I unfortunately only had one night to party while I was in Dallas, but my oh me oh man, I am glad it was at this place. Let's move past a great beer selection, cool signature cocktails, the arcade games and excess hoopla, I didn't even get a chance to enjoy any of that. So why 5 stars? One word, service. I've had southern hospitality, but this was on a whole nother level! The owner hooked up our large group with a table outside right next to all the dancing. The servers took care of all our drink orders and drunk party members. And the rest of the crowd was so chill and willing to party down with us, that I dare say it... had a perfect night there. Let's just put it out there that I FINALLY came here for the first time last week even though this place has been here since my high school days 15+ years ago. I was pretty underwhelmed. Ok, totally. CRESTFALLEN, if you will. My fault? No doubt. I guess I just expected more selection? Wanted something slightly bigger? I know, don't we all. It had gotten built up in my head over the years (and no, I was not expecting Dave and Busters, just a bigger 80s fix)! I'm sure it's quite a pain to maintain what they do have, especially considering how people treat things! :/ I will say, go during the week! We did actually end up having a really good time. My screwdrivers were cheap and stout and Ms. PacMan knows how to show me a good time. I hit a couple other games and it was an overall blast because of the drinks and company. They seem to have a pretty killer patio, so I think the cheaper weeknights really make this place. Or if you have nostalgia for the place itself. I've been to Barcadia a few times. While I generally like the place, the service and quality of food has been mixed. Sometimes the female bartenders (one of which I heard actually owned the bar and a few others in the area) are not very nice. This really confused me because wouldn't one of the biggest aims of any bar or restaurant would be customer service. I have had a few different food items including the chili, chicken fingers, and quesadillas. They taste good, but sometimes my stomach doesn't agree with me later that night. Bitter sweet... Of course, the biggest novelty is all the games they have! One time I got a bunch of free plays on Mortal Kombat and I don't think it was free game night! Then again, maybe it was and I didn't even know =P. The giant Jenga and Connect Four are classics that are always fun (even if the Connect Four discs get stuck behind each other sometimes... it adds to the fun!). read more

I guess I pictured it a lot differently without having been there. I pictured more of an arcade, more centered around video game, games in general. That's not the overall feel I got though. It's pretty open with probably cement flooring, real basic. Tables and chairs all around and video games, arcade style, lined on two walls, TV screens every which way, even outside. I personally went for the Rangers game but often found myself watching the others playing games...they were entertaining in themselves which how excited and angry and just all out into they would get. I didn't play any games myself but think it's a cute catch to the place. Ordered an appetizer to share, the chicken tenders and fried. It's pretty much all bar food so sharing was the option so that I didn't eat too much fried, bar food. I hadn't had chicken tenders in about 20 years and this isn't how i remember leaving them behind or I would probably still eat them daily. Everything was so fresh and they have a ton of dipping sauces to choose from. We chose queso and sriracha ketchup, both awesome. Beauty Bar was where I really wanted to go - I think this was across the street from Barcadia - but wasn't sure my male friend would be comfy going there, so we went to Barcadia instead. I slipped on my hipster glasses (I don't need glasses), he had on his pink unicorn shirt, & we fit right in. I think there were some vintage arcade games like Atari stuff..Donkey Kong, Galaga & Pacman - games my dad, grandma & I enjoyed in the 80's. Can't remember what day it was, but it was a busy night in July, lots of people at Barcadia. While the arcade seemed exciting, we weren't in the mood to play, so we settled for a seat out on the patio, where we watched a group of people play jenga. It was nice & humid out there, I enjoyed my cosmo & remember noticing that the women at the bar were made up & really pretty. The bar didn't turn out to be as 'hipster' as I thought it would be. I didn't remember guys with beards/hats &/or ironic shirts...or girls with facial piercings, hipster glasses, white tank tops & tattoos covering most of their upper body. I think the place is great for groups that wanna have fun playing games with friends while buzzed/hammered. That can get funny. read more

This place was really fun and not too packed for a Saturday night. Most of the games were in working order, except Q-bert was not working and Street Fighter 2 was a little rough. Plenty of beer on tap and booze to choose from. The only downside is the crowd is a little young and fratty, for lack of a better term, but the plus there is that most weren't playing the games so there were not a lot of lines. The other problem was that the glass I got was dirty so that was pretty gross. And at some games, there is no place to rest your drink. The valets were also rude. So I took off a star for those things. If you get the chance, go to Barcade in Brroklyn. It's a little bigger with more games and a more relaxed vibe. read more

We've done a couple nights out and a couple b-days at this place. The outdoor Jenga is pretty much the best part... The bar itself gets rather crowded so getting to the bar is kinda inconvenient and finding a place to sit or stand on busy nights is virtually impossible. The beer selection is good. The decor is pretty average, nothing special. The seating inside is strange as all get out. It's just really long tables (like a middle school cafeteria). Kind of a dive, but interesting at the same time. I didn't think the life size Jenga was anything special. Also, having the patio closed in during the winter with people smoking made it a disgusting experience. The drinks were good, lots of different types of people there too. 20's to mid thirties mostly. The parking is HORRENDOUS. I shouldn't have to valet park for a bar like this. Luckily I found street parking but it's not in a great area that I would not suggest parking too far away as a woman by yourself. Otherwise, its cool that it has arcade games. To be precise, I probably would give Barcadia between a 3 star and 4 star rating. I like the place a lot, as far as the bar scene is concerned. The video games are almost priceless, and the bar makes it easy for you to get quarters from the bartenders (you can get quarters off your credit card tab) to geek away to your hearts content. And the beer selection is solid as well. Real beer drinkers will be pleased with what is available. Food: I also went to Barcadia for brunch. I had the omlettes with sausage, which was OK, but nothing to write home about. I heard some of the other items on the menu are very good, including the spicy chicken tacos, and the mini-cheeseburgers. Service is so-so, have to ask for more water, a little slow, not as attentive as one would probably like. I'm chalking that up to the point that it is a bar, and not a restaurant. That being said, the food probably hits the right spot when you're at Barcadia at midnight on a Saturday night, and you get the munchies. To summarize: a great place to drink after work or late at night. A great place to play video games from the early 80s. An average place to eat (service-wise) read more

The doorman is an asshole (the tall skinny white guy with the brown mop hair, kiddie rapper mustache and tattoo sleeves).When we walked up, he was standing there arms crossed engaged in conversation, then gets all shitty with us asking for our ID's. As if we had any clue he worked there. Hell, we thought he was a homeless guy looking for change. The waitress was very knowledgeable about all the beers and specials and drinks and so on. But by the end of the night, since she was the only waitress service sucked. Not because she was bad but because she was it . She was busting her ass, props to the waitress. So you could wait at your table or wait at the bar, your choice. The food was ok. There were several of us so we had a pretty random sampling of everything. It was ok at best. I would go to a real restaurant and meet here for the $4 you call its. Now, I know I'm not in my 20's anymore and I know I'm at a bar, but holy freakin crap!!!! Once DJ Jazzy Jeff showed up and turned the music so loud up you had to scream at the people next to you. It was stupid loud. The patio everyone talks about about being huge and fantastic.... Last night the weather was perfect and it was a fun place to hang out and play jenga and have some drinks... but it was just a patio with some picnic tables, again.. it's just a bar. I like this place but of course, I am the nearly exctinct type of nerd who still knows how to play Donkey Kong Jr... for an about an hour... on one quarter... Drunk. So an easy 4 stars from OG gamer. Anyway, yes, this is a bar with about a dozen coin op video games, usually in fairly good condition (inebriated frat boys banging on them all the time would be tough to maintain), a good selection of beer and a nice patio. After many years of being a successful bar, today Barcadia was a massive disappointment! Upon arrival, the bar tenders were dismissive and rude. The majority of the arcades didn't work. To top it off, there was a mandatory 20% tip on all bar charges. I can gladly say that we will not be returning to Barcadia and we hope that It will close. I hate to be a hater but I have to drop the info. Barcadia is okay overall, simple and straight forth. Maybe it was my idea of what Barcadia was going to be like, or a hope that perhaps I was jumping into an old school arcade that serves beer, but I was incredibly disappointed. First off, parking is absolute crap to the 'nth degree. There is little parking at the building itself, and the neighborhoods around have no parking signs. Even better, take a couple of turns and you're right smack in public housing which is probably not the safest place to leave your car. I did park at the Flower Market place down the street, but later on in the night a friend I met up with mentioned that occasionally, after close, they tow away cars. I also noted a few signs around saying that they do indeed tow, so be wary. As the bar goes, prices were very good. I have a pint of Blue Moon and a few shots, only $6 which is no complaint by any standard. The alcohol and the prices aren't my gripes. Why they call this place "Barcadia" is a mystery to me. There are maybe a handful of old, dilapidated machines that line a wall, and look like they've had far better years. I'm all for nostalgia, but when the CRT monitors are so haggard that they're hard to see even in the dark, then there is something wrong. Plus, they seemed to be more window dressing than anything, as I saw no one play a single machine. The skee-ball did get a little love, though. The patio is pretty decent in size, and that seems to be where more people congregate, but the Jenga was nothing super special. A part of the patio was taken up by film crew filming one of those crappy 'blind date' pseudo-reality TV shows as well, which brought a little 'pre-manufactured fun' essence to the group. Clientele was a mix of everything as other Yelpers mentioned, a few hipsters, a few yuppies, and a few college kids. It almost had a 'divey' feel but it was lacking the soul I usually get in real 'dive' establishments. Main gripe the entire night, though, was the music. Does it really need to be that loud? It was incredibly hard to hear anything, even the bar tenders... and for what reason? Sure, people like music, but at that level, I don't understand the purpose. If parking was a bit better, I was consider this place again, but I just don't see it as a spot I'll hit up on my own motivation. read more

I've been here a lot in the last year. My friends love this place, and I guess I like it. First - the arcade part is mostly a gimmick, you will almost never see anyone play anything but skeeball and giant jenga, but I suppose the option is there (if they are indeed functional. I don't know). There is usually a pretty good pathway along them even when it's packed, so you could play... However the gimmick tends to attract a different type of crowd, so it does serve a purpose. You don't get a ton of frat boys or douches. My only complaint with the crowd is that most people seem to come in a large group, and they stay with their group. I like to talk to strangers, but I often feel like I'm interrupting here if I try. The inside is pretty uninspired, its just a big room with games along two walls, a bar on one side, and a few tables and a restroom on the fourth wall. Concrete floors, and picnic tables fill the center. Nothing to write home about, unless you trip on your way outside as I always do (How's that for a segue?) The patio is pretty incredible. It is large and has a ton of picnic tables, and jenga (I think connect four also?) I like it, but I never feel like I had an adventure when I go here - I just sat there and talked a little. I don't think I've ever seen a waiter or waitress... I was surprised to see people mention them in reviews. read more

Well, this will be my first Yelp review. Hit up Barcadia a couple weeks ago with a friend of mine who was visiting from Houston. We're both old-school video game nuts and kids at heart (who just happen to like "adult beverages"), so I figured this place would do the trick. I will admit, I didn't try the food, but it did look delicious. The staff is great. My friend broke the connect four game (Yes! They have connect four on the patio!), kid you not. The bartender took the whole thing in stride. Other than that? Probably one of the most laid back and affordable bars I've been to. The machines are only 25 cents per play, and they have a ton. Two of them were out of order, but it didn't kill the mood. Also, it's worth mentioning that they have 2x4 Jenga on the patio as well. Music's not too loud (shut up, I know I'm getting old), and even the patrons seemed happy and genuine. Not your usual hipster crowd for something like this (It's an arcade bar. They're trendy) Excellent beer and liquor selection to get your drink on, and honestly? My new favorite bar. Well played, Barcadia, well played. read more

Can't speak for peak hours, but we visited in the early evening on a Sunday and found the staff and customers relaxed and friendly. Loved the atmosphere and the games. The loaded cheese fries were delicious, and the drinks were great. I closed my tab with multiple drinks for a handful of people plus food for under $50. I had a great time. I'm taking the advice of the other posters here and preserving my Barcadia enjoyment by not going on a Friday or Saturday night. I hate Kung Fu's uptown crowd, so no, thanks. read more
