Chicken quesadilla, empanadas, nachos, gringo taco!

Amazing food! Everything was super fresh and flavorful! We'd previously seen a show here and really enjoyed it, and revisited just for a bite to eat and it exceeded our expectations! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great patio to enjoy it on as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fun taco joint near the river arts district. The empanadas were the bomb, along with their house chips. The spicy chicken burrito was massive and turned into two more meals for my friend (epic). The season beef in my rice bowl was a unflavored unfortunately but overall we had a great experience. The beer is great, staff is friendly, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]outdoor seating is lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The service here is very quick considering the large crowds at comedy shows and concerts. I had the bean quesadilla with sweet potatoes, and it was delicious! I loved the diet RC Cola, also. I didn't try any alcohol, but my husband enjoyed the cider selection.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed the Grey Eagle yet. Unless I'm getting tricked and this is my follow up review. Either way, always a five star for me. Ive loved this place for years. I do absolutely despise the parking situation especially when it gets busy. I don't have a solution and I wish I did. This last time we ended up walking like half a mile and paying for parking downtown. The night I went here, which was last night they were two shows happening, one on the patio, one inside. Dang! Way to monopolize the space. Everywhere around here seems to be getting super busy. I will say on the patio you couldn't hear anything inside and vice versa, so they do have it streamlined. I've been dying to try the food. It always looks so delicious and my friends give it rave reviews. They have a ton of vegetarian options. I think the drink prices are pretty fair for the area and they have a lot of diversity. This place is my favorite concert venue as of now. A total staple.

Not sure what this is but this is what it looks like once I opened it.....possibly some kind of seed like thing

There was no shortage of great customer service! The staff was very friendly. Now that we've go that part out of the way....let's get to the food.... $8 for a single "Carnitas" taco with oriole slaw, onion, and sauce......2 partially grilled corn tortillas....the Carnitas were absolute mush. What's worst is I found something I can't even identify that was extremely crunchy. $5 for black beans on top of rice in an 8oz cup filled 2/3 of the way up. Daughter's chicken taco had an incredibly long black hair in it that we discovered halfway through our meal. I am all about keeping it local and supporting our community but the prices coupled with the issues we experienced proved to be too much for me to remain silent about. Sorry guys. We won't be back.

It seems all I hear about when it comes to tacos is stuff about "your mama"....a "duck"...and some "boy in west Asheville ", but the Grey Eagle is a true gem that gives you A LOT more food at better prices...and in this day and age in this town...we locals need a price break and deal for our work lunches...look no further than this place....great food...great prices....and funky...just like my hometown of Asheville

Asked for no beans and no onions... low and behold... there they are

Over 20 minutes for a sale that cost $27 they made incorrectly.... Truly astounding... If you can go somewhere else, do it

Left: Apple-A-Chian chicken taco, my fave! Right: Carnitas

This hipster, dive bar vibe restaurant serves up some legit tacos and burritos. While most concert venues offer your typical average bar food, Grey Eagle is a taqueria destination in its own right. Their tacos are fresh with a generous portion of meat, packed with flavor and that perfect bit of street taco char. Service is friendly and prompt. My fave is the specialty chicken taco - the Apple - A- Chia, the mix of sweet, savory and crunch is irresistible.

We couldn't even wait. Sorry. ‍

Ordered the nachos with beef brisket. There was as much fat as there was actual meat on the nachos. I would not recommend the brisket.

Got a $7 black bean and sweet potato taco. It was tiny, the potatoes were burnt and it was barely seasoned. Eat before you come here.

Imposter Mexican food. Tomato sauce salsa had no flavor. Sour staff disposition. Music was the redeeming quality.

The space gets a little intimate when the line gets long because apparently everyone else will likely also have the brilliant idea to come here but, lucky for everyone, the wait moves quickly. The asada salad is easily one of the best I've had: bright, vibrant, fresh flavors with seriously good carne asada. And the portions are appropriately sized for the price, which feels almost rebellious in this economy. But the churros, the churros... they are dropped in the fryer right in front of you then served hot and coated with actual grated cinnamon and sugar. Actual cinnamon. Revolutionary concept! I will absolutely be eating here again. In fact, every time I pass through Asheville, Mamacita is now on the itinerary.

As a vegetarian, it was alarming to see a staff touch raw fish with their gloves and proceed to touch all the fresh vegetables without a glove change. After letting them know that this happened, the response was only a "oh sorry" and back to regular business. Not only is this unappealing for anyone to see, but an incredibly serious allergy risk that they do not care about and kept putting veggies on folks food. This is the best burrito spot in Asheville, and now, I don't know I can support or recommend them in all good conscientiousness.

The space is very nicely designed and laid out. Plenty of room in a cozy environment. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, on top of being very effective. I was extremely pleased to find that they even had a few different vegetarian proteins for their various dishes. In terms of the food, I went with a burrito bowl with vegan chorizo. The presentation was fantastic: my photo doesn't do it justice. It was also enormous. Much more food than I could finish, but also delicious. There were so many layers of flavors and textures that really came together in a cohesive dish. The best part is that they offer three different house made salsas, which really leveled up the dish and the experience. I would absolutely recommend checking this place out. The very hip, somewhat low key vibe was comfortable while also feeling high end well designed.
