Definitely the best Mexican food I have found in Asheville. Very friendly staff. Order at the counter and they call your number. Plenty of tables but it does get busy.

Unassuming and casual "hole in the wall" that serves authentic Mexican cuisine. When searching the area, I found many popular Mexican spots that clearly weren't the real deal. I can't stand unauthentic, bland tacos. Thankfully, Taquería Muñoz provides delicious Mexican delicacies in a warm, homey environment. The staff are all kind and work hard to ensure customers are satisfied. Structure wise, I suggest signs be posted to say where the trash cans are. If you're sitting near the order area, you may not notice them. As a result, many customers left their trash at the tables for staff or upcoming customers to clean. I personally loved the sides bar to pick and choose the amount of salsas, cilantro, onions, and other toppings you want. I ordered a chicken tamale with 3 tacos- carnitas, al pastor, and pollo. Of course, the pastor was my favorite- I just wish pineapple slices were included. The pollo wasn't bad, but I wish it had more flavor as it tasted basic to me. The carnitas were not bad. Honestly, the salsas and fresh toppings really made it for me. The tamale was just okay, but with all the fixings and salsa verde specifically it was great. Their agua frescas come in HUGE portions. I got a peach agua fresca which was very sugary yet tasted like fresh peach purée. Overall, decent agua fresca. I just wish the pineapple one was available when I was there. This is the most legit Mexican you'll find in the area. It's definitely worth a try. The salsas really make it taste amazing. Is it the best I've ever had? Not quite. Is it very good considering the area? Absolutely, yes.

This place is a little jewel. Real street Mex with no flare - just simply-prepared food. The tacos were good and we missed the entire menu for the plates and will be sure to get a full plate next time. The salsa and fixings bar was clean and fresh and a great way to top your selections. Service was quick and the ambiance with brightly-painted walls, tables and chairs made the cramped space enjoyable.

Absolutely the most underrated restaurant in Asheville. In a town full of taco places, this is by far the best spot. It's not even close. I love that i can get a quesadilla on a corn tortilla and pickled jalapeños, onion and carrot mix from the salsa bar. I like how relaxed the atmosphere is. You order at the counter and there's lots of booths and tables to eat in or you can take out. Don't sleep on this place. Also hit up the little store connected as well for grocery items.

Taqueria Munoz is authentic Mexican in AVL. We opted for street tacos, asada. They were packed to the gills. Totally worth the price. The birria was served up on a plate of four and a huge side of consommé. Be sure to grab the house made juices, perfection. There is a condiment bar to grab up all the toppings you need for your deliciousness. There is a market attached for all your authentic cooking needs.

Some of the best tortillas I've had in my life! Taqueria Munoz will always be one of my favorite bites to eat! Their tacos are simple and pure in the best way. There are few ingredients but all of them are fresh and done well. I love their carnitas and steak which are perfectly seasoned and caramelized but the star of the show are their light, perfectly cooked homemade tortillas and sauces. I dream about their tortillas and wish I knew how to make them at home!

If you've ever been to a restaurant in a small town or village in Mexico, Taqueria Muñoz may seem familiar to you. The tables and chairs are classic style, a majority of customers are local Hispanic folks and the servers call your number in Spanish when your food is ready. Taqueria Muñoz is definitely authentic. Whether you like it or not probably depends on whether you enjoy a margarita and a good sit-down meal or whether you want true Mexican-style tacos, burritos, sapos and other dishes served fast-food style. Prices aren't high, but don't expect ultra cheap, either. For example, burritos are $8, tortas are $9, most tacos are around $4 and the dinner specials are around $13 or $14. No beer or wine, but you can get made-in-Mexico Coke.

Menu- sorry I didn't get the English side of it!

While they only offer a handful of items there are a host of options for those items! There are numerous meats available and a host of vegetarian options as well including Huitlacoche, Squash Blossoms, Cactus and more (even more crazy these were fresh not canned or frozen). I counted about 17 different meats or veggie options. The food was cooked fresh to order, and the portions were generous! They also have a cold bar with self service code sauces, salsas and toppings to further customize your meal. The service was great, and the workers obviously take great pride in what they do. The dining room and bathrooms were clean and neat.

Torta (asada) - this is only 1/2 the sandwich.

They have a new location in 'south' Asheville not far from the Biltmore Estate on Hendersonville Rd. It's just past the I-40 interchange. The service is prompt, prices reasonable and the food off the charts good. My go-to is the torta. They also have huitlacoche which isn't the easiest thing to find around town.

Delicious, authentic Mexican food here in Asheville. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. This is a no-frills establishment, but the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

This cozy Mexican resturant is perfectly tucked out of view, so keep your eye out when you pass on your way into Downtown Asheville NC! Connected to a Hispanic market this resturant is a walk up style of service where you order at a window and it's left at the top for you to pick up - great for those introverts! The food though, the food... outstanding. The best Mexican food you can get in Asheville hands down. Personal favourite s are the marinated pork quesadilla and a horchata. Incredible all around!

Incredible tacos. Generous portions. Loved the steak, chorizo, al pastor, and birria. All swings. No misses. Can't wait to return.

I always order the hot and it's just enough heat! I'm tempted to try the next level, maybe next time!! Their service is fantastic, you order at the counter and get to seat yourself wherever. Spacious, with a covered outdoor seating option, and it's quick! They have mastered every aspect of their chicken sandwich. The chicken itself is perfectly spiced and breaded, not too heavy or greasy - melty cheese and delicious ranch dressing. Paired with soft ciabatta to create a masterpiece. Their crinkle cut fries are done right - crispy and seasoned generously. I could drink the ranch. The fried Mac poppers??? Just incredible. Their fresh squeezed lemonade definitely gives a certain popular fast food chicken chain a run for their money... We will always make a stop here anytime we're in Asheville. It's worth every penny, every calorie, and every mile driven. If you haven't been, you HAVE to try it!

The tenders were sizable, which was appreciated but they were so tough and somewhat overcooked, resulting in a stringy texture. The flavor was pretty good but they were also soggy and not that crunchy chicken you usually look for in fried chicken. The sides were honestly better than I expected - I love the seasoning on the fries and the Mac and cheese was creamy. I would like to come back to try maybe another cut of chicken or the pot pie!
