Wow. For years, this is the first time I wish I could get zero stars. Reservation: we would have loved to come at 6:30pm. Sold out. So we came at 5:30 - and saw that many many tables open throughout our entire three hour stay. Arriving valet: I felt like a school kid being lectured. Maybe they - the hotel - has an audience that needs to be lectured, I don't. Got our table. At least that worked. Waited 30 mins to get a menu. The - very charming - waitress had put them on the empty table next to us instead. She was friendly. Sadly, she only came to asked if we need something in the second we just had received drinks or food. Whenever we would have possibly wanted to order more: nothing. The food. We were six. We started with Mezze and other shareables. They came. We got silverware for six. Three plates. Any attempt to get more: unsuccessful. Mezzo OK, everything else rather meh. The beef on my burger was killed three times - dry as hell, the fries cold. The view: great. Ambiance other than that: mediocre. The check: $350. Could have been $500, if we were offered more. We were not. 20% tip mandatory. It somewhat explains the inattentive service that includes a tip for a friendly but inattentive service. Leaving: After 20 min wait for our car, the valet attendant gave us the key, asked us to find our car (which was close) and had us serve-serve. Would I go again? Absolutely not. You'd think a swanky location like that could provide neat uniforms to their wait staff! Food: I ordered the ham n cheese sandwich which I thought I'd get fast bcz its easy to make, given how slow they were, but I asked for chicken instead of ham since I don't eat pork.. mind you, they have a chicken club sandwich on the menu so it shd be easy, but NO!!! My wife made a reservation for her birthday at the rooftop restaurant. With plenty of time to get a great table for six people. Then she gets an email from the restaurant a little over a week from her reservation date, stating that her reservation has been canceled To accommodate one group of people who they think is more important than a handful of smaller groups who made reservations in a timely manner. I would like to know how many other people's reservations have been canceled because someone decided to rent out the whole bar and decided to kick out all the little people and the small groups to be able to accommodate some other group. Talk about horrible service, and before you even get in the door you're considered to be not worth their time because you don't have enough people to spend more money for the whole bar. The restaurant has a rating of 3.5 or six stars and I don't know how they got that with that kind of service. Luckily, we found another place that was willing to accommodate our group of six people for a birthday party. Guaranteed no matter how good the view is, if the service is shit it's not worth it especially if the service is that way before you even get in the door. I would love to hear if anybody else had the same problem for the reservations on August 27. So please respond and let us know. We would like to know exactly how many people were turned down and their reservations canceled. read more

This place saved our evening after a desperate dash at Level 8. Even though we had a reservation over there, we had no idea there was a $75 per person minimum and any other bar was charging an outrageous fee and was so loud + standing room. We found ourselves at La Lo La Rooftop which was lively but not crowded, and with a stunning view. We ordered drinks from the menu and lemon drops from the bar, in addition to a Basque cheesecake. The service we received was phenomenal. We were checked on multiple times, no one made us feel rushed or pushed for only getting drinks and a dessert, and best of all, we could sit and talk to each other. We determined that this is a super underrated spot for a gorgeous LA view! I would never go back to the Level 8 bars but I would DEFINITELY come back to La Lo La. Such a lovely experience! read more

We visited La Lola Rooftop expecting a great experience. The view is beautiful -- without question, the best part of the venue. Unfortunately, the service did not match the setting. My girlfriend and I ordered two Old Fashioneds made with Ilegal Mezcal. The bottle being used was nearly empty, and as professionals in the hospitality industry, we are very familiar with proper pour standards. It was clear there wasn't enough product left for two consistent drinks. The bartender, Bryan, prepared both cocktails without using a jigger. When I politely asked why one drink appeared noticeably lighter than the other and why he wasn't measuring the pour, he smirked, gave a slight laugh, and responded that he "knows the exact measurement of his glasses." The tone and gesture felt dismissive and mocking rather than professional. Instead of addressing a reasonable concern with transparency, the response came across as defensive and condescending. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, bringing the total to $71.12 for two inconsistent Old Fashioneds. Precision, consistency, and respect are basic standards in this industry. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect that. We won't be returning. read more

False Advertising, Bland Food, and Not Worth the Price -- Only the View Is Nice My family and I had a really disappointing experience at La Lo La Rooftop. OpenTable lists this restaurant as Tapas/Small Plates, which is exactly why we chose it--especially with our 19-month-old who loves tapas. To our surprise, there were no tapas on the menu at all. When we asked for the tapas menu, the server told us they "no longer see a need to have two menus" and now just serve the general hotel menu instead. None of this was communicated upfront, and it felt like misleading advertising. We had already paid $27.50 for parking and had a hungry toddler, so leaving wasn't an option. Unfortunately, the food we ordered was extremely bland and flavorless--we even sent one plate back. The sangria tasted watered down, and overall nothing matched the pricing or the expectations set online. Service was also a major issue. Our server barely checked on us at all, and at one point she went on break without telling us. We only found out when we asked for the check and another server mentioned, "Oh, she's on break--she should have told you." Between the auto-gratuity and the lack of communication, the service felt uninterested and unprofessional. On top of that, they automatically add a 20% gratuity without informing you, which explains the nonexistent service--because the tip is guaranteed regardless. For 4 sangrias, 1 AC Club Chicken Sandwich, and 1 Rigatoni Pomodoro, our bill came to $169.45, and my spouse didn't even have a meal. Absolutely not worth it. The only positive thing here is the rooftop view--but Los Angeles has plenty of beautiful views without paying nearly $170 for bland food and poor service. Save your time, money, and appetite. La Lo La was super cute. It is on the rooftop of the AC Downtown Hotel. I know when the weather gets warmer, this'll continue to be a hot spot. It was AMAZING to watch the sun set while overlooking the beautiful lights of Downtown. There's $20 parking. There's valet. There's a $20 parking lot across the street. And LA Live is super close by also. I found street parking after 7pm so that was great and a win for me. We ordered the Steak Skewers which came in 4 and so good. The Brussel sprouts were also pretty good. The patatas brava were really good with a nice chipotle mayonnaise on them. I would definitely try out a brunch here with a nice summer weather. I did think it was a bit absurd to charge $8 for a soda. My friend also got the Whiskey Punch that she enjoyed. And the carrot cake was IMMACULATE with ice cream. It was perfect. My friend & I booked a reservation for 9:15 pm Friday night. We called because we were running 10-15 late and they said they were doing last call at 9:45. I asked well why did they allow us to make late reservations if they were closing early? We got there and the turnout was kinda slow. There were maybe about 15-20 people there. We ran to the bar and ordered 2 drinks each and chugged them down. I had the west coast punch. They were fruity yet strong. The bartender told us they were closing at 10:15 because it was "cold", although the website and Yelp said they closed at midnight. Super misleading. I was very disappointed about having to call it an early night because of the weather, keep in mind, it was not cold out. The views and the vibes are on point, but they need to get their hours in check. Not to mention we waited a while to get our drinks. First of all, I know the climate we are living in and the fact that my date and I were treated like we were peasants trying to get in to this big major club was not it. My date and I sat at the bar area meanwhile we get seated. She ordered a margarita and I had water because I wanted to see the menu when we were going to get seated. 15 min. The views were nice but service was not it. I really wanted to review the food but they did not give me the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately the service we received was lacking...maybe they were short staffed but my group was there for a good 2 hours. The group was served with their drink orders and then a couple of us caught up and came in late, but we never saw the waitress again after that. My friend and I decided to just walk up to the bar to order our drinks and we were told that we'd have to order with our waitress...thankfully the bartender let us open a separate tab after we told him that we haven't seen the waitress in 30 mins. Go at night, sit on the west side so you have a good view of downtown and the Hollywood Hills, and pretend not to be shocked at the portion sizes when they bring the tapas to your table. The manager did check on us every now and again. Go for the views and a cocktail; they do have a fully stocked bar. Perfect for chill vibes. Love the couches for lounging. The sunset is beautiful as you can see all the buildings near the bar area. There's tables too, but we did make reservations. I loved the cute flamingo at the stem of my glass. I could not get over the views we enjoyed during dinner and the food did not disappoint! I came here for cocktails and tapas as this is what they specialize in- I ordered the South Park Farmer's Market Margarita which was different but I would describe it was herbal and refreshing, I liked it! I also ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, and for appetizers the Patatas Bravas, Gambas Al Ajillo, and Brussel Sprouts which are all MUST haves I genuinely still crave them lol. Originally we were to have dinner outdoors, but due to the weather we ate indoors. The restaurant is beautiful with it's LA vibe decor and beautiful views of LA. The bartender was great and friendly (I recommend the farmers market margarita). Our waiter during dinner was hard to understand and we couldn't find him when we needed our check. Some of the food was delicious, but the indoor food menu differs from the outdoor menu. Some of the items we had were the Gambas (delicious!), salmon plate (very good!), club sandwiches (chicken was dry) and ham and cheese panini (okay). I am extremely upset! I made reservations weeks ago on Open to celebrate my son's 39th birthday and received a message minutes before my reservation that they are not open on Thursdays. I even received a message yesterday asking me to confirm my reservation. We had to pay $30 (per car for parking) only to learn that they were closed!!! I received what appeared to be a half-hearted message from the owner. It seems he doesn't understand that my plans to celebrate my son were basically ruined.
