Frozen margarita with bacon wrapped shrimp in the background

I really want to like this place--it's a great neighborhood spot to hang out, whether with friends or solo. The drinks are solid, but the food consistently misses for me, and the service was very slow this visit. I sat on the patio and it wasn't busy, but my appetizer still took over 30 minutes. I ordered the bacon-wrapped shrimp, and somehow it was both over- and undercooked. It came with a side that seemed like a slaw, but it was flat--no seasoning, no real flavor. Service didn't help the experience. I had to get up a couple of times to get assistance, and no one checked in--I definitely would've ordered another margarita if they had. I like the vibe, but they need to tighten up the food and service.

I was introduced to Las Palmas at the food and Wine festival at the Arboretum recently and I knew that I had to visit the actual restaurant. I came here with my dad on a Sunday morning for brunch. We didn't order very many things unfortunately but we did try the Elote and flautas. I enjoyed the flautas, but the Elote was giving more of like a corn salad than actual Elote. I wasn't a really big fan and it was served with crackers which I found kind of odd. Chips and salsa were solid. Service was solid. Would definitely go back to try more items, just not a fan of the elote. The restaurant seems to have a really cute vibe, but I did think it was a little bit too dark especially for morning time. I could understand a darker lighting situation in the evening absolutely though. The patio space also looks super cute.

Came here before going to work. Me and my coworker were trying out various restaurants in Dallas and this place had a high rating so decided to try it out. There was a long wait line but we told the server we can eat at the bar and got seated immediately which was nice. Otherwise, we wouldn't had made it to work on time. I got the Akausghi wagyu fajitas full size ($51). After I got the food, full size means double the portion on everything like meat, rice, beans, etc. I thought it would be double the meat only. I gave the rice, beans, flour tortilla, to the lady who sat next to me. Food was very delicious! Also got complimentary chips and salsa and it was super good as well! Coworker said it was okay, he's mexican descent so he prefers mexican food and not Tex-Mex. interior and exterior is very lively and the restaurant is very dark inside. The parking is street parking which is free. But we had to park down the street.

My go-to spot if I can get a reservation. This place is always so popular, and for good reason. I went with my girlfriend on a Thursday evening and we were sat quickly after arriving. The goose in the garden drink is our favorite, however not on the menu any more. Isai and Kenia were helping us out all night and they were amazing! Accommodating, prompt, and great personalities! We love to leave friends with our servers, and it isn't hard to do with a staff such as that. Chips and salsa are always fresh, flavorful, and the perfect amount of spicy. We also had the chicken flautas, and they hit the spot! The Mexican candy shots are the best I've had. We can't wait for our next visit!

The tacos were decent, but not worth the super long wait in my opinion. Very salty. The rice and beans were also just okay. I think my favorite part was actually the chips and salsa - solid. The restaurant had great ambiance and the staff were definitely doing their best to tend to the large parties as well as the smaller ones. I walked here from a nearby hotel, so I can't speak for the parking/valet, but it was definitely very busy. This place seems like it would be good for a more upscale group gathering, but the super long wait time on a Thursday night (1hr 25 min for two people) and just okay dishes would lead me to a more casual restaurant for my taco/Mexican food fix.

Five full stars. Everything was perfect!!! The food, the attentiveness of the staff, the vibes! I loved this spot sooo much I am planning my visit back less than a week later. We got queso added picadillo, my husband got a plate that had like 7 things on it and he loved every single bite. I just got happy hour crunchy tacos because I ate almost the whole queso myself and they were sooooo good and flavorful. Everything came out and nice and warm too. Even the salsa is delicious. Cannot wait to come back for a relleno!!!

Went twice in one weekend! The first time was a busy Friday night. We weren't able to get a resy but found standing room near the bar and enjoyed the fun vibe and great margaritas! Sunday for lunch we were able to eat at the bar. To start, the chips and salsa was great! Both the green and red salsas were so fresh. We also tried the habanero salsa which had great taste and a good kick! Got the elotes which was tasty. For main we split the Wagyu fajitas. The corn tortillas were better IMO compared to flour but the meat was tender and had great flavor. Overall loved it and would go back!

    Shrimp fajitas

SO GOOD OMG. Literally best salsa I've ever had. Food was amazing and fresh. The flavors were some of the best I've ever had. I will be craving this for a long time. I recommend the shrimp fajitas. The bone marrow butter was delicious and came with it. Now I'm a baby when it comes to spice and the queso was spicinnn but the flavor was incredible!!! Honestly I am dreaming for the day we go back. The inside of the restaurant was warm and cozy and honestly such a unique vibe. The service was amazing. 10/10

Love the area and the atmosphere. The nachos were a winner. I ordered a vodka drink and it tasted like tequila. I addressed it with the bartender and she said they mix their vodka with a lot of different ingredients and showed me the bottle. The vodka mix was brown because of everything added to it. I sent it back and got a daiquiri. Wasn't a fan of the vodka or the Smokey flavor in the salsa. Everything else was great and I'll definitely go back to try other dishes

This evening I had two guys that work in my building come and help me put together my patio set that I bought from Wayfair, which I will leave that for another review. These guys worked really hard because everything came in a ton of pieces. Everything had to be put together. It was very labor-intensive so in addition to giving them cash I really had to get them some dinner I ordered from Las Palmas, a place I have eaten at before and loved it. Well tonight they did not disappoint. I had the fish taco plate which was so flavorful. I can't even begin to describe it. One of the guys had the shrimp taco plate and the other one had the chicken fajitas. Everything was amazing. It arrived nice and hot and delicious. It came with a big bag of chips and guacamole, and all the condiments it was a win-win.

The free chips are nothing special, but the salsas are nice. The guacamole is fresh and a good appetizer if you're not looking for anything insane to start. The wagyu fajitas with bone marrow butter are a show stopper. Tender beef cooked perfectly medium rare with a flavorful butter. The tortillas are fresh and the accompanying toppings are standard, but the beef is the star of the show here. The service was good and the restaurant has a really fun vibe. 4.3/5 would come back

    Sopapila cheesecake. YOU MUST TRY
    Jade W.

We came in on a busy night. Silly us, we did not have a reservation. The host said it would be about 45 minutes to and hour wait. They ended up having an opening within about 15 minutes which was great. The server was very helpful and kind. Even in a busy restaurant he took great care of us. The restaurant was pretty dark and bustling. The food was AMAZING. If I had to recommend one thing it has to be the sopapilla cheesecake. I'm a big dessert person, so I know sweets. This might have been one of the best desserts I've ever had. I didn't want it to end. I cant wait to make it back here.

Tried Las Palmas for the first time this past Sunday. I'm on a circuit of "must try before I bring a guest here" weekend bookings. Since I'm new in town, I don't want to slip up when I have guests and take them somewhere no bueno. I've been checking places out on my own, since I'm here by myself (: I have a handful of fav Mexican spots back home in LA. I wasn't sure how the TX Mexican scene would hold up but I'm not super hard to please (other than I actually am extremely hard to please)... make a solid marg, have some type of vibe, and a plate that hits the spot and I'm solid. Las Palmas was great! I'd totally bring a guest. I loved the two salsa option. Your girl loves options!! Hit me with the roja y verde! I ordered the brisket taco meal although this is very "outside" my box of a pretty standard enchilada order around these parts but they were tasty! Back home my go to was usually a flautas appetizer and saw this on the menu but wanted to check these highly acclaimed brisket tacos out. They did not disappoint. Loved the decor of the place. Could make for a fun spicy little date spot, if you've got that going for you. Service was excellent. I'll surely return again soon. May even f around and order a frozen.

We hung out comfortably and had a couple of drinks before heading out. The food is amazing!! Obviously every dish is meat based here and it's cooked to perfection. Seasoned deliciously and very tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty. We also ordered Chicharrónes and guac. I'll admit I was very skeptical about The Chicharrónes because they're either cooked right or they're not. They got it down here. Everything was cooked exceptionally well and delicious. 10/10 recommend. Food and drinks are great!

Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
