YUM!!!!! Just writing this review my stomach is growing - truly one of the best bbq places I have been to. The smell on the street before coming into the restaurant made me know it was gonna be legit. I got the half smoked chicken and it was so so flavorful and delicious. All of their sauces are house made I believe, and they make the meal even better. Super reasonable prices as well. The chicken I got was so big I ended up not needing any sides. Service was pretty good as well. Wish I lived next door to this place!!!

Cool door inside

We went late last night like 45 minutes before they closed. Which I don't like to do because that can be annoying. However they served us with so much care and love. The bartender was holding it down for the bar and our table (I wish I could remember her name I know it states with J). She was very attentive and professional, Super friendly and warm. you can tell by the service of the other tables that they all put great care into their work. And to top it all off the food was so good. We split the brisket plate, side of Mac and tostones side of garlic. It was all really good. Idk if they make the bbq sauce but it was also very tasty balance of sweet and tangy. Very good. Will come back. if not this trip the next! Please go give this place a try!

We had a long day and took an evening nap. We woke up hungry, so we looked to see what restaurants were nearby the Airbnb. They're were so many restaurants closed or closing soon, but luckily Barbacoa was open until 10 with good reviews! I got hungrier as I reviewed the menu. Everything we ordered was so good, and quality was top notch even for how late it was (arrived roughly around 9). We loved the giant avocado, juicy shrimp, and crispy chicken wings. Whatever double IPA they had on draft was delightful! As we polished off our drinks just a little after 10, they were cleaning up to close the restaurant, but they never rushed us. Great service!

Texas burger

After a long day at the beach, we came here for dinner. Our last meal in PR was absolutely fantastic. I wish I would've taken pictures before we started eating. We had a whole chicken "a la brasa." Mash of the day was masked potatoes and carrots. Another two sides were Mac and cheese and a whole corn. My husband and sister in law had the Texas burger which had hamburger meat and brisket. Every single thing was delicious and so filling. The flavors were entrancing. They are huge portions, so I would recommend sharing. The place was clean and the service was excellent. It's in a very quiet area away from all the noise of Isla Verde, but close enough to where we were staying.

Brazilian casual kind of restaurant with good options. Drinks options are plenty. Service slow pasted but very attentive. We loved the smoked pork bites, for us the best we have ever had. Smoked chicken was typical, while the brisket was a disappointment.

Amazing food and awesome atmosphere!! The servers are amazing and drinks are even better!! The hospitality here is amazing! They are very welcoming and such good food!!

Chicharrones and rice!

Came here for New Year's Eve lunch! Barbacoa is our favourite restaurant on the island. We come here probably once a week if not more. The service, music and ambiance are amazing. Food is also consistently amazing. We always get Chicharrones bc it is the best most amazing dish we have ever had. Thank you Barbacoa! Hope you have an amazing 2024!

We ordered cheese balls, chili w/ beans and the brisket. The food was amazing and the portions were generous. We will be back.

We have shared Smoked Guacamole for appetizer and it was very good (it would have been simply great if it had a little more salt added).

My Husband and I are in Puerto Rico to celebrate our 40th anniversary…read more Besides Puerto Rican food we decided to try TomatePR because we love Mexican and the reviews were great. We were married in Zihuataneho Mexico, were spoiled with good Mexican food living in Chicago, and find after moving outside Nashville, we have craved better Mexican food, so we came here. Gina came to our table to make sure all was OK with wait staff, and food we were eating. Well, it was MORE than OK! Food was wonderful, made fresh, and all questions and requests were answered. She did make us feel like "old friends", and after a long incredible dinner, she offed us 2 tequila shots, and played our "special married song" for our special anniversary. We both had tears in our eyes as that was so special. She took photos for Facebook (but we do not belong) so we are hoping she texts them to my husband who gave her our number. Thank you Gina, all the people who took care of us. Please go there for an excellent meal, margaritas, and the best service. We are going to try to go back before this vacation ends. G&B

The tacos were very good not very filling. If you are super hungry, you definitely need a side or an appetizer along with them. The salsa was very flavorful and had a nice kick. My husband enjoyed his fajitas. I tasted a piece of the chicken and it wasn't really bursting with flavor but still good. About halfway through our meal live music started to play. It was a little loud, but not too loud that we couldn't hear each other talking. Cute environment waitress was really friendly. It's somewhere I would revisit and recommend.

We had the pleasure of being taken care of by Angelita and she made our delight her mission!! We began our meal with a bottle of The Fableist Cabernet Sauvignon, a beautiful full-bodied, but seemingly light, wine with vibrant, fruity notes of black currant and a hint of smoky oak. We then ordered the Crab Cassava Cake and the Vegan Ceviche appetizers The Vegan Ceviche was a refreshing medley of bright and fresh vegetables in a light lemon broth with a super tasty Breadfruit Fritter. The Crab Cassava Cake was an absolute SHOW STOPPER!!! The crab stew was bursting with true Puerto Rican "Criolla" flavor and was exquisitely complimented by a luscious and light cassava cake infused with tart, creamy goat cheese As a person who has never had a traditional crab cake due to a serious aversion to mayo, I was so stoked to try this version and it was absolutely worth the wait!! For our entrees, we selected the Grilled Salmon and the Chulekan. The salmon was perfectly cooked and served with asparagus and a hearty and delicious mashed Malanga (taro). The Chulekan is a traditional grilled pork chop preparation and Costa Azul has it perfected!!! The generous portion was incredibly flavorful and moist and topped amazing "mamposteo" style rice and beans. Both of our delectable meals were devoured with gusto! Overall, Costa Azul delivers on flavor, vibes and innovation and is a definite DO NOT MISS if you are in the Isla Verde/Carolina area!!!

For the sake of this review it important to know that I along…read morewith one of my other friends are two light skinned black women but the rest of our friend group are darker skinned black women. At first, the food was pretty okay. I got waited on and served relatively quickly. However, my darker skinned friends had to wait a longer time not just to order, but also to get their food. One of my darker skinned friends ordered three empanadas and only received two. When she tried to speak to one of the servers about getting her third empanada they refused. She said she was willing to pay for it, but they refused to serve her what she asked. Then, they said there's always a problem with "you people". Then all of a sudden they lied and said she was trying to scam them. As we're walking out, they start cursing at us and saying things like " I hope everyone except you (referring to my darker skinned friend) has a good day". The servers were overall very disrespectful, they cursed, and they were overly unprofessional. So even though the food was okay this was a horrible experience. As we were leaving, we saw two other darker skinned black women walk up to try and order. We told them about our experience and the servers started lying and saying that we are there every day and always causing problems. This was also untrue. That was the first time we've ever been to this restaurant. We walked a block down the street to wait for our car service. Then moments later, we bumped into the same dark skinned black women we saw earlier and they told us that their presence wasn't even acknowledged. So like I said even though the food was pretty okay. It wasn't good enough to be okay with the blatant colorism where it wasn't expected.

It's a teeny spot with only about 10 seats, so you may have to wait. We were lucky to go on a cloudy day and snagged a little table. Chicken wings, pulled pork tacos, and the pork stuffed tostones are all yummy. There's an herby green sauce on them that is out of this world. Fresh and bright. Mojito was good, I'd steer clear of the margarita (seems like a mix is used). The OceanLab IPA was local and yummy.
