I recently moved to the Gold River and had been looking for a new barber when I came across Barber and More. I just needed a quick low taper on the sides and back for a family event this weekend, so I decided to walk in and I'm glad I did. Gerald (Gerry), the owner, was able to fit me in even though it was a busy day. He was super easygoing and welcoming, which made the whole experience comfortable, especially being there for the first time. I showed him a few reference photos on my phone and he really took the time to understand what I wanted. During the cut, Gerry checked in often, explained what he was doing, and made sure I liked how everything was coming along. What stood out to me was how open he was to feedback. He even said if I noticed anything I wanted adjusted later, I could come back and he would take care of it no extra charge. That kind of customer service is rare and definitely appreciated! The fade came out clean and exactly how I wanted it. I'll definitely be coming back and would recommend Gerry to anyone looking for a solid barber in the area. Great meeting you, Gerry! read more

It's hard to replace a barber after 15 years of knowing your preference of hair style but life goes on.. Choosing a barber is hard. So you jump on one barber chair after another until you find the right one. Coincidentally Barber & More is next to my office so I went in and asked for a cut. Met Judie and asked if she cut with scissors (my requirement) but I knew she did as observed her barber set up. 6 months later I do not want anyone else to touch my hair! This place is HORRIBLE, my husband went in for a beard trim and left with a choppy buzzed beard. The guy just kept hacking at it until there was nothing left. The barber is the son to the owners, his mom finally had to come help to try to salvage what was left of my husbands beard. STAY AWAY!!! My BF rates this place as a 3.5 This barber/salon shop is pretty small. Two chairs. There's is a man and a woman working, both were very friendly. My BF got a typical fade. The man continued to ask if he was happy with the cuts and was willing to change anything if my BF asked. $14. The man was also super nice and offered to line up his beard for free, but made a few errors with some parts making it uneven. He had good intentions, but after we left we noticed these mistakes. I'm sure if we went back, he'd be happy to fix it. 5 stars for customer service, 3 stars for actual work. read more

The haircuts were average, but we were taken aback by some of her language, including making comments about how Black people don't wash their hair- and Black women go for two months without washing their hair. She also remarked that if they are half or "brown" then their hair is better. There were also comments about how San Francisco is "dumping their homeless in Rancho Cordova. On a positive note, she had a cute dog. However, the dog is not enough to make me want to patronize her establishment again. To the owner: We are all people, brown, Black and yellow. Please reconsider your attitude and language to be more accepting and inclusive. I know you probably don't mean it, and I think deep down you are s good-hearted person. I didn't realize how good my hair could look like until I saw a barber in Vegas. Since then, I've been on a quest to find someone closer to me to that can cut my hair like that guy. I went to places that cut my hair for $13 to places that cut my hair for $40. This was the 5th place I tried and finally a place that knows how to cut my hair. Judy is a wizard. I stood there in the front area I guess where you stand if you want a hair cut couldn't tell the place is so messy and unkept. Absolute WORST taper fade ever! My husband was in a pinch to get his hair cut as he has been working out of town and has been unable to make it to his regular barber. He went here thinking it couldn't be that bad since the average review is 4 stars. Well, was he and I were completely wrong. First, the salon was an absolute mess and then the lady, who said she was a barber, had no clue what he was talking about when he said a bald taper fade. Judie is great at what she does! Not only is she very friendly and humorous, she listens attentively to your hairstyle/haircut requests, gets to work and delivers. She says she's been cutting and grooming hairstyles for others since she was a pre-teen and it shows. She is open to all hair types, textures and ethnicities. I am an African-American female, and when I walked in, was greeted very hospitably by her and I also found the other barbers engaging and friendly as well. I explained the haircut I was seeking and Judie understood exactly, because 15 minutes later, I left the shop satisfied. Now I frequent Judie at least once a week for styling, many times at a moment's notice, and she always finds time to fit me in. Often times, one's concept of barber is of an older gentleman, who may well be too set in his ways, but let me tell you, Judie has flair and is very creative! I always leave her shop grateful, but wondering "how the heck I am going to re-create this" the next day! Lol. But gentlemen, she is also well-crafted at giving you the straight, no-frills "fresh from the barber" look and grooming that you enter the shop for. Very reasonbly priced too. read more

So I just moved side of town and I was looking for a barber just to give my kid a hair cut I walked in (NOT thinkin it was a issue if we was black a hair cut is a hair cut) so she said it will be a 5min wait , I said fine we will walk next door and come right back, I come back in Exactly 5 mins and guess what she left and closed up and she had to be moving too quickly because the closed sign was half way up , if we as black people don't mind getting our hair cut by a white woman then a white woman shouldn't have any issues cutting his hair or you could be honest and just say I don't know how to cut his hair , becaus the racist bs that was pulled only further lets my child believe he is not equal in this world , but we found a nice WHITE person in this neighbor hood who didn't mind cutting his hair and didn't tell us to come back so they could run out the door and I'll be calling the BBB because I'm not letting Anybody pull that crap read more

I have been here 3 times and I can promise you I will never be back because of the older man that works there. There are two people who cut your hair, Judy, who is amazing, and the man who is terrible. The first Time I went in, he butchered my hair right before I went on vacation and I had to get it fixed somewhere else. The second and third time Judy cut my hair and she nailed it, she was very sweet and did a great job. I went in again several days ago, waited as the man cut someone else's hair and was told he would be able to do my hair. When it was time I told him what I wanted done and he flat out refused, and said "I'm not going to do that shit". Well, I'm glad he refused because I'm sure it would have came out terrible, and got my hair done elsewhere. I will never be back.
