Went in as a group of three right when they opened on a Sunday morning at 11. All of us are fans of the chain, having went to college in a town with a Barberitos. The service was great--the guy I assume to be the manager or owner took the time to talk to us and checked on us. He made sure to let us know we could get chip refills too! Everyone that worked there was friendly and accommodating. We all got some form of a burrito--one regular, one mini, and one bowl. The people who were building the food listened to the special requests and filled them (I'm not huge on beans and they made sure I got the perfect amount). Ordered the food for delivery, there was multiple missing ingredients from the burrito and the burrito was not even fully wrapped, had a broken tortilla, and it was leaking everywhere (there is this cool invention called a slotted spoon I think barberitos should try it out). The burrito bowl was also missing multiple ingredients. who would think it would be so hard to read and add ingredients to 3 different mediums: Bowl, burrito, or taco. But apparently it is incredibly difficult. Whether you're ordering delivery or going in, pass up on barberitos until they can train their employees properly. They forgot to give the cheese dip I ordered, NO salsa at all with the handful of chips that came with 2 entrees, ordered black beans and got pinto beans because they don't have black beans because of water (totally understand this - but don't assume pinto beans are going to "work" for everyone) forgot to add the ranch dressing.....HOT MESS and can assure you I will NEVER order online again and not sure I will even go back there. This place was amazing the first time I tried it. The owner was there and made sure we had what we needed. They have the thinnest crispiest chips!!! So amazing!! The chops are si good you will almost forget the other food your ordered. Their cheese dip is fab. I like all the proteins I have tried here. We really liked this place. First off, it is in the Whole Foods shopping center, across from Ingles, so it is in a very good location. The employees are very nice, and waited while we looked over what we wanted in our burrito bowl. The ingredients were very fresh, my pork was tender, the salsa was good. I really liked the chipotle hot sauce. We really liked how the place was set up, when you walk in, you order at the bar, pay and then walk to the right, and all of the seating is separate from the registers, the salsa bar is to the side. Based on eating at Chipotle and Moe's, Barberitos is the meet-in-the-middle Cantina. It had way better quality meat than Moe's, (and no one yells welcome to you when you walk in, which is a plus to me, may not be for you), but less meat quality than Chipotle, but better extra toppings than Chipotle, but less than Moe's. It was a great middle ground, and sort of a perfect mixture of what I expect a build your own burrito place should have. The employees that were not helping customers were cleaning, so good job there. And the ones helping customers were doing a great job. We really liked this place. Excellent Mexican food at a good price! We like this place for fast casual Mexican in Asheville, NC. Whether you eat bowls or tacos, the consistently good, fair priced meals will bring you back for more tex-Mex food. I like the chicken bowl and the chicken tacos. Their salsa is nice and mild, good spices and flavors. I think they have good chips too. I know the beer menu is good for local brews. Our family likes it for fast casual and pretty healthy meals. They will make all of the menu to order so you can add extras or subtract stuff you do not enjoy. I like the chicken tacos with guacamole and no cheese. Chipotle salsa had the most flavor, it packs some heat. Staff was friendly, service was fast. In Asheville we have so many great restaurants which is unfortunate for Barberitos because that means we don't have to eat like this. So aside from the salsa tasting like preservatives and the tortillas like play-doh they didn't get the Asheville mission either serving drinks in Styrofoam cups and not recycling plastic or paper. Meh. I first tried a Barberitos in Savannah, GA. That place was awesome. This reincarnation is, ok. Portions were so so, everything looked fresh but it just didn't taste right. I disagree that it is better than Moe's, I would find if lucky to be on par. I do however very much agree with Paul H. in the aspect that they really need to pay attention to where they are at. Especially positioned near Earth Fare? I was there for lunch, Papa's and Beer were on a wait, even their neighbors, Marco's, had a line. It should have been packed and it wasn't. For the price, you are much better off going down the road to Papa's and Beer, or Rio Burrito in Biltmore Park. I'll try it again someday, maybe they just need to find their groove. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Food was awesome and kids ate free since it was Monday. Meat was full of flavor and prices are great. Tortilla chips are light and crispy, great. When I walked in, they were frying up fresh tortilla chips; I knew this was the right place. They came out crispy and light as paper, and they accompany every order. The chips alone are enough to draw me back. This is an order-at-the-counter and carry-your-tray-to-your-table casual dining spot. They offer a good selection of burritos, salads, tacos,and quesadillas - with your choice of a wide variety of meats and fillings/toppings. A great, no-frills burrito. After four trips, my wife and I have no complaints. The staff is friendly and the prices are good, and you don't get yelled at when you enter LOL!. The burritos are big, but not overly so they bust the tortilla. The chips are super light and very crispy. Everything I have tried has been really good. With all of the burrito joints in Asheville, this one fits the bill for being fast and good, but maybe not as "gourmet" as some of the other ones. Great place to eat! The corn salsa is excellent and everything is made fresh and they purchase the vegetables locally. They have a kids deal on Monday I believe, where the kids eat free with an adult meal purchase. The chips are addictive :) and they have free refills on the chips. Yet another burrito restaurant in Asheville, NC that I had to try... I'd describe Barberitos as a mixture between Moe's Southwest Grill and Neo Burrito. They have the same options, however, Barberitos advertises to be healthier. As a vegetarian, I was very pleased to see that they offer tofu on their menu and promptly ordered the tofu burrito bowl. It was delicious but tasted very similar to the Mexican food I had been served at other chain restaurants such as Moe's and Chipotle. As much as a health freak that I am, after devouring my dinner, I checked the Barberitos website and was delighted to find they have a nutrition calculator. This was an added bonus for me and proved that this company is working to promote healthier options and gives health freaks like me the option to know the exact nutritional information of my dinner. In the end, Barberitos is just another Mexican burrito joint that promotes health and offers salad instead of chips on the side (if that's something you want). Love this place. Love the spicy chicken and the tomatillo salsa. The queso is really good if you are in the mood. The mini burritos are plenty big and the prices are totally reasonable. There's great vegetarian/vegan options and a frequent roller card where you get a free burrito after you buy a dozen. Pretty sure the vegan option should be removed since the girl preparing the food is using her hands to dip out the cheese and then using the same hand to scoop out the other ingredients including the salsa. When I told her I didn't want the salsa because I saw cheese in it, she stirred the cheese into the salsa. I have been to this restaurant at least 10 times and have been very happy with my experience. The food is very fresh and tasty. Every time I've been there, the employees have been extremely nice and helpful. I'm not sure why others have complained about preservatives. Nothing in this restaurant has preservatives as the owner explained that they make everything fresh daily, from the salsas, guacamole, marinades to the freshly grilled meats.
