This was easily the worst meal I've ordered in a long time.. first time visiting, and while the location was nice and seemed promising, the food was overall not great. Their menu isn't that extensive for starters but sometimes with a more focused or curated menu, the food is pretty great from my past experiences. I opted for their steak. That particular menu item was available until 10 pm and I placed my order about 10mins before. My date got their shrimp tacos (not photoed). My steak came back out in about 7 minutes.. Red flag #1 -- my plate was practically cold and the food didn't really look appealing but I still decided to give it a try. I literally gagged when I took my first bite of steak. It tasted dry and like it wasn't just prepared. It tasted and looked as if it'd been sitting out for while.. I decided to taste the potato's underneath and the sauce it's coated with wasn't that great to me either. All in all I decided not to force it down and kindly sent it back.. my dates shrimp in his tacos appeared undercooked and not that appealing either. He says it wasn't bad however. Went here for dinner with a very large group of friends (12 of us). Our waitress was amazing, always checking in on us, refilling our water, and even split all the checks for us without us asking. The food was also delicious. I wasn't in the mood for tacos, so I ordered guac and the duck confit quesadillas. The chips were nice and crunchy, and the guac had a good balance of lemon/lime in it. The quesadillas were good as well, but I would recommend sharing them, because it is very dense, oily and heavy. Would come back again, but probably not for trying to catch up with friends; it's so loud in there and impossible to hear-- just your typical bar. read more

Been here a handful of times for events/group gatherings. I give them full credit for a beautiful venue but finding parking near here is pretty much futile. I love their cocktail menu and the cucumber crush is to die for. Food is alright but this is more a place for drinks and hanging out with friends! So,this is a great place right on the water from in Fells Point, Baltimore. Perfect for Large groups of friends to hang out. Much of the menu is based on sharing. Although I did not have the tacos, they looked Delish. They were very busy the Sat I was there and you could tell the bar was short cutting on the drinks. I ordered 2 Mojitos. The first was perfect and nicely muddled as should be however the second just had some mint thrown in top....... That was a disappointment considering Monitor are a menu staple here. Came here for Sunday brunch, and I love the location especially if you sit outdoors by the water on a not so humid sunny day. Ordered a few dishes to try out on their brunch menu such as the Hash Brown "Tacos", Maple Sausage Pancake Sliders, and Crab Guacamole. The good: The Hash Brown "Tacos" were delicious! I really enjoyed that the taco shell was made of hash browns, topped with cheddar scrambled eggs, hollandaise, and pico de gallo. The hash brown shell was crunchy and cooked really well, and hollandaise sauce was savory, and it went really well together. Definitely worth trying out, and wish they gave more than 2 tacos. Crab Guacamole was delicious, but wish it had a little more crab and guacamole to go with the rest of the dish. The bad: The Maple Sausage Pancake Sliders tasted good, except the sausage tasted really weird. It had an odd texture and was expecting something like a pork sausage, but it tasted as if it weren't real meat. Texture was dry and not satisfying at all. Another major negative was the service. In the beginning, the sever was available, but then she disappeared and couldn't get my water refilled or get our checks. Overall, I would come here when the weather is nice to sit outside for the view, but hopefully they can provide better service. read more

I came here for the first time over St. Patty's Day weekend. The restaurant is really beautiful, right on the water. I can only imagine what it would look like in the Summer and how busy it gets. Thankfully, it wasn't too crazy because there was a bar crawl going on in Baltimore. Our waitress had a little bit of an attitude when we first sat down because she thought we would ask to move like other customers did. She soon realized that we we had no intentions in moving and adjusted her attitude-- no big deal. I get the frustration. I got the carne asada y huevos as my entree. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare. My steak came out bleeding. No exaggeration. I asked to get it fixed and they did, but the food just wasn't it. I had at most two bites and packed it to go. I did notice that three tables were only there to drink. I don't know if it was due to the "green mimosas" or the food not being good, but if I ever return, I am going to sit at the bar to drink and order a salad. This was one of my Winter Restaurant Week stops. Of all the places I went for the week, this place had the worst service by far! I mean seriously bad. I made a reservation (as I always do) and we made it to the restaurant early. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. Our waitress seemed nice. She asked if we wanted drinks; we did not, so she gave us time to review the menu. When she returned we hadn't decided so I asked her to give us a minute. That was a mistake! The waitress meandered around the restaurant for a while (still only one other party in the whole space and they had a different waitress) before helping to set up for what looked like an office happy hour. She set silverware, glasses, straws, and napkins all while we waited. Twenty minutes later she returned and asked if we were ready to order. I ordered off the restaurant week menu, my bf did not. I got carnitas, he got a shrimp quesadilla. The food was brought out by a runner. The carnitas was so delicious there are hardly words to describe the dish, only sounds; ooohh, ahhh, mmmm. Our waitress didn't come by to check on us until we had finished the course. By this time the private party guests were arriving; there ended up being about 30 or so. I have not ever worked in a restaurant let alone operated one but it seems like common sense not to put a waitress who has a party of 30 with anyone else. Even the most experienced waitress would have a hard time being attentive to that many people at once. By the time our second course came out we hadn't seen the waitress in ages. Again a runner brought out the food. My bf wasn't happy with is entree (cheeseburger tacos) and we waited for the waitress to come by. I had finished half my meal, while my bf sat hungry, before she finally emerged. He expressed his displeasure and she asked if he wanted something else but failed to bring a menu over (that was the last time we saw her). A few minutes later a guy comes over introducing himself as the manager of customer service or something like that. He wasn't helpful just as the waitress hadn't been. My bf didn't want to try his luck with anything else, so we waited for my final course. After dessert we waited for the check, and waited, and waited. nearing the end of our time on the parking meter, my bf actually had to go find someone to pay our bill, smh. I was a disaster. I wanted to like this place and the food is pretty good, but this type of service is unacceptable. read more

I have visited this place twice, the first time I was very impressed with the service, Gabe our server was attentive and helpful, food was good and drinks were great, including coffee. For my birthday, I thought it would be a good idea to go for brunch with my sibling, I called the restaurant to make a reservation for 22 people, and they were not very accommodating or even nice about it, I blame myself for insisting, I should have known better Anyhow, I called 3 days in a row trying to convince them to please seat us all together, if at 2 o'clock restaurants are not crowded! Nope, the hostess gave me an email address to request special accommodations, that's crazy, no let me say it again, THAT IS CRAZY, I AM BEGIN THIS PLACE To TAKE MY OVER $1000 BUSINESS My niece called one last time and she was able to seat us together. Once I got there, there were 3 hostesses in front and they gave us a really bad attitude up to the point that I went out to calm down, ON MY BIRTHDAY!! We got only one server, no busboy to help her, the poor soul was not able to take the drinks and food orders, so everyone got their food and drinks at different times, it was awful, I felt bad for my guess and for the server, never again read more

Barcocina is a Baltimore favorite. I truly love the cheeseburger tacos (thanks to a friend that recommended them). I consider myself a lover of sangria and their white sangria is VERY REFRESHING. Being on the water during the summer and enjoying the sangria was a highlight. The staff is typically pretty cool. I recently dined at Barcocina for the 2nd time. In my opinion I think that people go here for the ambience and drinks more so than the food. I had the Mango Habanero Shrimp Tacos and all I can say is that I was very disappointed. The shrimp tasted like it was not fresh and the mango-habanero sauce was the consistency of baby food. We also had the Warm Elotes Skillet as an appetizer. My hubby ordered the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito and our friend ordered the Avocado Toast. I've been here for multiple group events, and it is definitely one of my favorites. This past occasion, my group had a side room reserved with food and open bar. The room overlooks the water and has a covered veranda attached to it. The hamburger and chicken tacos were delicious! They came out on 3 huge pans at a time, but it looks like even that couldn't keep up with a hungry group. The tacos were juicy and the chicken one had a little bit of a spicy kick to it. I came here with friends for brunch. I got the built your own margarita. It had a nice little kick; nice and sweet but not too strong. I also got the Ancho Cinnamon French Toast. It's basically french toast with Bananas Foster. The rum sauce is to die for. French toast was very good. The bacon was excellent. They have unlimited mimosas. My friends got the Crab Salsa. It was different, wish it had a little more crab meat. I don't normally like avocados but the salsa was very good. I will definitely come here again. My husband and my's anniversary fell on a Wednesday, and we were looking for a spot that offered brunch and bottomless mimosas. After searching and searching, I found this place. I'm so glad I did!! I usually look at the menu of a place before I go to make it easier to decide what I want when I get there. Well, when we got there, the menu we scanned was slightly different than what I saw online. I decided to go with the brisket tacos (which I learned had been added two days earlier), and my husband ordered the pulled pork tacos. His tacos were loaded with meat, and he said the pineapple salsa was the perfect complement. The brisket was delicious! It was sliced thin and really tender. We ordered the salsa roja. It was tasty, fresh, and had just the right amount of kick. I liked that the chips were more crispy, than the typical chip. It definitely helped with scooping the salsa! I can't forget about the mimosas. They truly were bottomless. Our awesome waiter made sure that he came around to keep filing our cups. He said "I'll make sure you don't make it halfway." Lol. The tables are a little too close together for me so it was a little cramped, but the service was fabulous and wait staff wears masks. We were never low on drinks. The taco salad tasted good but was a little lacking in substance. More like an appetizer. The guac was superb, and the breakfast quesadilla was delicious. I would order those two again. Even came here for brunch with my entire family and everyone was blown away. The only downside is that it is kind of pretentious (same owners of Bond Street if you are familiar). Not that it is a bad thing, but it is just a fancier place that gets away with overcharging for things. For example, a margarita will set you back $11! And the "cheapest" cocktail on the menu is $10. That being said, you can only get happy hour at the bar... not including the bar tables around the bar which I think is BS. I went for happy hour on a Friday and the bar was so mobbed it was impossible to get a drink, we did have a bar table, but why is it $4 more if I order with my waitress?... Barcocina was just OK. My family and I went over this past weekend when the weather was nice and we wanted to sit outside along the water. This place has ample outdoor seating which was awesome. First, thank you to the waiter who immediately warned us upon sitting down that food service was a little backed up so we wouldn't get antsy waiting for our food. I think the most disappointing thing was, being the one in the family who picked the place based on a few specific menu items I really wanted, I was told upon ordering both my drink and my meal that both were out of stock and unavailable. That was very disappointing. The food was just ok. Salsa was plain, no spice or anything. Chips were almost stale with no salt. Tacos were just ok. And same with the enchiladas. Overall, this is getting three stars because the service was good and being able to sit outside was great. The food left a lot to be desired and I'm not sure we will be back again. read more

She tried to take a drink order while my girlfriend was in the bathroom (maybe 2 mins after we sat down). Then tried to take all our food orders at once. I told her that we're gonna need a few minutes to look over the menu and she came back 3 x maybe each a minute later. We were out of there in 35 minutes despite my efforts.
