We were seated promptly and handed the menus, which are quite extensive, so it took us a while to decide what to order. Our waitress was incredibly kind and patient, taking the time to explain the different options and answer our questions.We ordered the hummus plate and two different varieties of chicken skewers, along with a couple of cocktails. Loving this new location! We were informed that happy hour will begin next week, woo! It is so large with the biggest distillery and even a shop to take items home. The newest location seems to be doing an excellent job so far with a different menu from the Eagle location. Located just off of Chinden in the same parking lot as the Riverside hotel. This restaurant is right up against the main street. Not as exciting as if it was closer to the river but the upside is there seems to be ample parking. Once inside the ambience is open and airy. They have a giant patio and an equal size indoor dining room with an average size bar. The square footage is not as large as I expected. We arrived with a party of seven and no reservation on Tuesday at 5:30. It happened to be the same night as two graduations and this timeframe seemed to be right in the middle of the 4pm and 7:30pm grads. The reason why I said that is because not having a reservation could've really been a problem had we not walked in at just the right time. Fortunately, we had a very creative and quick thinking hostess. She explained that she had a table for seven with a reservation at 6:30. If we thought we would be done by then, she could sit us at the table. It was perfect. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient and the food was prepared in a very timely manner. We were easily able to finish up and pay our bill prior to the 6:30 reservation behind us. Now onto the food review... We ordered : -Lobster mac & cheese- this is a $32 dish and it was my least favorite at the table. It appeared to be canned lobster mixed into a Velveeta type cheese sauce over pasta with bacon bits. It did not present an elevated taste of a $32 macaroni dish, and the lobster was blah. Nevertheless, we all sampled it until it was gone because my daughter wasn't quite into it. - fish tacos- these were the most delicious of all the things that we ordered. Rave reviews. - Wagyu bites with tzatziki - these were fabulous, but the Taziki was just meh. -Maple marinated Chicken- yummy but not enough food for a meal, just a snack -Hummus plate - variety of hummus, feta cheese and olives with a generous portion of pita, this was very tasty and a great appetizer plate to share - Fish and chips- fried deliciousness with a yummy tartar sauce -Garden salad - Elevated and tasty Overall we really enjoyed the food. A lot of it was perfectly designed for sharing. We each ordered our favorite thing and then passed it around to share . We asked for small plates so we could each just sample different things . It really worked out well for an early light dinner. The only dish that was a complete miss was the mac & cheese with the canned lobster mixed in for $32. It was a Complete waste of money. Wouldn't call the risotto Parmesan risotto when the only flavor you can taste is the jar of oregano they used in it. The flavors kind of all meld and make it somewhat one dimensional. Wouldn't order again. The lamb burger is lamb and beef blend. They should make that clearly advertised as many people don't eat beef if they're choosing lamb. We tried this new location and we were so happy with everything. We went on 5 on Sunday and were seated immediately. I started with a huckleberry lemon drop which was so good! We got the honey chipotle salmon, fish and chips and Tuscan fettuccini alfredo with shrimp. For dessert we got the banana cheesecake and the skillet brownie with ice cream and salted caramel sauce. Another great addition to Garden City! Food: 4/5. We tried a few mixed drinks including the huckleberry lemon drop which was just ok and the espresso martini which was delicious! For starters we had the bbq wings which were absolutely amazing! The perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I had the puttanesca and thought it was pretty good. A nice variety of flavors. I added the chicken which I think I would skip next time. My husband got the short rib which was outstanding! The risotto on the side melted in my mouth and was so creamy and delicious. We opted for the vanilla bean cheesecake which had the perfect drizzle of caramel and was delightful. Service: 4/5. Our waitresses were great and very helpful, however we did have to wait a while for everything. We probably waited for about 10-15 minutes after we were done eating dessert to finally get our check. Atmosphere: 4/5. Parking is not ideal as there are only a few spots for the actual restaurant and the rest is shared with the hotel so parking can be an issue. This restaurant is very small compared to the other locations and we had to wait sit outside on a windy day due to it being crowded (which is surprisingly for 4pm on a Thursday). Having the option to sit outside is nice... but your view is of Chinden and the Riverside hotel parking lot. read more

The service was quick and it was a very quiet evening there. We sat on the outside patio which allows dogs! There is a posted sign on the front door with all the rules to be followed if you are bringing your dog. There are also heaters that they turned on after sunset when it was getting a bit chilly! The heaters work great and were very helpful since I forgot a jacket! I ordered the shrimp tacos from the staff's suggestion and they were fantastic! The shrimp is crispy and the slaw has great flavor! Not spicy but a little tangy and a very reasonable price. I'm excited to see that Bardenay opened up their Garden City location. I appreciate that so many of these new restaurants are opening up in Garden City. No need to drive downtown or to Eagle to hit up Bardenay now. We have our own just around the corner from us! Walking in, I was instantly greeted. I told one of the servers that we were expecting 7 to 8 people and they got a couple tables pushed together for us. We were nicely tucked in the back. Laura greeted the two of us and got some drinks started for us. I was exciting and got a Shirley temple. My aunt got a prickly part margarita and it looked fabulous! Laura was really patient with our party. Several of the girls were late showing up but she checked up on us and made sure our drinks weren't dry. After everyone did show up, she got us all squared away with dinner orders. For dinner I ordered the Honey Chipotle glazed salmon with 2 sides of the green beans instead of the potatoes. The salmon was grilled part! I enjoyed the beautiful char marks on the salmon. It was also flaky and moist. The glaze had the right amount of heat to it! The green beans were super fresh! I do wish that they were cooked a little longer. They were a little too al dente for me. This new venue is a great place for cocktails and a good meal. The venue, although it's new and shiny, it is quite congested. The venue isn't that big and when it gets busy it's packed. I know once the patio opens it will eliminate some of the congestion but until then, you'll be sitting back to back with other guests. If you're looking for more of a romantic dinner, I would suggest the other two locations. A casual date night option would be this Garden City location. Have been several times to the new Bardenay location and it's always consistent with the food and friendly service. I enjoy getting the poke bowl because it's quite healthy and always fresh. We also enjoyed the sea bass, but the risotto could use a little work. We enjoy that the patio is dog friendly (for our very chill pup). We've enjoyed the atmosphere and service since Bardenay opened in Garden City. But we have noticed the quality of food has lessened since its opening. Yesterday, sadly, was a low point. The service was very slow, with only 2 servers in our main area, in a very full Saturday noontime restaurant. I ordered the classic breakfast. The potatoes were heavily salted, the ketchup tasted bitter and almost rancid, and, worst of all, the eggs were served cold. The toast was okay but only one very small slice was served, when usually I expect two slices for a full breakfast. The eggs must have languished on the serving line awaiting the potatoes and toast for at least 5-10 minutes. They sat, unsettled, in my stomach for a long time, and I had a bitter taste in my mouth from the eggs and/or the ketchup. The server brought hot eggs after I told her of the circumstances, but by then I had eaten. We won't be motivated to go back for a very long time. read more

We came to Bardenay Distilling to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our kids, and it was the perfect choice. I had actually been here a week earlier for a work meeting and was really impressed by the food and overall vibe--so I knew I had to come back. We sat outside on the gorgeous patio. The meal did not disappoint. I had the salmon (perfectly cooked), my wife had the sea bass (sweet & delicious), our son enjoyed the lobster mac & cheese (rich and flavorful), and our daughter went classic with a hamburger (no complaints there either). Every single dish was excellent. My wife and I also tried a couple of cocktails--You're Turning Violet, Violet and Basil Instinct--and they were out of this world. Bardenay clearly knows what they're doing behind the bar as well. Highly recommend this place for families, date nights, or just a casual night out. The grease had soaked completely through the bottom bun. I ate part of it and was sorry later that I did. This was our second time at this location and love the Eagle location. However, we will not go back to this new location after tonight. Our family with young children sat outside in the patio. Food was ok, but they allowed two large dogs to be in the area of tables that are enclosed on the patio and quite close. These two dogs...one was a large Great Dane type dog started to fight and bite each other causing quite the scene. The dogs came very close to our table with kids who were frightened and ruined a nice night for us. The lady who owned the dog could not hold the dog back from attacking the other dog. Ugly scene. A gentleman at the table next to us went inside during the dog fight and told the bartender to get the dogs out of there and he was told to chill out or something to that extent in a rude fashion. He was appalled at the response. I also asked a nearby staff member to remove the dogs to which she said she couldn't do anything about it. I am a dog person and have a couple dogs. So this is not coming from someone who hates dogs. But this large aggressive dog who had a muzzle on should not have been allowed in the enclosed patio. Furthermore, after the incident the manager never once checked with us or nearby tables and offered any apology for the scene these other guests and their aggressive dogs caused. I promise this was not a good situation and these people and dogs should have been removed much quicker. Shame on Bardenay for not acting quicker and even allowing this to happen. But I understand at times things occur out of your control. But the lack of checking in on the other tables and even scolding one is beyond absurd and terrible customer service. As for me and my family we will not go back to this location. Please be aware and maybe look elsewhere for a nice relaxing dinner out. At the prices we pay these days...common decency is the least we should expect. read more

Just had a pretty bad experience here. My work colleagues and I came for happy hour. We arrived just before 3 PM and were asked to leave at 6:25 PM because there was "a reservation coming in at 7." The drinks were over syruped and under liquored, but we really wanted this local spot to be our regular spot so we were continuing to order food and drinks in hopes that things would improve. Unfortunately, they asked us to leave. Let me be clear.... We spent over $250 during the time we were there. They asked us if we could leave while our drinks were not finished. We were not rude or loud. I would say this place isn't worth it (and I'm a generally a huge Bardenay fan). The patio looks out onto a parking lot and their service priorities are all wrong. Yesterday was my second visit to this new restaurant in Garden City. The first was for dinner with friends. Everyone was very happy with their entrees including the spicy shrimp bowl, fish and chips, lamb burger and salmon. The fish and chips were my favorite. The sweet potato fries that came with the burger were also a nice option. The second visit was for a late lunch with our group of five ordering an assortment of satay, sandwiches and burgers. The turkey avocado was huge with a generous portion of turkey. We all ordered cocktails. The silver coin margarita was excellent as were the old fashioned and huckleberry lemon drop. We had wine at dinner and while the wine we selected was ok, I recommend cocktails over wine at this location. We had a reservation for dinner and were glad we did as they were very busy on a weekday at 6. For lunch we walked in around 2 and snagged the last open table. Service was excellent both times. I was quite surprised that the dinner didn't come with any bread so my friend and I asked the waitress for some bread. She brought out two small pieces of toasted bread(one piece for each of us), like that served for bruschetta. When we go our bill, we were charged $1.50 each for a small piece of bread! Went to the new Bardenay distilling co. on Monday, glad we had reservations. It was busy for a Monday, but that can be expected with a new restaurant. We had the wings for an appetizer, they were delicious. My wife had the tenderloin and I had the fish and chips. Everything was fantastic. Our server was appropriately attentive and did a good job answering any questions that we had about the menu. I waited to write a review because my first visit wasn't great so we gave it another try. Here is what we experienced. First visit - sat outside for brunch - nice atmosphere, friendly waitress. We were a party of 6. Half of our orders were very good however cold- and the other half just very meh. Drinks were great. We thought maybe just the timing was off in the kitchen - reason for our cold food. 2 weeks later gave another try. The main hostess was not pleasant at all greeting our party of 4 with no smile & a robotic "do you have reservations ?!" We did and were seated - many others turned away - no smiles given. It seemed as though they called "Karen" to come in to help out & said just get here & wear whatever - she really looked & acted out of place for the nice restaurant. We had our same waitress as before & she wasn't as pleasant this time either - greeted us with a "hey we're slammed today so service might be slow-just a heads up" we looked around and saw 5 empty tables that remained empty for at least an hour! While others were turned away. This time our food was hot however again half the group food was good, other half - meh. Drinks were great. Service was meh. All in all, I want to really like this spot. I'm willing to give another try as maybe 3rd times a charm? I just think management needs to work out some kinks still.
