I asked why and also asked if he was being racist. He gleefully responded yes. After we left he chased us away from the front of the bar, screaming slurs no one should have to hear. Service was a bit inconsistent. The bartender wasn't very warm or welcoming to us initially, though that changed once our friend--who is a regular--arrived. Overall, it's a comfortable spot to meet friends and hang out for a few hours, especially on a weekday like Thursday. That said, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I can see why it works well as a local neighborhood hang.

Crowd skews heavily undergrad, and the place is loud, so it's not the spot for an intimate one-on-one or a real group conversation. It's built for a different kind of hang: elbow your way to a table, keep your hands busy, let the noise do the rest. There's also live jazz most nights, which adds a nice layer if you catch it at the right time. Neat place, just know what you're walking into.

Actually the bartender came up and said they were out, would I want a 18 year or 20 year, something like that. it was a bit more money but it was he last beverage of the weekend trip so I got it. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. Despite the drinks and despite the crappy service on the second visit, we will likely come back the next time we're in town in hopes of finding a bartender who understands the job. It's near other stuff we like, and the music and vibes were that good on the first night. And if it sucks again, there's like a thousand other places in walking distance.

Super fun date place with surprisingly good bar food! It gets insanely crowded on the weekends (Fri & sat) but generally a cool place to hang and grab a drink ($9-12). The games mostly classics and use a token based system. They have machines that exchange your cash but beware of exchanging too much since the tokens can only be used at Barcades. Generally games are 2 tokens (50 cents) but considering a game is 2-3 min a play, your money vanishes quickly. They have my absolute FAVORITE arcade game, Crazy Taxi, and I must have sunk $20 into it tonight. I also tried a variety of the bar food here which surprised me with how delicious it was (I have very low expectations for bar food). The sliders were fantastic. My favorite was the fried chicken with bacon slider which had a tangy sauce on the sweet brioche-like bun. The normal beef slider was also really good. They interestingly enough have a Korean fried chicken burger that I thought was too salty. Often crummy and overlooked, Barcade also does a delicious hummus veggie platter with pita bread! The hummus is spicy and the best part is the roasted broccoli. Most places only throw raw broccoli on and call it a day. Roasted is the way to go! Considering the copious amounts of soju on the menu and the location on St. Marks, I can safely guess a lot of NYU students frequent this bar. I usually have a good time here, and so decided to host my 30th birthday here tonight. There were two things which ruined my birthday though. First, the Nintendo Players Choice machine has a glitch which tells you time has run out (when there is plenty of time on the clock) and eats your credits. However, what really RUINED this night was the bartender. My fiance had brought a box of cookies for my birthday from my favorite bakery and we left them on the table with our jackets and bags on the chairs. At one point we looked over and noticed that the box was gone. I went to the bar to inquire, and saw the box open, next to the bartender (dyed red haired irish woman), sitting on the bar with most of the cookies eaten. I asked the bartender why the box was at the bar and she told me the manager had cleared them from the table thinking we had left. I asked to speak with the manager, at which point she changed her story. She now said that the manager had moved the box to the end of the table and the bartender cleared them, but that someone else had opened the box. I am flabbergasted at the gaul of this woman to take a box of cookies from a table with jackets and bags around and start munching away. I will not be back. read more

I've been coming here for a long ass time. It's very chill. The service is mediocre but they get the job done. The food is good but overpriced. You're here for the games. The games are good, but have never changed. The place is small and you never get service indoors. My main issue with them, one time a bartender came up to my and my friend and said we weren't allowed to drink while playing. UM? It literally is the concept of the bar. He told us to leave our drink on the main table while we played. Our full drinks without a lid...behind our back while we played games.... Very date rapey. It was confusing and scary because we asked the main bartender he had no idea what the guy was talking about. Of course you can leave you drinks on the table next the games. Came here last night, Monday the 16th. HORRIBLE bouncer. Harassed me at door after providing him my passport since my drivers license was expired. When he handed my passport back, he immediately raised his voice (in response to nothing) at me, asking me what was wrong with me and continued to berate and misgender me for about 5 minutes in front of my friend. I tried to apologize to deescalate the situation, and he started yelling at me to stop apologizing and to respect him. Disgusting. If it wasn't for the lovely bartender who was awesome, Craig (5 stars for him), I would never come back and strongly recommend people never come here. The drinks here are about $10. The place was super crowded and I was hard for me to move around. Reclaimed wood floors, deteriorating bar stools. Good windows for people watching on ave A. Oh and the very best part is the music!! If you like classic rock this place is THE F****** BEST!!! Pls don't come in and try to ruin the vibes. Forgive my snobbery but if you don't like classic rock there are a million other bars and events to go to in this city playing your top 40 or whatever, but I come in here in large part because I love the music they play.

A lot of songs were sung like Corcovado by Kim Austin, Swax by Deb Auer, Wave D by Steph Walker and One Note Samba by Leeolive Tucker to name a few. The open mic had several musicians who played well and everyone enjoyed it immensely. Even though Jazz by Jorei is held from 8:30 pm till 12:30 am, I find that I stay for as long as possible. Today there was plenty of food and chocolate cake for Kat who is the tireless organizer of this wonderful weekly jazz session.

BUT they do have red stripe in bottle for $6 and I'm willing to settle for that. Totally unsure on fancy cocktails or if there is a cocktail list because it's not that kind of bar. Very divey. Not as divey as Blue and Gold or Tile bar. Has kind of a retro diner vibe to it with the booths along the wall that I like. Weird dim red lighting. I'm into it just not sure if I'm into it enough to come back. It's cash only. It's a-okay.

Came in on a Sunday and it was pretty empty. The bartender wasn't friendly at first because she did…read morenot think I was going to stay, so when I asked to use the bathroom, she was a little short with me and said it's for customers only but when she realized I'll be staying and ordered drinks she did become nice. I understand it's probably their policy but was still a little taken back by the unfriendly greeting. They do have phenomenal espresso martinis so worth the trip for them and I did end up having a good time at the end, even though it didn't get much busier.

I wanted to come back so badly, but my girlfriend didn't. Service was nice, but they are busy. Ambiance is nice, but I sat at the bar so can't really speak on the patio views
