(EPIC REVIEW Coming Soon!!!) While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to check out the Hotel Bar Lounge... First thought, Color me Impressed! High ceilings, Natural lighting, classy decor, comfy couches... Yeah, take your time with that room, we'll wait! So we plopped down onto their sofa, waited for a cocktail menu, and let the "we left the kids at home with Grandma; let's enjoy being kid-free for the night begin". $18.00 cocktails....Lets Goooo!! Looking back at the Photos, I can't exactly recall what we ordered... Was it a whiskey sour? Was it a paper plane?? Honestly, Who cares! They tasted great. I was sitting across from a beautiful woman. And we were responsibly adulting. What more could a guy ask for?? I'm glad you asked! After a long car ride in, sipping on water, then the first few sips of my cocktail, I suddenly had to go... Luckily, the restrooms are located just adjacent to the bar area and DAMN are they clean!! Hey, if a bar restroom is well taken care of, you know the place has Class.... And Bar Magnolia has the Class to Match! Of course, there is bar stool seating at the bar... (I usually prefer sitting at the bar as there's always some great stories to be heard and when it time to order another round, you can literally just cut out the... Middle Man (Aka waiting for your server to come check back in) In addition to the bar top stools, there are also low top tables, and a few couch-chairs with a low top table for more intimate conversations. Besides those $18 craft cocktails, a short, well Curated list of bubbles, vino and draft beers are all up for grabs. Unfortunately, we had stopped to eat before we arrived (bad move on our part), but next time, and THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME, we will definitely partake in their food menu (cause damn, did it look GOOD!) Came to Bar Magnolia on a Friday evening specifically for happy hour, which their website clearly advertises as Monday-Friday. Once there, I was told happy hour is only Monday through Thursday. I pulled up their own website and showed it to the server. The response? A shrug. No apology, no explanation, no effort to make it right. This is straight-up false advertising, and the lack of accountability made it worse. If you're going to change your happy hour, update your website and train your staff to handle it professionally. I popped in for afternoon cocktails in this great little bar. Located inside the Hotel Figueroa, it's comfortable with interesting Spanish renaissance decor. The bartender was courteous, attentive, and quick. The espresso martini was excellent. 20% tip plus a 4% "Benefits Surcharge" automatically added to the bill. Perhaps it's different at night before a Lakers game, but I highly recommend it on a quiet afternoon. read more

Even though it's been almost a decade, I do love the 'new' remodel. The lobby has such great Fung Shui and the curated art is off the charts and compliments the powerfully high ceilings. This is a solid place to journal, enjoy coffee and the best breakfast Burrito. If coffee is your thing, this is great at Hotel Fig and the very kind and fun Jorge will make you feel like you are truly at home as he has worked in DTLA since the 1980s and he is perfect in his position and happy to see him again and again. Didn't have the best experience here. I enjoyed a couple drinks before checking in for my stay. The atmosphere was great, such a beautiful space. The host was great and seated me right away, but it did take quite awhile for a server to come by. When they did I ordered a drink from their menu and he told me they were out of an ingredient. It was a short response, not giving me any alternatives. By the time I finished my drink, it took 10-15 minutes for someone to come by to see if I needed anything. I asked to order food before the kitchen closed but they also didn't have what I was asking for from the menu. Ordered another drink and went on my way. Server also didn't disclose that the tip was already included. Good thing I checked the third receipt on the bottom or I would not have known. read more

We sat at the bar where a genuinely nice bartender greeted us. Glancing over the cocktail menu I noticed a forgotten classic - Between the Sheets. I've only seen it served at Commander's Place in New Orleans. The drink originated in Paris in the 1920's and was made famous in the 1930's at Harry's New York Bar. My gf and I went to Hotel Figueroa to checkout HH at Bar Magnolia. We were able to sit at any table by the bar. Waitress was extremely friendly. For drinks, we got the Delilah and the Eden. Both of which were refreshing and fruity. It didn't taste extremely alcoholic but we left with a good buzz. For food, we ordered the sliders and truffle fries. They weren't anything special, but can't complain due to the amount and price. Overall, we had a good time. If I really had to complain, it's that the sofa/loungers were kinda scratchy and had stains. It just didn't look clean. read more

Honestly can't say good enough things about this bar. I used to live a few blocks away and have tried almost every cocktail on the menu and each one has been elegant, unique and beautifully balanced. I love it because you can tuck yourself away in one of the lounge areas with a book if you want, or if you feel like being social, you can sit at the bar and do that as well. The bartenders know their stuff and are very easy to talk to. No two conversations I've had there have ever been the same, since the customers are usually guests staying at the hotel from all over the world. You won't regret popping into this hidden gem. Excellent hotel bar serving craft cocktails in a comfortable environment. Service is excellent. Very casual if you want to have good drinks and conversations with friends unlike the loud and dark bars that take an arm and a leg to get into. The Harper is an excellent refreshing drink with a mezcal base. The Chloe is great if you're into whiskey sours. Plenty of seating with clinches all around as well as a bar. read more

It's the second time I came here for some drinks before a basketball game. I have a feeling it might just be a ritual. The drinks here are pretty good and plentiful. The one drink that keeps making a recurring appearance is the Chloe. It is super refreshing and the egg whites add an interesting texture to it. Happy hour menu is pretty generous. Nothing about the sauce or seasoning resembled traditional shrimp and grits. Husband got the Cobb salad and said it was good. Sister in law got a salad and sides and it was "fine". The spicy fried cauliflower was pretty good. I would get that again. I got hibiscus tonic and wouldn't pay for that again. Our server was frankly rude and impatient and not very attentive, possibly understaffed. So if you want ambience and alcohol and to sit in the bar area, that would be great. This place has a great happy hour from 3-6. You can get glasses of wine for $8 and a few different cocktails for $10. First, I got an old fashioned. It was a bit watery but you could still taste the whisky. I also tried a Bordeaux which was really good. I also loved the glass it came in which allowed the wine to breathe properly. Lovely bar! It's worth a visit. Depending on the atmosphere you're looking for, you'll either love it or be underwhelmed. The furniture, foliage, and decor really create an atmosphere that puts you at ease and comfort. It's modern and cozy. We sat next to the fireplace which kept us warm all night! Came here on a Friday evening and it was pretty empty. I think that is a plus! I had a glass of wine and my friend had champagne. The drinks did not disappoint. Yes it's a bit on the pricier side. You get what you pay for. A clean, classy setting with good quality drinks. One downfall is the parking. Their valet was full so we had to self park. $20 for self parking. I love a good mellow bar. After a long day of walking around DTLA, we needed to rest our feet and have a drink. We heard that the Figueroa Hotel had an amazing rooftop bar, but that bar wouldn't open for another hour and it was super windy. Lobby bar it is! The Bar Figueroa is very comfy with plush couches and chairs scattered about. There's a lot of brass and books used as decorations. We were only here for one drink and I got the MALENA. This was Wild Turkey Rye, Campari, Port, Orange Blossom & Orange Bitters. I wasn't ready for how bitter it was going to be. The port seemed to over power everything. The rye was the only thing I tasted after the port. Everything else was lost. It wasn't a bad drink, but I feel like it might have been made incorrectly, because when I ordered it the bartender had to read menu to see what was in it. Four stars for the vibe and look of this place. This is definitely a bar I could hang at for a round or three. read more

Have been working and going out in Downtown for years and only just recently discovered this gem. What a beautiful and elegant little lounge tucked away inside the Hotel Figueroa. Every time i've come here i've had impeccable service, mind-blowingly delicious cocktails, and the most unexpectedly interesting conversations. Rob and Jimmy are fantastic bartenders; very attentive, knowledgeable and charming. I highly recommend the Last Chance cocktail-- but if not, Rob will whip you up something special that is sure to exceed your expectations. He crafted me some sort of whiskey-apple-pear concoction that to this day i've never been able to find anywhere else (see attached picture). If you're looking for food-- try the yellowtail crudo. Omg loved this place! I wouldn't have come here if I was just seeing the facade as it looks old and shady! It was a short walk from the convention center so we didn't have to worry about parking. It wasn't really a bar but it was almost the whole ground floor of the hotel. It was so beautiful! The obviously spent a fortune renovating the places. It was so warm and inviting. Caution to future patrons. I hosted a large group and was charge 20% tip but that wasn't brought to my attention. I added an additional 25% tip thus 45% tip. it was an accident and not a problem but wanted to resolve. I worked with General manager Emily Kendall who told me she would resolve. Hotel Figueroa used to be a place to go to get some of the best drinks in DTLA. Their gin in tonics were amazing. The artistry was impeccable. They tasted great and we're worth the price.
