The smaller places have people that are friendlier and more knowledgeable than the big box stores. They let us bring our dog in there when we're doing errands and walking around downtown. There was one Valentine's Day celebration when the downtown merchants were giving out prizes to the kids, and Boyne City Hardware gave our dog a nicely wrapped mini-baggie of dog biscuits.
