A week ago, I attended jazz at Sugar Mouse and it may have been the finest performance ever. Deborah Stevens was the main attraction. Dressed in a brown cloche hat that glittered under the light this lady depicted 1920s flapper style. She introduced each song from Duke Ellington. Her coterie of singers then sang beautifully. Angela Arthur sang. Lee Olive sang "It Don't Mean a Thing." Laura Jean sang "Sophisticated Lady." Mike Young sang and played "Take the A Train." Caravan and Don't Get Around Much Anymore were also sung. The singing was both enjoyable and electric. Ad-libs made it unusual and I found it enchanting. The band especially the cellist played with zest. Maki, a young twenty year old, played the saxophone and looks like he could be a star. Kat Ross Reilly, the organizer of Jorei Jazz and Johnny Johnson are the team that created this entertainment. Johnny also is the drummer in the band. Sugar Mouse is a gaming venue where Jorei Jazz band plays every Tuesday evening from 8:30 pm till 12:30 am. Donations are what sustains this music. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! "security guard " yelled at me for using elevator. Where there is no signs that I can't use it. I have a torn ligament in my ankle that is still healing. When I went from the second floor, (which is the street level) to the first floor (to where the bar is) I was met with him yelling at me saying that I cannot use the elevator. I responded with, "okay". He then continued to antagonize me as I was walking away, saying that if I had an attitude that I can leave. I responded with, "all I said was OK" he continued to chase me down and badger me until I was around my boyfriend and my brother then he backed off and left us alone. This is my first time at this location and I can promise you that I will never come back. prior to the security guard attacking me, I was having a good time with friends and family. Please keep in mind that during this altercation, I am 5'2" 115 lbs girl, that was injured and by herself. The "security guard" was 6'3" and 245 lbs. please get rid of bad employees at this establishment. read more

We had so much fun at Sugar Mouse! It's better than your typical bar. There was so much to do. They have pool, darts, and other fun table games. They also had a few bands playing the night we went. They play loud music that had me dancing and singing throughout the night. They also have food and drinks. They even have arcade games and a they had a DJ later on in the night. Maybe it was the night we came but everything went wrong that could go wrong about a bar. There was only one bartender working which no fault to her, I felt bad, so naturally it took a long time to even get an order placed. The bathroom was closed because plumbing issues, you could clearly see water all over the floor leaking out in front. read more

They have many bathrooms and they were all clean. The artwork around the space was cool. The music playing was tasteful and the sound level was not loud at all. What I got: 1 Hour of Pool/Billiards (~$25) Aya's take: Sugar Mouse is such a hidden gem!! They've been open for ~1.5 years now and I'm mad I'm just hearing about it now. Endless games, popular music, and screens everywhere to enjoy sports. We stopped by for 1 Hour of Pool/Billiards which is a freaking steal for $25 in the city! They have 6 pool tables that are first come, first serve. If you're not able to snag a pool table right away, you can grab a drink or play free, yes free, arcade games! They have about 10 available. I spent some time on Mario Bros which was super nostalgic and fun. If they get Ms. Pac-Man, they will literally need to drag me out of here next time. We also shot some darts and played some foosball ($1/game). I hope this place is here to stay! Definitely a great place to just hang out with a date, friends, or work friends. We spent about 2 hours here and it started getting busier around 6pm (on a Saturday). Highly recommend! read more

I recently came here for the first time to attend a concert of a friend's band and immediately liked the space. It has a very eclectic feel with the arcade games, pool tables, and even a beer pong station. The live music space is tucked off on one side of the venue so only people with a ticket can access it. I had a good one and the acoustics were great. The staff was attentive and immediately helped adjust when the settings weren't quite right yet. Drinks were great too and saw a bunch of people walk around with yummy looking food-- something to try next time! Definitely love finding fun, new live music venues! read more

Similar to Sour Mouse bar, you will find different sections where you can dance, play some pool, or play some foosball. It can get crowded very quickly, which makes ordering a drink or food a nightmare. It was my first time being here, this place is cute. Fun place to enjoy with your friends. Because of this even get to meet some good people, some Bangladeshi Comedians , some amazing singers & actors . Everyone was so very nice & respectful. Loved the vibe a lot. I came here for a birthday one evening and thought that it was a pretty nice space! The interior of the bar is very spacious with lots of things to do: from table tops to chat with friends, to pool, to a live DJ, and more. The music was pretty good and drinks were alright. DO NOT RENT THIS SPACE FOR YOUR EVENTS ‼ 0/10 STARS FOR UNPROFESSIONALISM. Staff was almost 30 minutes late to open the venue... everyone waited out front in the cold. Space was not set up the way I paid for it to be. Tech (display screens, mics, speakers) didn't work correctly. Staff had "no idea" how to fix any of the problems but were able to run their own ads for the venue from the screen all night. Staff was so rude to multiple guests that they left the event. I will never be back and recommend it to no one as a venue. If you want to come here to play an arcade game, thats about all they're good for. Don't expect good service. read more

I saw their current promotion for 1 hour of free game play on social media till August 3rd so visited with some friends. It's in the basement level so there's some stairs to walk down (I think I did see an elevator). The AC was on blast which was much needed in this hot summer weather. The whole area gives bar vibes as in lighting is scarce aside from the wall projections and a few spotlights on the play areas. After leaving an ID and credit card with the staff, we were able to choose between one hour of pool or ping pong. There's 2 ping pong tables and 6 pool tables. We went with pool as the ping pong tables were occupied. Whichever one you choose is the one that you'll have to stick with for the entirety of your visit. They will give you the pool balls and pool playing sticks are on the wall. My friends and I haven't really played pool before but after a while, we were able to pick up the hang of how to hit the balls properly and accurately. A whole hour passed by really quickly for us. This is definitely a fun place to check out and play some pool with friends. I also saw some foosball tables in the corner. Their bathrooms are individual stalls with the doors having no bottoms. The lightning was too dim for me and the floor was a bit sticky but at least it was clean. Sinks were outside the stalls with hand dryers on the walls. read more

Has potential but bad execution. Our friends and I heard about this place and decided to give it a try on a Thursday night. I reached out to them by phone and the lady was nice and helpful. Even though she wasn't working at the time, she directed one of her colleagues to help us. We signed up for their waitlist when we arrived. The place still smelled of dry wall and even with AC it was stuffy for a basement of this size. There's a sign in front that says you cannot bring in any food or drink, including water. There are 4 pool tables and 2 ping pong tables in the main area. Three out of six of us signed up for the waitlist to play in 3 pairs. There were 3 people in front of us on the list and it was estimated at a 45 minute wait. When we refreshed the wait page and saw that it was one of our turns, we started walking back to the venue. By the time we walked back (less than 5 minutes), two of our slots were given away. Two of us had to sign up again. The first pair of our friends got their table and started playing. The rest of us sat down and waited. Thirty minutes later, we saw another table open. When we opened the waitlist to look, we saw that the two of our names disappeared entirely from the list. When we went to the desk to let the guy know, he gave us that one table and said for the other person to sign up AGAIN (3rd time) and that they would get the next table. The second pair of us that got the table started playing. We felt bad for our last pair of friends who were waiting for about an hour for a table because of Sugar Mouse's system error so we let them take one or two turns. It wasn't even 5 minutes later when the next table became available. At that moment our last two friends went to claim the table because the system said it was ready. That same man who told them not to worry and that the next table would be theirs, changed his mind and told them that they couldn't get the table because they were "already playing" and told them "only the first hour is free". There were several empty pool tables and no one else waiting at that point. If the system was working and there was someone contacting people when their table was ready, we would've all started at the same time and played for several hours. The whole experience was disappointing. Maybe an okay place to take shelter if it's raining and you're nearby with nothing better to do. Between the pettiness of that man and the fact that there are bigger, more comfortable billiards places in the city with better food and drink options, we probably won't be coming back. read more

I was a customer in this establishment last night I'm currently writing this because me and my friend were attacked by the security on the behalf of the manager tom escalating a very simple interaction. Me and my friend were unaware that a section in the bar was closed off as we were previously sitting there with no issue. As we were sitting tom approached us with a very aggressive body language and yelled at us asking if we have badges and we need to leave that area immediately I expressed I was unaware it was closed and got up to go he proceeded to communicate very aggressively and yelling to leave I asked him to please not yell and that I'm leaving there's no need to make a scene he proceeded to verbally attack us and got very hostile to the point he went and got security and told them to remove us from the establishment completely we had an open tab and we're trying to close out and retrieve our credit card before leaving and the security attacked us while doing so trying to drag us out after we had already verbally expressed we would leave read more

I come here about 2x a month. There is always a unique event or speaking series or poke fest you can check out. There are a number of table games and a bunch of projectors for content, so even without a specific event there's a lot to do, for a lot of different audiences.
