Bar Granada is a cool modern bar/restaurant in Downtown Dayton. The space itself is stunningly beautiful and very inviting. It has a very upscale feel to it. The staff are very friendly and great with explaining the menu and drink options. The menu is somewhat limited/small with a South American theme but it seems that they've hit gold with the selections on offer. We started with the Guacamole and it was delicious, fresh and bursting with flavor. For entree I had the Birria Bowl and it was pretty great. It definitely was not a traditional Birria which is very stew like but still delicious. Overall I will definitely be back to Bar Granada and I'd absolutely recommend them. read more

Looking to try something new, we stopped by Bar Granada for a late dinner/drinks. Walking in, you got a dark-yet-neon vibe--very cool. The bar was stocked with many tequila choices (they even offer tequila tastings) and offered a customizable menu of arepas, tacos, and bowls. I ordered the pineapple jalapeño marg, barbacoa arepa, and fried plantains. Everything was so delicious and chalked full of flavor. Ample street parking out front in the evening. Very dissatisfied with the service my friends and I received at this establishment. My friends and I sat at the bar (three of us). We were given menu's five minutes after we had been sitting. We decided what we wanted. Ten minutes went by and no one had taken our order. I flagged down a staff member and said "sir how can I order?". He said "I have to find someone". We waited ten more minutes and someone finally took or order. Fifteen minutes went by and no one brought our order. There was a lady that decided she would take out our order after walking by us 5+ times. It was at that time we expressed our dissatisfaction. Regardless, I finally gave it a shot this week and now I feel stupid for missing out for so long. I travel a lot so I'm no stranger to really good Latin food. I want to love this place. It's new and local owned. The location has parking behind it and on street (if you're lucky) Pay with cash on way out of the lot. The restaurant decor and service was great. We are at the bar. They have several nice TVs which is a plus when it comes to my hubby. On to the food...we had the calamari rings with lemon. Delicious! Next we had Croquetas ...mushroom and also the chicken ones. Lacking in flavor is the worst I can say. Presented lovely though. Thank you for providing a safe & beautiful place to go for a nice evening, live music, great drinks and delicious food after a busy day! There's always a sense of welcome and family when I walk in. Under new ownership with a new look. I'd love for you to come decorate my house! The staff are always so friendly and truly take pride in their work even on their busiest of nights. My favorite drink is their craft tequila Honey Paloma! They are delicious and beautifully presented - same with their pomegranate margaritas! That's saying a lot coming from someone who typically hates tequila. The staff bring in a large variety of live music from Latin Jazz to metal on any given night so there's something for everyone - my personal favorites being the bachata dancing classes with DaytOn1 Salsa and Dayton Salsa Project! I also love little sparks of joy that present themselves around - the beautiful plats, local art and usage of sustainable environmentally friendly items around the bar and in Latin Arepas (the food vendor located in the back). Plus, as a women, even leaving sanitary products in the restroom is much appreciated. Not to mention, there's inexpensive parking right next door! The owner even came out for a brief second and chatted with us. He brought us A complementary appetizer which was super tasty! We were very Excited to try out this place since Our favorite place for food is Spain. Had to give it a try!!! True foodie super excited about new stuff coming into Dayton. We sat at the bar because it our favorite place to sit for the full on experience. I will say that Most of the staff was friendly. As for the food we were a bit disappointed.....The portions to price. It was only the soft opening but felt that you don't get a lot of food for the high prices. If the portions will stay small recommend bringing down prices. Also with tapas would have hoped for some off the wall tasty bread. Overall just not the best experience. Gave it a 3 because the concept is great. Not sure if we will be back. We paid way too much for the portions we got. But maybe as time goes on things will balayage out and we may try again. read more

Being Valentine's day I predicted we wouldn't have much trouble getting in here because it is off the beaten path and many still do not know it exist. I was right. The place was sleepy. We like to sit at the bar. When we walked in there was one lone seat at the front of the bar but I saw a row of extra chairs and just just grabbed one. The bartender immediately snapped at my wife and said "You can't sit there, that's why we didnt have chairs there". HUH??? Is that any way to greet customers? Could that explain why the place was dead at 7:00 on a Friday night and even on a holiday? I was blown away. I expressed my dissatisfaction to my wife but apparently I said it loud enough for the rude bartender to hear because she then decided to taunt me and say "did I make you mad? You want to talk about it?" With a smirk on her face. I lost it! You choose to treat us like garbage from the second we walk in the door and now you want to spar with me??? I'M OUT! We went on to have a great evening but I didnt let it go. I messaged the business through their Facebook page and got loaded with excuses of why our treatment was acceptable. They claimed our sorry treatment was in retaliation for a visit we supposedly made several nights prior. That didnt happen. Even if it did, which I assure you it didnt, wouldn't the smarter thing be to approach us and handle it professionally? Treating customers poorly in front of other customers has no justification and is likely why they are so sleepy on a Friday night. All based on a mistaken identity but that mistake showed us their trues colors and we choose not to spend our money in places that justify treating their customers poorly for any reason. Many businesses have come and gone in this spot and I hope when their time comes that Latin Arepas finds a great home for their amazing food. read more

We recently moved downtown and really enjoy walking to Bar Granada for some margaritas and friendly service. The decor is pretty cool it is definitely set up for live music. I can't wait for post-COVID days to enjoy that. Once the temperatures aren't so hot, we'll definitely be sitting outside on the patio. Be sure to order some arepas; they're phenomenal! read more

I went and tried Bar Granada on the advice of a Dayton.com article that popped up on my phone that day. The bar seemed very upscale. Lots of fine wood furniture, succulents on every table, a vodka flight, Jazz nights advertised, etc. We arrived just before 7, After we had been there a few minutes sound checks began for a band that was participating in an event that was happening later that night (unbeknownst to us) called "DeathFest." While I have no problem with death metal, it did not at all fit with the vibe or decor of the establishment. It was ear bleedingly loud, during the sound check, and we wanted nothing more than to leave, however having ordered food but not yet received it, we were stuck. I'm sure the food didn't take as long as it felt, but between the ear splitting music, and lack of ability to hear each other's conversation it seemed like forever. And then we when we did get the food, we both ate as quickly as possible in silence trying to get out as quickly as possible. The food wasn't terrible, but I can't say I enjoyed it either, but I don't know if that was because of preparation or the fact my ears were being assaulted as I dined. I wanted a quiet meal at an upscale place. I got a migraine instead. I have no idea why "DeathFest" would be in a venue like this. I would imagine that it would only alienate bar regulars and attendees of "DeathFest" as well. In short my experience there was awful. I don't know what the booker of said event was thinking, as we weren't the only ones who bailed as quickly as we could once the bands started up. There's a time and a place for death metal, this wasn't it. It might have even worked had they not started the sound check until after 9 (when they switch to 21 and up and when signage said the event began) and such things are more expected, but that's not what happened. Recommend stopping by here to sample a flight of tequila ! Super unique experience you won't get anywhere else in Dayton. They pour three half ounce pours of your choice of tequila (reposado, añejo, etc) to sip on. If your immediate response to a tequila tasting is who the heck would want to sip on tequila, that stuff is nasty and made for shots/bad decisions -- you need to try this. Aged tequila is smooth and complex and is worth the experience to sip on. They also have food here too. read more

Last night was my first visit to Bar Granada, and I was very happy with it. I was surprised to see the wine bar was gone, because we frequented it many times. We've been here twice and it's absolutely perfect. I followed Barcelona with this place in search of good tapas and I was NOT disappointed. The bartender made me a custom drink according to what I like and gave me the recipe so I could have it again. The other bartender recognized us after more than a month and it felt like home. The menu has a variety of steady and changing options. The atmosphere is never dead but never packed. The music is good but at a volume where you can actually have a conversation. The food...food should be fresh! What I tasted was not. Olives should be big & plump, not small, like from a can. They gave me weak black olives. The Calamari sandwich tasted okay however did not sit well later. The Serrano ham & cheese tasted pre made, maybe pre thawed. Looked like "Ohio bar food" ham & cheese poppers! And the anchovies was also, not fresh. Disappointing. Did not sleep that night - belly was all jacked up from the food. Dayton really needs a bar restaurant like this. It was our first visit, we went for dinner before the theater. 1. It's very convenient for theater, even on a snowy evening. 2. It's cute and has a great bar. 3. The food, wine and service were wonderful. We got lucky as it wasn't too busy (snowy Sunday) so we received plenty of attention, but not too much. We had a light dinner here tonight. I want to love this place because a) it's locally owned b) the location is great and c) the food is Spanish, one of my favorite cuisines. The wine list is small but good, and well priced. With our beverages, we were given a complimentary bowl of mussels, steamed in a hot pepper broth. The down side was the somewhat generic bread served with them. I wanted crusty Spanish bread and this was more like Kroger Italian, soft without that chewy crust. Next we had the anchovies--delicious! They were tender and melted in the mouth. We then had the Huevos Estrellados, 2 eggs served over home fried potatoes with some jamon. Everything was hot, eggs cooked perfectly. My husband had the Montado de Lomo, a pork sandwich with cheese and pepper. The bread was a little better on this, but still not what we had throughout our travels in Spain. Our servers were great, knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients, and attentive without being intrusive. My understanding is that the menu will be expanding in the future, but for now is limited to small plates. I really wanted some great olives to go with my wine, and perhaps a green salad or charcuterie plates. Some entree choices would be nice as well. A BIG downside was the overwhelmingly loud televisions, blaring football. I usually love to sit at bars when we eat out, especially in more casual places, but these were very off-putting. Loved this place!! Was here a week ago with 15 people. We had been on the Camino. This as a reunion of the group. Spent 4 hours here. Amy, our server, was outstanding. Never made up feel rushed nor did she exhibit ANY signs of annoyance at our disorganization or rowdiness. Food was top notch- many of the dishes were better than we had in Spain. I've been coming here about a month or two after they've opened but have finally decided to write a review (first ever). The concept of a tequila bar in Dayton is one that has been very necessary for the city. I'm over the moon that Abraham and Gabriella have found a home for their food and hope nothing but the best for them as they are not only the kindest, caring human beings but fantastic chefs as well. I enjoy the separation of the food and bar since I've seen too many places be judged based on others' merits. The owners Ami & Paul are wonderful folk with many stories from all over this pearl of a planet and are never forthcoming or aggressive about their travels. The bartender with the lovely red cap, Amber, is one of the kindest human beings I've ever met. The tequila selection is grand, the shows have been consistently fantastic (almost every night they're open) and I really can't wait to see this place thrive and prosper! read more
