Patatas Bravas, Empanadas, garlic shrimp, short rib
Rachel B.

Amazing service and high quality ingredients but just found the flavor wasn't all there. Only tried out a bunch of tapas for a good mix which were nice bite sized plates so can't speak for the the larger dishes. It was still a good meal with a very cute patio but I don't think we would go back for the price.

Great wine selection. We asked our waiter for recommendations and everything we ordered was delicious. It's quite pricey if I'm being honest, especially the appetizers. The paella was worth it. I think two smaller plates would be enough for 5-8 people to share. We ordered two big plates and had a ton of leftovers.

Had such a fun time at Barcelona w/ my friends. Ambiance on the patio was amazing, service is great, and the food was very creative! Loved the flavors, and tapas are a great way to try a lot of different things. Overall such a great experience & cannot wait to come back, another great GV spot!

YE Gurl Says: A Lucky Find During Barcelona's Independent Restaurant Week Place:Barcelona (Independent Restaurant Week Find) Date: March 2026 Sometimes the best meals are the ones you didn't plan. A casual drop-in while exploring Barcelona turned into a full experience thanks to Independent Restaurant Weeks--and not just a few days... weeks. Now that's how you support your local restaurant scene. We happened upon a spot participating in the $45 prix-fixe menu, and without hesitation, we were in. Since we lean pescatarian/vegetarian, we navigated the menu accordingly--and honestly, the options held their own. First Course Options Included: * Gazpacho (chilled tomato, cucumber, olive oil) * Ensalada César with aged manchego and guajillo crouton * Sopa de Ajo (garlic soup with jamón, egg, saffron) Second Course Highlights: * Paella de Barcelona (classic mix with seafood and meats) * Paella Roja (beetroot sofrito, beans, cauliflower, fenugreek yogurt) * Salmon with leeks, olive tapenade, asparagus, mushrooms, crème fraîche * Chuleta (pork chop with a full composed plate) Dessert Options: * Tres Leches de Fresa (strawberry three milks cake) * Johnson's seasonal sorbet or ice cream * Plato de Quesos with figs, lavender honey, and rosemary crostini We opted for the pescatarian and veggie-friendly selections, and the standout for me was the Paella Roja--a creative, earthy twist that didn't feel like a compromise. Balanced, flavorful, and thoughtful. The structure of the meal was clean, no substitutions (respect), and paced in a way that let you actually enjoy each course without feeling rushed. YE Gurl says: Stumbling into Restaurant Week while traveling is a win every time--but Barcelona doing it for multiple weeks? Even better. It's a reminder that some of the best culinary experiences happen when you stay open, go local, and let the city surprise you.

I honestly don't understand the hype surrounding Barcelona. While the space is beautiful, the food was mediocre at best. We started with the bread, which was served cold with cold marinara--hardly the warm, soft start you'd expect. We moved on to the shrimp, papas bravas, and cauliflower au gratin, and none of it hit the mark. The shrimp was fine but didn't justify the price or the small portion. Both the potatoes and the cauliflower were incredibly bland; I had to drench the potatoes in salt, and the cauliflower sauce felt like a plain cream sauce lacking any real spice or depth. Maybe it was just an off night, but for the price point and reputation, I expected much more flavor.

Immediately after being greeted I knew I had made the right choice in making a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday celebration. The staff made us feel right at home and were very attentive. Our server, Sammy was very sweet and fun! My favorite touch was their pre-printed birthday menus. They definitely know how to make someone feel special. We ordered a bottle for the table to pair with our tapas. We tried the churassco, wine braised chorizo, and ordered a paella de marisco. The tapas portions are enough to have as a meal or 2 to be really stuffed. The paella portions are huge and are enough to serve about 2-3 people. I was pleasantly surprised how good the paella turned out since moving from Miami I have been very skeptical of any Latin or seafood in Columbus (sorry...) but the flavors were delicious!! They also gave us a free dessert for my boyfriend's birthday and it was also sooo delicious. I would definitely return, especially after finding out about their happy hour. It's a great little spot for a date or a celebration of any kind but make sure to let them know ahead of time so they can make your night special.

If you're looking for great food, drinks and the perfect summer patio, you need to check out Barcelona! Their newly remodeled patio has all the vibes and you'll want to hang out there all night with a glass of sangria or wine! The service is excellent & professional, & the entire ambience of the place truly makes you feel like you're in Spain All of the tapas are great for sharing; the steak & shrimp were both so delicious! The Paella is a must! All of the different variations look and sound phenomenal, and the carne paella was incredible - go give them a try!

Barcelona's interior is beautiful and so is its patio. For a lunch date, we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful environment. The lunch menu has sandwiches w/sides that aren't available on the dinner menu, and we got two winners. The Sub de Costilla was excellent, and the Bocata was pretty good, too. We wanted to try the patatas bravas, so it was a pleasant sight to see them as a selectable side for our "Emparedados" (as the sandwiches were labeled on the menu). They had an interesting take on a Tres Leches cake, too. The cake wasn't as drenched as some other versions, but the core flavor was there. Finally, our server was great. The entire experience was great.

Made a reservation to come by for dinner one evening. The drinks were good. I had window seat. Not that strong and not too sweet. Perfect! We shared the verde paella, filete de hierro plane, and the roasted vegetables. Portion sizes seem kinda small ish. Food seemed high quality but I wasn't impressed. Decent. Not the most flavorful. The paella was unique though. It was vegetarian and the beans added a nice texture to it. Staff was nice. He explained the menu and what was popular. My friend comes here all the time and told us to get the empanadas for next time. Really nice setting. It was a bit cold, otherwise it would've been nice to be out in the patio. Seems like a great place for wine. We mostly had cocktails but wine would pair really well with the dishes. We found parking almost a block down. Easy to find parallel spots around here.

Empanadas, Coliflor Gratinado (Cauliflower), Camarones al Ajillo (Shrimp), Costillas (Short Rib)

I sat at the bar at Barcelona, and the bartenders were the best part of the experience. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional. I also had the best dirty martini I've ever had there. We ordered several tapas, including the Jamon y Queso, Empanadas, Coliflor Gratinado (which the bartender recommended), Camarones al Ajillo, and the Costillas. The cheese plate was good but I hate bread that breaks your teeth. The empanadas were very bready, crispy buttery delicious bread. But not much depth. The sauce was very good. The cheesy cauliflower was the standout and the only dish we finished completely. The shrimp was fresh but simple. The braised short rib was rich and flavorful, but heavy and I didn't find myself reaching back for more. Overall, the food was good but didn't stand out enough to bring me back for the same meal. The bar experience and service were excellent, and I've heard the patio is especially nice, which I'd consider trying in the future.

The most wonderful experience for our anniversary. Ethan was awesome. Super professional and friendly and thank you for the champagne! It has been years since we've been here and we were reminded after this visit we need to come back more often.

My first time here and what an amazing place! They have happy hour at the bar only. And since it was a Friday rest assured there were no seats to be found. Hint: come early The service was good. No complaints at all. They are certainly doing something right since they have been here for a long long time. I am putting Barcelona on my places to return list. Outstanding food and decor.

vieras
Michael G.

Amazing as usual. You want top end Spanish cuisine, this is it! Scallops Vieras has to be one of the top dishes in Columbus. I like that it's been on the menu for 25 years. 5* food and menu selection, service, environment, wine list. Any city would be proud to have a restaurant of this quality, and we have it here in Columbus.

Happy Hour at the bartop Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00-6:00pm. $6 drinks including housemade sangria, wine, draft beer, liquor and craft cocktails. Discounted hot and cold tapas from the kitchen as well.

What is in the dipping oil that they bring out with bread? It's tomato something and possibly the best thing I've ever had in my life!!!!! I seriously need to know what it is!!

Our server, Jakov, was outstanding. He was professional, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. I ordered the filet, which was cooked perfectly and was one of the better steaks I've had in Columbus. My fiancée ordered the salmon and really enjoyed it as well. We also shared the Caesar salad, enjoyed a couple of espresso martinis, and finished with the Post Mortem brownie sundae. However, we were left disappointed, sad, and surprised by our experience. My food came out first. This would not have been a problem if not for the series of events that followed. Many minutes later, her food came out too, yet it was the wrong dish. Shrimp pasta instead of steak. We waited again. Eventually we were told by our server in a very unserious, almost joking voice, "I saw a filet in the kitchen, so it should be out soon." Her steak came out about 15 minutes after she had already gotten the wrong dish, while mine had gotten cold. Our server told us that the kitchen accidentally put Demi glaze on the steak, which my girlfriend had requested to be left off. Instead of apologizing for this mistake, Our server emphasized, "Don't worry, I had them sear [the glaze] off." Hearing that surprised me, her steak was over-charred, like the sauce had literally been burned off. Disappointing remedy to a simple mistake, and what a strange way of putting it by our server. What made all of this even worse was the way in which our server Kendall handled this matter. Her attitude got significantly worse following this mishap. She was extremely unapologetic, not offering any apology to either of us. Mind you, I had patiently waited well over 15 minutes with cold fish in front of me for my girlfriend's blackened steak to come out. When my girlfriend had a chance to taste her food, Kendall dropped by to say, "I think we have the best mashed potatoes in the city, what do you think of them?" Blatantly blowing off the fact that my girlfriend's steak was obviously screwed up, and my food had sat for over 15 minutes at the table before hers arrived. As my girlfriend was nearing the end of her food, Kendall stopped by again to add that "We're powering through it." What an odd thing to say to someone who's eating what was clearly a subpar, unsatisfactory plate of food, especially with Kendall being very aware that it was my girlfriend's birthday! I've never in my life been treated in such a passive-aggressive, unapologetic way by a server. Neither of us are one to complain or be rude in a restaurant, both of us having worked in restaurants for years. I'll add that the food on its own would have been fantastic, but the delays had caused it to be cold, and her steak was blackened. I was genuinely left speechless by the way we were treated by Kendall. I also believe that any attempt at a remedy from Kendall could have salvaged this dinner, but her attitude and targeted, passive-aggressive apathy made it so much worse. I'm disappointed leaving this review on what should have been a wonderful dinner a beautiful patio.

We also shared the shrimp ceviche. Good flavor but strange texture with the toasted nuts. The food seems like it's fusion as my friend and I both got chilaquiles but the chips were already broken apart and mixed with the meat. Still tasty but not what we expected. My other friend got the patacon, which basically looked like a salad. Far from the usual plantain fritters with toppings. Only one of my table mates ordered something that sounded like what was expected, the Ecuadorian churrasco: sirloin, eggs, fries, rice, and salad. For dessert, we got the flan and tres leches cake. There was a hair on the cake and they quickly gave us a new slice. Good but the flan could've been better. The cake was good though. Nothing was too sweet which was perfect. Overall the food was good but not as authentic as we had hoped. The service was also a bit slow. It was a slower evening but it took a while to get our drinks. Our server was really nice though. We ordered his recommendations. I'm not too familiar with parking around here but there were parallel spots in front. I parked in the garage at the back. Around $6 for two hours.

From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone for what would become an unforgettable dining experience. Wine & Cocktails: A Study in Balance and Craft The wine selection was superb -- thoughtfully curated, expressive, and perfectly paired with the richness of the evening's dishes. The cocktails were equally impressive, crafted with precision and a clear respect for balance. Each sip felt intentional, layered, and celebratory. The Paella: A Showstopper But the true star of the night was the paella -- a dish so masterfully executed it deserves its own ovation. The rice was tender yet structured, infused with deep saffron warmth and kissed with just enough socarrat to make any purist smile. The seafood was impeccably fresh, each component cooked to its ideal texture. It was the kind of paella that silences a table, not out of politeness, but out of reverence. When the chef personally came out to greet us, it only reinforced what the dish had already made clear: this is a kitchen led by someone who cooks with both technique and heart. When I told the server at one point that I've never seen a martini in a cordial glass before, she informed me with some attitude, "It's still three ounces." In hindsight, the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty on a weekend night should have been a warning sign. We were seated immediately, and there were very few diners there the entire time. Maybe we ordered poorly, but nearly every dish missed. We started with the wood-fired clams, hiramasa crudo, and two orders of the pasta caramelle. The menu looked creative and promising, so expectations were high. The complimentary amuse-bouche was a stale crouton with strawberry on it. Not exactly a strong opening. The crudo arrived next, and the fish was cut extremely thick, to the point where the texture became unpleasant. The ponzu was barely noticeable, and despite the generous portion, we ended up mostly picking at it. The clams were better, but overwhelmingly salty. Not "aggressively seasoned" salty, something is seriously wrong with this broth salty. We kept waiting for someone to check in and ask how things were, especially after leaving most of multiple dishes unfinished, but nobody ever did. The server only returned to drop the check. The pasta caramelle was the most disappointing part for me because it seemed like the safest bet to recover the meal. Instead, it was a fairly small portion and just very average. I've eaten at excellent restaurants all over the world, from casual spots to Michelin-starred dining, and this felt like a restaurant trying very hard to appear elevated without delivering the fundamentals. The seasoning was off, the execution was off, and the service never caught these flaws. The final bill was around $130, and we were still hungry enough afterward that we ended up getting pizza later that night at Late Night Slice. Honestly, I wish we had just gone there from the beginning. Really disappointing experience overall.

I'd go back in a heartbeat just to try more of the menu. We were there for about 2-3 hours, and at no point did we feel rushed or like we were inconveniencing the staff. The entire experience felt thoughtful, welcoming, and just really special. Highly recommend The Sycamore for your next date night or girls' dinner!

After a few more visits to the Sycamore I'm giving it another star. I love the cozy, warm ambiance…read moreof the restaurant. The drink menu is great and I appreciate the rotating list of seasonal entrees.
