This restaurant was the first one named by our concierge when asked for an ole fashioned non-chain steak house. The staff welcoming, the decor is warm and the food outstanding. Our waiter was patient, started us with libations, made recommendations and never rushed us along. We started with onion soup au gratan (super cheesy) lobster bisque (light and creamy) caprese salad (plentiful) then onto filet mignon, tuna steak and pork chops with baked potatoes and french fries. Everything was cooked to perfection. Dessert was a delightful white chocolate house with chocolate mousse inside. OMG! We were then given a private tour of the wine cellar and banquet tables. Best of the best all around. Enjoy!

Great attentive service from our server Dan, appreciate you Brought us "extras", and gave us a tour of the extensive wine cellar. The meal was top notch; we left full and happy. Hope to see Barberian again.

This place was as unassuming as it gets. Shitty sign outside made me think I was gonna pop in and grab a mediocre steak and head back to the hotel. Boy was I wrong. You immediately get those old school 70's/80's steakhouse vibes as soon as you walk in. The food is terrific and the brussel sprouts are the best I've had for sure. They also do a cool little thing where they serve horseradish with every steak and not just the prime rib. That was a nice touch for sure. This was absolutely a pleasant surprise and that won't be the last time I come here.

The food here was good - the standout was the French onion soup - absolutely incredible! The steak was very good - my fiancée was a bit disappointed because he asked our waiter for a recommendation and told him he didn't like fatty steaks. The waiter recommended him a steak that had more fat and marbleing on it which is the opposite of what he wanted. So that was disappointing for him. Also we really did not like the Brussel sprouts - they were burnt and flavorless. Very nice ambiance though and otherwise good experience. Would return for the French onion soup but probably nothing else.

This was a spur of the moment place to eat. It's dark and old decor. The food was good, I had the onion soup and the pickled veggies were different and tasted good. The filet was cooked correctly and the baked potatoes, there is a person that comes around to top it. My wife had the tomahawk pork chop and they will ask you the temperature but she is a well done type of person. She said it was good. The reason for the 4 stars is that we paid for bottled water and the waiter poured the rest in my wife's glass where she had a soda pop and then gave me tap water.

Barberian's is an institution for a reason, as they know their way around the classics and keeps their quality high despite years in the field and a solid reputation. Service is seamless and ensures a comfortable meal. We took the opportunity during a recent celebration to come for a meal. Do not be fooled by the simple white nondescript entrance, as the restaurant is expansive inside with a dark cozy atmosphere. Think dark woods and dim lighting. We had the croquettes, french onion soup, the porterhouse steak, and strawberry cheesecake to finish. Everything from start to finish was perfectly executed. The porterhouse steak was of course the standout, as every bite was medium rare and delicious. A wonderful place to have a memorable meal!

Best Caesar salad ever! The bacon was a nice touch.

5 stars for their salad, pavlova and rack of lamb. I know this is a steak house so I deducted one star since my husband's steak did not meet our standards. Maybe the filet mignon would've been more tender but the dry aged steak was tough and chewy. Drinks are strong here! I appreciate it since this place is pricey. The place is small but has enough workers to accommodate every table. I'm guessing they sat us next to the bathroom since we made last minute reservation. My husband didn't mind it but I hated the fact people were in and out of the bathroom constantly with the door just few ft away from me. If this kind of stuff bothers you, speak to your host before seating!!

From what I had heard about this place, I was expecting a lot more. For two people the total bill came to $480. That was one snack, two salads, two mains and two desserts. Zero alcohol. The service wasn't that great. Our server forgot about us for most of our time there, and to be honest, the food was just OK. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money I would expect the food/service to be a lot better. The pricing on the menus have gone up significantly from the ones that are posted here on the Yelp profile.

You can tell this place has some history to it just from the pictures. It feels like it started off as an essential neighborhood pub with hearty meat and potatoes type of stuff. At this point it's a bit pricey/deluxe and still modest. If that's even possible. The large porterhouse steak was honestly quite exquisite. The baked potatoes are a cool experience because they come around with all the toppings and you can top it up to your liking. Went the whole nine-yards on this visit. Started with the Burrata, shared a large porterhouse which was more than enough, baked potatoes on the side, red wine to wash it down, and chocolate soufflé to top it all off. Magnifique! **kisses fingers and gestures**

One of the more disappointing meals I've had in Toronto. Fortunately the steak, a ribeye, was good and cooked to the right temperature. It was a little thin for my liking but a good steak, no complaints. I also liked the Brussels sprouts, cooked with vinegar, never had Brussels sprouts like them but in a good way. The real disappointment was the heirloom tomato salad. I love tomatoes and it sounded great (heirloom tomatoes with horseradish) but was close to inedible. The tomatoes had little flavour and were very mushy. Given this is the height of tomato season, they should have been great, these were the opposite. Heirloom or not, these are possibly the worst tomatoes I've ever had. Also had the grilled bacon and grilled salami, both were disappointing. The bacon was okay but not great (steakhouse bacon is usually on another level) and the salami was actually pretty bland.

But when Toronto…read moreLife hosted a special TL Insider dinner ($225 per person, inclusive of taxes and gratuities), curiosity won out. The prices listed below reflect the regular menu, though portions at the event were likely smaller than standard service. The evening began with a beef skewer ($31), featuring cubes of barbecued beef glazed in teriyaki and topped with plenty of chives. Unfortunately, consistency was an issue. Other guests raved about how tender theirs were, while mine arrived overcooked. It wasn't inedible, but it certainly wasn't tender. One of the restaurant's newer additions is its aged fish program, so I was eager to try the dry-aged salmon ($33). Listed as a "crudo," I expected delicate slices in a citrusy sauce, but it arrived as another skewer. The texture was undeniably smooth, with the dry aging removing any chewiness, but the salmon also developed a gaminess that lingered unpleasantly. A marinade or thinner slicing might help balance things out. I'm glad their signature Caesar salad ($24) remains excellent. It's beautifully balanced with acidity, savouriness, and thoughtful touches like buttery breadcrumbs and bacon bits that aren't rock hard. It's still one of the better Caesars in the city, though tableside preparation now costs an additional $10. Fans of tartare will likely appreciate the beef tartare ($41), which is prepared traditionally with minimally dressed hand-cut beef. Personally, I wanted more contrast in texture or flavour, though tartare has never been my go-to dish. I did appreciate the accompaniments of buttery crostini and gem lettuce leaves, which offered a lighter way to enjoy it. And for fans like me, don't worry their cheese bread puffs still make an appearance (along with their take home chocolate muffins). What continues to shine at Jacobs is the steak itself. The 40-day dry aged striploin was cooked beautifully, developing a crust that locked in the juices while maintaining tenderness despite being a leaner cut. The seasoning is more restrained, which allowed the volcanic sea salt and chimichurri on the side to actually enhance the beef rather than overwhelm it. The pecorino broccolini ($22) had me almost finishing off the plate and is such a nice accompaniment with the rich beef. The only disappointment was the duck fat fries ($21), which arrived lukewarm and slightly stale, likely a casualty of serving a packed dining room. Dessert ended the evening on a high note. The crème brulee ($21) was fantastic with visible vanilla bean specks throughout the silky custard. The sugar topping was thin and delicate, avoiding that overly sweet crunch some versions suffer from. Served alongside a sizeable chocolate biscotti and a fragrant orange shortbread cookie, it's easily large enough to share. With the expanded dining room, the front-of-house team has clearly grown as well. The staff is younger and fresher-faced, so any old-school steakhouse stuffiness has largely disappeared. More importantly, the service remains polished and attentive, and we were well taken care of throughout the evening.

Creamy, spicy, perfectly cooked pasta and one of those dishes where you keep going back for another bite even when you're already full. Drinks were solid too. The Pornstar Martini and the Hot & Bothered were both great and fit the vibe of the place. The space feels polished but still lively, especially around the bar. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

Perfectly lighted, which seems odd to say but yeah, it makes a difference. Service: Impeccable. Professional, friendly, helpful but also unobtrusive. The candied ginger hits with some zesty accompaniment. In another instant, you're transported to Southeast Asia with a soothing coconutty, tamarind (?) dressing and finally, your head turns (in a good way) when the jalapeño hits. Every bite was a trip. We were in a foodie trance when the next courses arrived. The triple fried French fries were as good as they sounded. There's no picture because my mouth was faster than my camera. The lobster & shrimp fritters were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with crustacean flavour. The sauce was another hit of tang and zest. I think the gastronomical term for how we ate them is "wolfing." The Brussels sprouts were smaller and more flavourful than you commonly find on menus featuring this on-trend appetizer. They were perfectly caramelized and seasoned. The peanuts offered a nice crunchy contrast. We finished with the lemon meringue pie which was a visual and sweet feast in and of itself. I favoured the crust and the meringue topping to the ultra sweet and tart filling but all three shone together in concert. The meringue especially was a gooey, marshmallowy party that spilled over the rest of the dessert. I finished with an Amaro Meletti, which was a nice caramel-cola flavoured digestif and would make a fantastic sorbet (hint to the chefs for a summer treat). Allez chez Aloette, gentile Aloette

The wild Quebec bass was fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked. The chicken was incredibly juicy and well seasoned. Although it came with a butter-based sauce, it wasn't heavy at all and paired perfectly with the bread. For dessert, the first one was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the ice cream was quite tasty. The six-course tasting menu was just the right amount for the two of us, although it might be a little small for bigger appetites.
