This place was nice! Friends recommended and it didn't disappoint! It's huge and busy! We were seated promptly and our waiter Julio was excellent! We had 6 people and EVERYONE loved their meal! That's says something! I've never had pineapple fajitas but now I can't go back LOL! it was delish and actually served in a pineapple! The have a salsa bar which I think is genius so you can get any type of salsas to go with your chips! Service is fast and good served hot n fresh! My only gripe (and I had to look hard to find one) is the shrimp in my pineapple fajitas was a tad overcooked!

Went to Papas and Beer restaurant on tunnel Road in Ashville NC. It was an awesome experience. They have a salsa bar as soon as you enter the door. 9 different choices to choose from. Mild to flamethrower with habanero. You can get as much salsa as you want too. They start you off with bean dip and chips. The portions are HUGE so don't go unless you are hungry, planning on taking some home, or want to share. Drinks are the same way. Go big or go home. I hope the guy whose picture I took doesn't mind. I needed an example of a margarita. My Brother in law with his thirst quenching 24 oz beer made me laugh. That wasn't even the large! They sell a 60 ounce beer for those that don't want to ask their waiter for a refill. Overall taste was great, the decor was interesting and this included a large outside eating area. The people were very polite and friendly and the prices were reasonable.

This place is the worst place I've ever ate at me and four of my buddies went here to get a good meal and got the complete opposite messed our drinks up not once but twice and on top of that there was water or some type of liquid on the bottom of the Cesar salad which was terrible didn't taste like a Cesar salad at all this place was very disappointing some of my buddies threw up so I will be taking this to corporate

I do not like giving bad reviews - but my stars are strictly for the taste of the food - very boring and bland - but absolutely love the fact that everything comes in a box - helps for future travel * I enjoyed it - to bad I didn't take anything but my water bottle - queso and guacamole- thanks again

Food was ok, nothing special. Had the bacon wrapped shrimp with soup, rice and vegetables in a cream sauce. Nice craft beer selection. Service was ok.

The space is very nicely designed and laid out. Plenty of room in a cozy environment. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, on top of being very effective. I was extremely pleased to find that they even had a few different vegetarian proteins for their various dishes. In terms of the food, I went with a burrito bowl with vegan chorizo. The presentation was fantastic: my photo doesn't do it justice. It was also enormous. Much more food than I could finish, but also delicious. There were so many layers of flavors and textures that really came together in a cohesive dish. The best part is that they offer three different house made salsas, which really leveled up the dish and the experience. I would absolutely recommend checking this place out. The very hip, somewhat low key vibe was comfortable while also feeling high end well designed.

He provided excellent recommendations. All of which we ordered and loved. The restaurant was bustling in the main room. It's more upscale but still a chill vibe. We had the chili relleno which was amazing. It came with both verde and roja sauces. Cheesy and gooey! It seeped a mixture of goat cheese, Monterey Jack, and cheddar. This should definitely be a staple on their menu. We also ordered the sixteen spice lamb which came with a delightful orzo pilaf and mint zhoug. So yummy! The last dish was the ginger cilantro shrimp. Yum! Very flavorful. It came with a cauliflower velouté, chayote, and pineapple pico. The dishes were the perfect size to grab a few and share. I can't wait to try their next menu which starts tomorrow.

Our service person was spectacular: accessible, professional, and thoroughly knowledgeable about the cuisine here in Asheville, N.C. It was a very enjoyable, promising beginning. I have to say, honestly, the food was good. In my view, the food was not spectacular. I can't say that it was bad by any stretch of the imagination; all of it was tasty. In all fairness husband loved his Shrimp dish. That said, the price of the food did not match the experience nor the expectation; such an expense would invite most restaurant guests to assume the cuisine would be spectacular. Like I said, the food was tasty.

The space gets a little intimate when the line gets long because apparently everyone else will likely also have the brilliant idea to come here but, lucky for everyone, the wait moves quickly. The asada salad is easily one of the best I've had: bright, vibrant, fresh flavors with seriously good carne asada. And the portions are appropriately sized for the price, which feels almost rebellious in this economy. But the churros, the churros... they are dropped in the fryer right in front of you then served hot and coated with actual grated cinnamon and sugar. Actual cinnamon. Revolutionary concept! As a vegetarian, it was alarming to see a staff touch raw fish with their gloves and proceed to touch all the fresh vegetables without a glove change. After letting them know that this happened, the response was only a "oh sorry" and back to regular business. Not only is this unappealing for anyone to see, but an incredibly serious allergy risk that they do not care about and kept putting veggies on folks food. This is the best burrito spot in Asheville, and now, I don't know I can support or recommend them in all good conscientiousness.

Sadly, it is over an hour and a half drive if we want to return. Alberto, the owner, was very welcoming, along with his servers and bartender. That day, they had a Mariachi band, which was really cool, and the music was great for the ambiance of the place. Alberto told us about his other restaurant, and I would love to go check it out one day as well. We observed him closely as he was speaking to all the patrons like family and was very good at answering any questions. There's a salsa bar that is included in case anyone wants to try their house-made salsas. They start you off with fresh chips and the dip they have. It is honestly the best we have had so far, and my husband loves Mexican cuisine a lot. It's a mix of refried beans with cheese sauce and red sauce. I ordered the Camarones Zarandeados-- Peel-and-eat shrimp, marinated in house seasoning, and garnished with fresh cilantro. Served with rice and corn. Along with a strawberry daiquiri. It was truly a dish I would want to return to eat. The seasoned shrimp were juicy, and I loved peeling them myself and getting messy with the juices. II usually dislike most rice made in restaurants, but this was definitely delicious, and I'd happily eat it again. My husband had a creamy burrito with steak , peppers onions , and olla beans topped with cheese sauce and served with rice , lettuce, and tomatoes on the side. His drink was a Corona margarita. It was a huge portion, and he was full after eating 3/4 of the burrito. It is interesting he said it was his favorite to date as well. We both tried the birria tacos , and OMG, they were so yummy!! The sauce made for them was perfect, and the meat was actually seasoned well. I've had other ones, and well, let's just say they weren't my favorite. We also tried the "paleta" shot. It tasted just like tamarind. That was definitthe order of ely great and refreshing even as a shot. We ended with the Sopapilla for dessert. It was truly a lovely evening with my husband after an almost 2-hour drive to Asheville, and I am eager to go back for the great food and ambiance.
