We stopped in here after Broken Shaker and before dinner, and honestly.....perfect timing. This place is an absolute sunset gem. You take the red elevator up to the 35th floor of the Westin, walk past LA Prime Steakhouse, and then head down a short set of stairs into Bonavista Lounge just in time for happy hour. The vibe hits immediately. Happy hour was a win across the board: $6.50 glasses of Pinot Noir and Cabernet (shockingly good for the price), plus Caesar salad, sliders, and loaded nachos. Everything was solid, but the real showstopper? The restaurant rotates 360 degrees. No joke. You're sipping wine while the entire skyline slowly glides by. The sunset views were unreal!!! easily the highlight of the night and we ended up lingering way longer than planned because it was just that enjoyable. Great drinks, good food, killer views, and a totally unique experience. Would 100% come back, especially for sunset.

One of the best views you can get from DTLA. The revolving lounge is an absolute treat and experience. With that being said, be absolutely worried that you may get some of the worse service imaginable. The service staff is excellent. The drinks are okay. The menu items are average, however management is atrocious. My experience is from a reservation deposit for New Year's Eve. A deposit that was suppose to be refunded once your reservation is completed. Messages left for the restaurant manager went without return from Jan 1st, Jan 8th, Jan 9th, and Jan 10th. I finally spoke with a staff member, Adriana on Jan 22nd and she assured me that her manager would address the refund and return my call. I have not received any return call and this matter is still unresolved. The Bonavista basically stole my money at this point and a report of theft as been reported to my bank. The management of the Bonaventure Hotel is absolutely incompetent.

The service here is great. I love the lounge. It is a revolving lounge so you could see all angles of Los Angeles. It is pretty neat. The drinks are so refreshing and delicious. The dirty martini is my absolute favorite. You could add some blue cheese olives with it, and you could ask for extra. The server is very attentive. I truly recommend it if you're in town in downtown LA.

My girlfriend and I wanted to try the rotating bar at the top of the Bonaventure hotel dtla. Ordered a coke, clam chowder, and creme brulee. View was very nice. Full rotation takes approximately 80 minutes. We stayed for about an hour. Views of dodger stadium, the downtown skyline, and various buildings. Food was good, service was fine, prices were high but that's to be expected considering the location. I'd return

Dropped by 8pm on Thursday just to check out the popular revolving lounge. It was pretty quiet so I got seated for just myself quickly along the perimeter. They serve some small food items but I just got a cocktail for myself. The Sunset Boulevard was fruity and sweet. They also gave some chex mix to snack on. Overall a cute vibe to chat with friends or go on a date. Lots of semi-circle booths to sit and chat in. It revolves very slowly (one full revolution every 90 minutes!) so be sure to stay a while to view everything. Service was also great.

Revolving bar concept was super cool! Wasn't too busy but just a little bit of a wait with our nachos, they were so good but a bit cold. They have a menu for their drinks, but you can always order any cocktail you like since they have a full bar.

The five star rating is for the overall experience of the Bonavista Lounge. Though the '80s heydey of the hotel and "shopping gallery" has passed, it's still a stunning structure and iconic part of the DTLA cityscape. You'll zip up to the 35th floor in the exposed elevator, pass the steakhouse, and take a flight of stairs to the revolving lounge. My friend and I got right in on a Thursday night with no reservation, seated at a table for two right by the window. The lounge was indeed revolving that evening - I have been there when it was stationary. We ordered drinks - an off-menu classic old-fashioned and their lychee martini. The martini was sweet and strong, a generous serving in a stemless glass, garnished with an eyeball-looking fermented (?) item. We ordered one plate, salmon with rice and steamed veg - another plentiful portion, plated nicely. They've changed the menu from upscale American fare to sushi and Japanese food, so the place does have a faint fishy smell. Despite the Asian-themed menus, however, they surprisingly didn't have the Japanese whiskey my friend requested in his old-fashioned. The first time I came here, I ordered a cocktail in a collectible glass that was shaped like the hotel. I never appreciated how special that glass was, and likely in a move, I threw away or lost it. [Melting face emoji] The Bonaventure is a special place to come at least once for drinks or dinner. It's a sophisticated, relaxing way to get spectacular views of our city.

Updated menu! Underrated! This place is a must do when in Los Angeles. It's so neat to take people up there and see LA pass around you while you grab a drink or some food. They have a new menu (August 2025) and it's so much better. They can't have an extensive dinner menu because the Prime Steakhouse above has priority, but we frequently make it work for dinner. Bell Pepper Hummus 10/10 - delicious and huge. PRIME Cesar Salad -12/10 - amazing. It's the salad the steakhouse serves above, and it is delicious. 2 hearts of romaine so easy to share. Pulled Pork Sandwhich - 12/10 - amazing. The chef is from the south and this was some fantastic bbq. Highly recommend. There is never a wait. Go take someone special there and do a cool LA thing!

We visited the Downtown Bonaventure Revolving Lounge and had a great experience overall. This is one of those unique spots where the lounge slowly revolves, giving you a stunning 360° view of Los Angeles. I highly recommend coming around sunset -- watching the city lights start to twinkle while the sky changes colors is simply beautiful. I ordered a Lychee Martini -- it was absolutely delicious. My partner had an unsweetened iced tea, and he thought it was pretty good as well. For food, we tried the sliders -- amazing! My partner especially loved them. We also ordered the Loaded Chips, which came in a huge portion -- easily enough for four people to share. The flavor was nice, but the chips themselves weren't quite as crispy as I'd like, probably because of all the sauce on top. Still enjoyable overall. They also serve a complimentary Chex Mix to every table, and you can even ask for more if you finish it. I really liked it -- tasty without being overly salty (some places go overboard with salt, but this one was just right). Would definitely come back -- great drinks, great sliders, and an unbeatable revolving view of LA around sunset.

Go for the view, skip the food. This lounge rotates so you get a 360 view of the city. The view from the 35th floor is incredible. I went at sunset and really enjoyed it going from day to night. Drinks were good and I love the free snacks. I didn't care for the crab wraps. Service was so good. Very friendly and fast. I'd go back for drinks again.

Javier was so kind I really enjoyed the experience revolving around the restaurant! I was kissing rice so this definitely fulfilled my craving! The revolving part was so nice! Loved that I got to enjoy the view and slow down. I went pretty late maybe after ten and enjoyed my time relaxing. I'm so happy I went. No wait. I think I would have to come back and try other things on The menu!

    Lychee Creme Brûlée
    Harvey L.

The view is amazing, it's the reason i come here. But the food is generally mediocre. Today I got the lychee crème brûlée. Aside from the canned lychee on top, I couldn't taste much lychee in the actual crème. Overall it was fine but nothing special. They charge $6.5 for the water and they give you Voss. Don't know if they give free tap water but if you ask for "water" you'll get the Voss.

    Pork Bao appetizer yummmm!

What an amazing restaurant! Love the city views as the place slowly turns... We were staying the night for my husband's work party and had to stop in for a drink and appetizers! Wow! A very elegant/classy place! The host was very professional, seated us right next to the window and our server was a doll! We tried the crab lettuce wraps and bbq pork bao, both were just amazing! Our drinks were perfect too! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported somewhere else. Every room is thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere is immersive and unlike anything we've experienced before. The storyteller was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of alcohol and the stories behind each tasting. The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. Some guests may appreciate a heads-up, especially those who might feel uncomfortable or triggered by that arrangement. After the tastings, you're taken outside. A few of us stopped to use the restroom first, and when we returned, our friend had already left the table and all of our drinks had been cleared away. We were disappointed because we hadn't finished them. Our friend had been told she couldn't take the drinks with her, but when we returned we could take them outside. She was told that they'd be there when we got back. We were disappointed. The outdoor portion of the experience also felt a bit rushed. We barely had time to enjoy our drinks, let alone take photos of the beautiful space. The beignets at the end, however, were absolutely delicious and a highlight of the evening! Finally, we were escorted to the members-only bar, which was stunning. It gave off major Harry Potter vibes with its hidden, magical atmosphere. One of my friends was still finishing her drink on the patio since we couldn't legally walk on the sidewalk with it. Our hostess told us she'd come back for us but she never did. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. I'm hoping our hostess was simply having an off day, because with more attentive service, this experience could easily be five stars.
