency that kept bringing that disruptive and unruly client of theirs with them knowing I don't go so well with noisy people and honestly....I rather take my business somewhere else and also if someone had been spreading their germs that got me an infection with a nasty cough then basically....I wouldn't want to bother coming back unless if some action is taken read more

In the ever shrinking world of bowling you seem to have two options in a lot of areas. Go to a large city like Philly and pay out the ass for Yuppie-Hipster bowling at a place like North Bowl or go to a place that looks like they haven't put nickel one into it since the 70's. I would like to say that the second choice is what applies to Bar Don except that they've been around since the 50's so... What's the appeal of coming here? I suppose it's two things. The first is that it's cheap compared to what's left of the area bowling establishments and as far as I know it's the oldest so it's like a time warp seeing the dated drop ceiling, the cut out in the wall where the pay phone use to be or sitting on the hemorrhoid inducing bench seating. In terms of price the two best deals are from 11am-3:30pm on Sunday when it's $20 for shoes and as much as you can bowl or you can go the coupons link on their web page for the deal that's $29 for two hours and four sets of shoes. One thing about that deal. The fine print on that coupon is so small that it's impossible to read so if there are applicable exclusions on it who knows and when I showed it to the guy at the counter he had to take it in the back to get it approved because he said that they never see any coupons. When he came back he said it was OK but their cash register would only ring it up as $25 (an old price apparently) versus the $29 on the coupon so that's what we paid. Without the coupon our junket would have cost over $50 so it was well worth it. Don't be a sucker and pay the $4 per game price after 6pm if you don't have to. I don't know about lane oiling or anything like that but what I will say is that compared to Town and Country in Bethlehem the pins here seemed more "active" and the lanes seemed more "slick". To a layman idiot like me that equaled higher scores so I'm all for whatever they're doing. I don't know anything about their leagues, their birthday parties, their food offerings (who the F eats at a bowling alley anyway?) or their bar (pretty decent crowd in there watching a mid-week Yankees day game on MLB Network) but what I do know is that while the place is nothing to look at, it was a good time and the price was great. We will be back. (Not that I'm trying to rip on another Yelper but this place has been in existence for almost sixty years. Who knew they were here? Everybody, that's who.) (Also it's a bit of an oxymoron to say that they've continued to "update" their technology on par with other area bowling locations because the scoring systems two biggest features are probably that it counts and that no doubt it was made Y2K compliant because it's been around long enough to have needed the upgrade.) read more

I take my son who is autistic bowling there every Tuesday great atmosphere. It brings him a lot of joy. Very nice people too.

We were in town for a youth lacrosse tournament and found this bowling alley. We needed a low key place for kids and adults. Wonderful hospitality... cheap drinks... bar food that won't break the bank... this like Denver's Don's Mixed Drinks used to be... glad we stumbled upon Bar Don Lanes! read more

The stench of cigarette smoke hits you before you even get in the front door. That combined with the over priced bowling and broken vending machines makes for a great night. Pretty sure I'll be making the drive to Bethlehem to find a nicer bowling alley next time. read more

I'm a huge fan of his bowling alley because it Provides a fun atmosphere for kids to have good clean fun and enjoy some of the best bar food in the area. I'm extremely disappointed to hear that bar and kitchen area is currently closed due to some family related challenges. Stopped in here while visiting PA. Wasn't expecting much but ended coming here twice during our stay. The reason we came back was $1 games on Tues after 9!!!! Coming from NYC that is completely unheard of. 3 games and shoes for 2 people came to $12 dollars which is roughly the cost of one game in NYC. The bar serves food which is pretty decent. Our only gripe is that while smoking is allowed in in bars in Pa( something us New Yorkers are not used to anymore) We felt that the bartender smoking and blowing it in our faces was bit much. Not to mention the COOK had a lit cigarette in his mouth as he came out of the kitchen was completely out of hand. Other than that we had a great time both nights. On the 2nd night there was a rowdy group of drunken teens on lane next to us shouting obscenities and what not and while me and my girlfriend knew we weren't going to a library we didn't really expect that. The gentlemen working there offered us another lane without even having to ask or complain. When we were done he even gave us a game on the house which really impressed us. We will be patronizing this alley again for sure. read more

Who knew there was a bowling ally nestled behind the Redner's Shopping Plaza?! Well apparently they have been there for the past 50 years, but luckily they seem to have continued to update their technology and it is on par with other ally's in the Lehigh Valley. So why come here? Well not only is it convenient if you are an Easton resident, but they have great specials. $1 games on Friday night, $3 drinks, $2 shoes. I mention the drinks because when we stopped by Friday the bar was packed. They had loud karaoke, but good sound proofing, and none of it was audible on the lanes, nice! I was surprised the clientele didn't reflect the Palmer demographic as much as I had expected, but I'll put that up to us being there late on a Friday. We will be back for sure! read more

I have been coming to Bar Don here and there since I was a kid. Recently they hired this guy named David. Absolutely so rude to me. My lane wouldn't work. It kept dropping down the wrong number of pins. What a terrible attitude the guy had with me. I bowled 4 frames in 45 minutes with just 2 people. Asked for my money back and he wouldn't reimburse. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because it's old. People are nice and food is very good. Prices are more than fair and although it's old they do their best to keep in nice. It's clean which is important to me. My son and I enjoy playing here and even the other bowlers are nice. read more

I shouldnt even give this place one star.. the two guys who worked tonight were complete assholes!!! They would not clear our lanes of the pins that were stuck halfway and claimed they only do for leagues.. we payed 67 dollars for them to argue with us and be extremely rude. The older short chubby guy and the tall guy should be fired. Absolutely the worst customer service I ever had. I will not go back ever again and I will be sure to tell all my family and friends to do the same. read more

I would not give this place any stars!!!!! I was there today 2/14/15 with my boyfriend and 4 kids the 2 guys one tall one short that were working word the rudest people and not at all friendly. They should not even have that type of job working with human beings. The short guy came over to me and asked how old my son was so I told him and he proceeded to tell me he was too old to throw the the way he was yes I agree but if approached me in a different manor I could agree. I have been bowling since I was 5 yrs old my mom was a manager at Warren Lanes I grew up with bowling and I never ever dealt with the rudeness I had today YES Valentines day. I want to thank them because now I will never go there again and never to Rip Van Winklers bar because I will not promote this place or give them another dime we spent $60 plus there today and got treated very poorly and I felt very sad.
