Somewhat hidden gem for book lovers. Crowded well-stocked bookstore. A large variety of books if you have time to browse. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend visiting this place. Gentleman working on my visit reminded me of grandpa.

    Lovely living geography book.

I absolutely love this bookstore. It was like a beautiful treasure hunt through a huge selection of books both newer and old. I left with several great art books and several antique rare first editions. I will be back.

If you're looking for the latest release or brand new books, this isn't the store for you. I love used and antique book stores, so I was excited to try this store out. Good selection if looking for non-fiction, moderately decent fiction selection. Good selection of kids books. Questionable how accurate most of the Non-fiction is as most of the books are extremely dated (Fiction included) Obviously the historical books would be fine, but I could definitely see much of the other nonfiction information being unusable. The sections are all labeled differently and can be in different locations on the shelf, so it's easier to ask whoever is working where the section is that you'd like to browse. There is no organization system for the books outside of the genre. As a horror and Stephen King fan, I enjoyed the special section just for his work, and it was decently priced. I'm not sure who the employee was that I met, it was an older man. He was the only worker. The man was standoffish; did not greet me when I said Hi when I walked in, and when I said "Have a good day" as I left, he simply said "Ok", nothing else. I'm not expecting a full on conversation or anything, in fact I would hate that. But some reciprocation of manners would've been nice. I found the label for the women's section hilarious, in a bad way. I'm not sure why manners are relegated to women. The 'don't snicker' comment tells me the owner is aware that the label is offensive (and ignorant), but decided not to change it. For what reason, who knows. I also found the inability to make a new sign for the spelling mistake to be odd and a poor reflection of the owner.

This cluttered, spiraling, book depository filled with nested corridors and hidden rooms is as much an experience in discovery as it is a store. The atmosphere is transporting, a great quality for a used bookstore. It's easy to feel lost in here. The transition from the sidewalk of downtown Fort Worth to the Entering the front door of Back Door, one encounters snaking passages lined with books in several directions. I found it a bit difficult to discern the organizational scheme. But, for me that was part of the fun of it. I found myself wandering the rooms, ducking under duct work, looking for areas of interest. The owner and his son are typically behind the counter and round out the local feeling of the store. Prices are good. If you're looking for a specific title, Back Door doesn't offer the kind of selection that a large Half Priced Books will provide. But, it's a fun down town browse. And, if you're the type of reader who can find something on impulse, you will likely make a discovery here. Afterwards, go next door and get a coffee from the guys at Casablanca Coffee, maybe sit and read for a while.

Looks great but very limited hours and closed at a time it should have been open. Few blocks from downtown. Local TEXAS books, cookbooks and lots more. Hope to hit it while open.

If you're definitely sexist, probably racist, and aren't a big fan of any books published in the last 20 years or so, have I got the used bookstore for you. The best thing going for this place is it's really big and has good used bookstore vibes with a narrow corridors lined to the ceiling with packed shelves of books, and the classic used bookstore aroma. For me, that's where it ended. I only had about 20 minutes in the store, which was just enough to browse all the sections and read the headers, with a little extra time in my typical favorite sections. It's rare to not find something in a store like this that piques my interest and temps me to buy, but that's how I felt. To be fair, I was immediately put off by the tasteless section headings written by a proprietor who clearly thinks insulting people different than him constitutes a sense of humor. I'm sure he would respond that I just can't take a joke and there's nothing wrong with a little good natured jesting about book topics, and that he loves his mother and has a black friend so I'd better not think of calling him sexist or racist, but when you literally have separate sections for fiction and women's fiction, and autobiographies and women's autobiographies, you're gonna have a hard time convincing me.

But if you are looking to browse books (or DVDs or music), this was a good experience. The staff were friendly and willing to give recommendations. I have been to most of the HPB in DFW, and I visit four locations on a regular basis. HPB Ridgmar's selection is on the bigger side, enough that the categories get as specific as "quilting" and "Texas football." (In other words, there are a zillion books here). Honestly, it's a bookworm's delight. I found several books and DVDs from my to-read/to-watch lists. The prices were on par with or beat the same items from other HPB locations. This HPB location also ranks toward the top in cleanliness and organization (books kept in alphabetical order and easy to find despite constant client browsing). The children's area is clean and inviting, with stuffed toys to entice kids in. The store also has a few tables and chairs, which I appreciate more the older I get.

Friends of the Keller Library is actually a nonprofit that benefits the local library. Most of the books they sell were donated by people or other stores, and all the profits from the sales go back to supporting the library next door. I've been to other similar stores around the state and was pleasantly surprised at how organized this one is. The volunteers working there were also very friendly and helpful. I also like that they had a station with complimentary coffee for customers. They didn't have the largest selection of books, but the children's section was really nice so I would definitely recommend this place for families. Last but not least, they also had free magazines towards the back of the store which I thought would be great for school projects or vision boards.

I would recommend stopping by this charming book store they have newer as well as older books. The address listed is wrong they have moved to 640 (B) Johnson Road next to the Keller Public Library.
