Recently ordered a burrito bowl that seemed to be only half the amount of food that is normally in their burrito bowl. When I asked about the smaller volume I was informed by the employee that the restaurant is reducing the portion sizes they are serving. They have not dropped the prices to match. Idk WHO the old lady working was but she had me FUMING she gave me rice she claimed had been there "ALL DAY and nobody had complained" til me when I told her my rice was HARD on a $15 THREE ingredient burrito. She argues with me for 2 whole minutes and (at this point i raise my voice) only then she said she would remake it because I'm pregnant. I have NEVER raised my voice at a worker like this and if it wasn't $15 she was tryna take I wouldn't have. FIRST OFF A $15 THREE INGREDIENT BURRITO And you can't even get that right SECOND I've worked in customer service for 3 years and I've NEVER told a customer "your food is fine" with a f*cking smile when they complain. THIRD The bucket of rice had THREE SCOOPS MISSING so no DUH nobody complained NOBODY ATE IT BUT ME FOURTH They were about to throw out a line full of food and this old coot wanted to make a stink about correcting her mistake when she was leaving food out for so long that STEAMED RICE SOLIDIFIED. Got food poisoning and ended up sitting on toilet with a trash bag in hand... The chicken was over salted and I put too much faith in the slightly wilted spinach and brown iceberg lettuce. Restaurant needed a hose and some TLC. Very dirty inside. Nice workers and friendly atmosphere did not predict my experience at around 10:00 pm that evening. Never again :( read more

Lazy rehab employees. Used to be good. Now is awful, nothing is ever stocked, warm, or made correctly. Burritos ripped all the time. Girl dumped almost a whole cup of cilantro on my burrito like it was lettuce. Absolute trash. 2021 they were on point. Manager cussed me out too on the phone because they forgot to make my order. Quality of food has been slowly coming back to what it used to be 10 years ago. For a long time the chicken and the veggies they served were not fresh because of new management that also kept hiring just the worst people with attitudes. Now that I haven't seen that manager only within the past couple months the ingredients you see on the line look like they've been prepared same day. Chicken was cold and had an off taste. When picking out my toppings, all the items has pieces of other toppings mixed in them. The chips were stale. Will not be going to this location again. The best one in Athens is on Epps Bridge. It is clean and the staff is very friendly! read more

I'm not sure if they are all this way these days, but the quality of Barbarito's has gone down so much. This is a local franchise originating from Athens. The corporation obviously isn't caring or giving enough oversight to the quality. Consistently over the past year the Eastside location is just horrible. Half the items on the line either frozen or missing and not available. Employee is obviously giving food away to their friends and ignoring customers. Garbage everywhere, mold, growing out of the drink fountain. Employees picking their teeth and then making food. I will never go back. We used to eat there about once a week and use them for corporate catering all the time, but no more. read more

Was really looking forward to a spicy steak burrito, only to be disappointed. The rice must have been really old and dried out, it was impossible to chew. The meat was also tough and not enjoyable. We had to go to UGA for our dog and so we were recommended to try this place out as it's like Chipotle but local. It was like that, but I felt the food was pretty bland and even the salsas at the salsa bar didn't help. Normally this would put it at 3 stars for eh and average, but there was a stink in the restaurant that I could not ignore or overlook. It smelled like something gone bad or the place was cleaned with old dirty mops. The smell greatly increased near the salsa bar, so I don't know if was the dirty mats back there or the restroom. Either way the visit left me not impressed and probably won't return. read more

I've been coming to Barberitos for a while, and had a craving last night so went to the east side location. It was a good experience overall - good food (as usual), good service, good price. I got a steak quesadilla which was super cheesy, and this time I added the mango salsa (which is new). It was tasty - not sure if it's worth the up charge but I did get a good heaping scoop so if you want some fresh taste go for it. I regretted adding olives, since it way overpowered the flavor (very canned), but otherwise a good dinner, as you'd expect. read more

Went there at 9:20pm the staff working seemed aggravated by the fact I was there. They did not have hardly any supplies ( I know it's late) but ultimately it was 40 minutes before closing in Athens of all cities. A staff member then informed us they were out of chips then turned around and fried some for another customer. So I have visited this Barbs many times since my last review and I have to say that it has definitely risen in my book. Maybe I had to figure out the right thing to order but Barbs has definitely grown on me. I love their spicy chicken with fresh jalapeños, no one else offers anything quite like it. I always get a spicy chicken burrito bowl and a small side of queso, and that is the perfect combo for me. While I feel like there isn't much rice when they are making it, the balance of all the ingredients is pretty perfect the way they make it at this location. If you have company to share with, definitely get the queso & guac combined (only comes in large). It's delicious and makes most other quickserve queso pale in comparison. Also a note, lunch at this location can get really busy so if you are visiting around lunchtime, be prepared for the line stretching to the door Love this Barbs and will def be back much more! read more

Let's start with the food. It's standard Tex Mex fare, but made with what seem to be top notch ingredients. Pair that with the experience of the majority of the staff, and you have a very tasty combination. Speaking of the staff, they are the reason that this review is Five Stars. Even when busy, they bend over backwards for customer satisfaction. For example, when a burrito was being made, it burst on the last wrap. Without hesitation, the gentleman making our food (John, perhaps? I failed to get his name) immediately transferred the food to a fresh tortilla. The staff also make great recommendations, and accomodate customers with uncommon tastes or needs. Constantly disappointed in this Barberitos location. The Eastside Barberitos does not meet the standard of its sister locations. No matter the time, the food looks old, the salsa is always empty, and it appears the staff can not handle more than 3 people in the restaurant. Took a quick trip to Barberitos around 2ish, so lunch rush was gone for a quick grab of a meal. I decided to ask the person crafting up the food if I should get a burrito or a burrito bowl. She recommended the bowl as people think bowls get you more food, and she mentioned it would go well with the chips. So it was a pretty nice suggestion from here. All the ingredients looked pretty standard from what I could, rice looked a little dry, but I moved on with the order. Eventually get to the register to pay for the meal, and it just so happens that the scanner to pay with the app and get rewards wasn't working... Tried a good few times, and it was unsuccessful. I figured their scanner would work as I was interested in trying their new app out. The staff member working the register said I could pay another way, but I left my wallet in the car and now I am frantically trying to pay via Apple Wallet. After a bit of figuring out how to do that, I successfully paid and left without getting any rewards for the app. Would have been nice to known to begin with or I would have went elsewhere. Bowl tasted alright, and the chips as always taste flavorless. Was not a good trip this time around. read more

I love their food, but this trip was not up to par. I went to wash my hands in the restroom before ordering my food. The restroom was horrifying. The sink, toilet, walls and floor were filthy. I thought, I've seen worse, so I'll let it ride. Ordered my food, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I went to the salsa bar. Once again, filthy. No telling when the last time was that the splatter shield was cleaned. The salsa Verde was watered down and had poor flavor. The smoked salsa was awful. I've never had salsa there that tasted that bad. I looked at wall where the food service rating was posted. The service rating was 81. These were the highlights. Unless things change, I'll never go back. read more

I have tried not to like this place since I'm trying to eat more health-conscious foods, but i have to admit the burritos here are pretty darn good. We go here about once every other week (sometimes more:) and enjoy it. I would rate it higher, but the service (which is never really terrible) is not very consistent. Some employees are amazing while others are a little 'blah' when it comes to service. There are also large inconsistencies in portion sizes depending on which employees are working. (You tend to get more in the mid afternoon.) Not that I'm a pig :) but I should be getting close to the same thing for my money each time. They're probably also losing money on inconsistent portion control, so if you're a manager reading this...you might want to take a look at that. But overall....it's a decent place to eat. read more

Fresh ingredients and cool people is what you will find here. You may think this is just another burrito shop but their style and service will beat out the competition. They always have good consistent food. They are a bit pricey but the food is well worth it. They have a variety of options for both vegetarians and meat lovers alike. My favorite is the spicy chicken spinach wrap burrito with black beans, it is awesome. All the toppings are free with the burrito so add away. read more

Don't order food online from here. Gave me food poisoning. Rice and Beans were so hard seemed like they were half cooked or left over night. Tofu was stale too and guacamole wasn't fresh either. Very competitive as far as Tex-Mex places go. Flavor and portions are good. The free chips are a great bonus, but the salsas are very strange and I don't like them. They give you free lemons and limes so that almost makes up for it. The mango salsa is delicious. read more
