I wanted to like this place but was turned off by the customer service!!! I've read other reviews that said that this is a friendly place. I did not have that experience!! I like to shop local and since I was having out of state guests who are who I love very much and are special to me, I wanted to get something special for them. When we visit them, they always have great stories of why they shop certain places and why the food is special. So I thought this would be a great place to get some background information on how they make the sausage and explain to my guests why the sausage is special and that is why I bought it for them. But a woman with short dark hair did not want to answer any of my questions about the shop. In fact she just acted like I was an idiot and was very curt and rude. So I don't think I will ever know how good the food is because I won't buy anything here. read more

Went in and asked for a 3 bone tv roast. Was told they don't do it that way. They do it by pounds. I told them I'm feeding four. I ended up with a one and half bone rib roast. The smallest that I have ever smoked. On top of not listening to my initial order they insisted they had to cut the ribs away and tie it back up. I am glad they are familiar with the common way to roast a prime rib but that is not what I am doing. I should not have to tell them 4 time, yes 4 times, not to remove the bones. The lady at the butcher shop is unbelievably rude--every interaction feels like you're inconveniencing her just by walking in. She barely acknowledges customers, snaps at simple questions, and acts like she'd rather be anywhere else. A little basic courtesy wouldn't hurt. read more

I have stopped going because of people behind the counter. They act like you should have everything you want should written down and you rapidly tell them. You are a waste of their time. Heaven forbid you point to the piece of meat you want and not let them give you the first piece they grab. Staff tends to have an ATTITUDE when taking your order or answering questions. A lot of their advertised offerings are actually frozen, not fresh as you'd expect from a butcher shop. My biggest challenge is their "THICK SLICED BACON" that really isn't as thick as the prepackaged offerings from a big box store. AND they wad it up into a goopy pile in a plastic sandwich bag. I was looking forward to my first visit. When I walked in, I found the store to be lacking in organization. Some stuff was in the frozen case, some fresh. There are signs everywhere. If they would organize stuff in the case and make bigger signs to group the sections, this would be a much better place to shop. I bought 2 Delmonico steaks @17.99 lb. These were the worst steaks I have EVER eaten. I don't shop at SavA-Lot but I bought steak there once. They sell Mexican beef. These were worse than that! No flavor, pretty tough. Both steaks were terrible. Don't waste your time or money. read more

It's been 7 years since our last encounter with the Butcher Palace. I swore I'd never be back, but my wife and daughter stopped on a whim to get some steaks and lobster. I can definitely say the steaks were fine, but that's where it ends. We paid nearly 75 dollars for three small lobster tails that were nothing but pure salt and not fit to eat. We took one bite and tossed them. That's nearly criminal. They also picked up a "homemade " peach pie that tasted like smelly feet. Sure get tired of being so disappointed. No more money of ours will support the Butcher Palace. read more

This is one of the best butcher shop that I have known. The customer service is exceptional. I am a big local business supporter. The prices may be higher but you know where the meat comes from and the quality. They were able to find some caul fat for me and I was so happy. I was able to make my meat roll from my aunt recipe. There are so much house-made sausage to try. I just have to get a checklist and try everyone of them. Thank you for providing an exceptional service. read more

meat is pricey but good, selection covers alot of options BUT the attitude and customer service rates a minus 2 stars. Unfortunately, that is not an option. If you do venture in, do your best to get the guy to wait on you. (he may be a butcher as he comes from the back) but he's the ONLY friendly, genuinely interested in helping you person that works there. If you ask one of the ladies about a specific item in the case etc, they respond as if you are bothering them. They give a flip answer and turn away to do something else. The first time this happpened I chaulked it up to them having a bad day. The next time my wife was there and came home with the same story. I just got back a few minutes ago saying it was my LAST! No matter how good or how pricey their food is, it's just not worth the aggravation of being treated like a second class citizen. There are plenty of other meat markets in the area that treat their customers with a smile and a friendly attitude. Try to meat dept and deli at Reiders on RT44. A little bit of a drive but IMO, well worth it. Plus you can do all your shopping in one place. (no, I don't work there) oh, and they only take MC/Visa. gl read more

We found this little market over the summer and are very pleased with it. Our daughter got married and insisted on a mashed potato bar. Barb & Patty's took the challenge of preparing 20 pounds of homemade redskin buttery mashed potatoes. They were the BEST! Everyone at the wedding raved about how good they tasted. All I can say is buyer beware. I ordered a "fresh" turkey at $3.59 a pound and when I took it out this morning to begin brining it was solid as a rock Frozen inside. I figure this is why you need a week to pick up a fresh turkey, so they can take a frozen out of the freezer and let it thaw. I think most people would expect a "fresh" turkey is a non frozen turkey. If I wanted a frozen bird, I would have went to GE and got a bird for $0.68 a pound. Never again will I step foot into this establishment. read more

I love this shop, they are so nice and helpful, and their meats are the best I have ever had anywhere! They have always taken so much time to help me with my special diet and their pricing is far less than other specialty shops. People that go out of their way to help me, I would never call 50 cents greedy!! The guy that was complaining about the 50 cent must never have owned a business, I own a business and it is impossible to make ends meet, just because you are busy doesn't mean you are profitable. We've been patrons of this butcher shop ever since they opened. Until this very day, I've been satisfied with everything. Today, I was amazed at how greedy these folks can be. I bought a prime rib and spent a little ove 60 dollars and was about to pay with my bank card and was informed by a rude counter girl that as of Nov. 1st, I had to give them another 50 cents to use my bank card. When I questioned this, she got real surly and said "if You want to vent, vent to the owner". She then proceeded to tell me they pay 3% to accept cards. First of all, the amount of business they do, (you have to take a number), dictates they should be paying more like 1.5 or 1.6%. If not, they need a better card service, rather than penalizing their customers. Whe n prompted by this rude clerk to again, "vent to the owner", I immediately told her that I vent by never spending another dime in Barb and Patty's again. For 50 cents, they've lost my business and whoever else I can convince that their greed doesn't warrant a loyal customer. read more
