They also were able to take some family rings could also needed some resetting and tell me more about the history of the setting from the 1920's as well as fix these old rings. We had a custom engagement ring made at Baraka. The process was fun, easy, and we were very happy with our choice of jeweler. We worked with designer Taylor, who put us both at ease with her humor and warmth. I came in with a strong idea of what I wanted but benefitted immensely from her guidance in stone choice, design details, and durability/longevity factors. In the end, we were able to make a decision between a full custom process (design from scratch) or modification of a setting they already carry. I was impressed by how much they could change about the existing design and choosing this resulted in significant cost savings. I appreciated being offered a more affordable option that in our situation ended up being the right choice. My partner and I could not recommend Baraka Gems enough! We went in to get my engagement ring resized and they gave us a very fair quote for the resizing as well as flagged that a few of the prongs might need to be worked on for the gems. So we signed the total quote for all the work. When we went to pick it up, they told us that all of the prongs looked good to the jeweler and they were tightened for free. They could have easily still charged us for that work since we already agreed to have it done, but they are an honest shop! Unfortunately, the ring wasn't quite the right size still (which we were told up front it might take a few tries to get it perfect since it's a really wide band) and they have it resized again for free. It's been about five years since I've had my wedding rings polished, so I started looking around for polishing services. I've heard of Baraka Gems as I live close to the area, so decided to reach out and get some pricing information. Claire was extremely helpful and very professional, answering all of my many questions, and setting up the appointment was quick and easy. The only hiccup was that I was quoted a certain price in email, and the person who I actually met with in person quoted at a higher rate. I was a little thrown off and disappointed, but upon reaching back out, it was confirmed that while they recently updated their pricing, they would honor the previous quote. I really appreciate their level of customer service - they certainly did not have to do that, and it made me feel like my feedback was heard and that they really cared. The second I engaged them for a similar sized follow up transaction they wouldn't give the time of day. There's only a few plausible explanations for why a customer in good-standing can't get 10 minutes of time to continue to enhance the profitability of the relationship. In conclusion Baraka turn away repeat customers when the customer is not to their liking insofar as the proper nationality or struggles with a disability. I tried many times in the 4 months since 2/20/2021 to get a follow up appt because this company is close to my home and I care about my neighbors and neighboring businesses health. Baraka never had availability within 48 hours for me. The first time I did business with them I successfully walked in their front door and things went fine. I walked out happy and left a 10/10 online review for them. Something changed since then. I love patronizing nearby small businesses. It's odd to have this be the only business for a 3 mile radius (at least) where I've had a very good experience at first and a NON-CUSTOMER FOCUSED APPROACH THE NEXT TIME. It's odd because the lifetime value of a customer really matters. In my years of running small businesses I've had to focus on repeat customers, I've never once seen such a situation as Baraka. I recently inherited a vintage gold tennis bracelet from my mother. She had taken out several of the links to make a pair of earring studs and a pendant. I wanted them replaced into the bracelet and the clasp needed repair. They also polished and cleaned the bracelet so when I got it back it was absolutely gorgeous and fit perfectly.
