Fiona and her staff at Lay Bare are amazing. When I first called to make an appointment at Lay Bare no one picked up so I left a message and within the hour Fiona called me back. Already prompt and excellent customer service. Then the day of my appointment I hit heavy traffic on my way to Lay Bare. When I called to let them know, they said "no problem we will wait for you". I ended up getting to there 30 minutes late and they still greeted me with a smile. I did not have to wait, which I would have expected because I was 30 minutes late. I went in to get a Brazilian and my eyebrows done, they did an excellent job. They Brazilian was the best I have had so far. The sugar wax they use is the best, because with a regular HOT wax your skin is slightly burned and inflamed, whereas with their sugar wax you don't have to worry about being burned or your skin being too inflamed. I have sensitive skin and usually after a regular Brazilian wax my skin is red, inflamed and I am in pain for hours. Ladies, lets be real... we all dream of being "bare down there" but the thought of the pain from the wax and someone who you JUST met being all up in your private lady parts are enough to make you say "Oh, I prefer the natural look." Those were my thoughts EXACTLY until my dear friend convinced me to do it. I did my research about "sugar waxing" and I liked the idea there wasn't going be HOT wax next to my lady parts. Still unsure about someone paying close attention and basically examining 'down there' for about 15min though and possibly judging me. But I left all my doubts at the door when we walked into Lay Bare. I got Ana and let me tell you something; it must have been FATE that she was "the one." She is so sweet, makes you feel SUPER comfortable, and funny as hell. I'm not going to lie, it DID hurt but she was quick! She had me laughing while I was almost crying because of waxing. I love this place! Sugaring is way better than waxing, so for those of you who haven't tried it yet I definitely recommend that you do. You won't be disappointed. I always see Ana and she is fantastic. Very friendly and polite and does an amazing job. The price is reasonable which is another reason I've been returning so often. I was at the mercy of my end of the week schedule, and the only time I could make it was late on a Friday. I was assigned to Carla, who I had never seen before, but she was AMAZING. Not only was she accommodating as I was about ten minutes late, but she was also funny, personable, and incredibly skilled at what she does. And I don't want to understate that. I will never go back. They used to have girls that knew what they were doing but Omg the last two times I've been there, ive been in the most pain. I do t even remember her name and it's nothing against her personally, she's just pretty new is what she told me. The first time I had her, I knew I didn't want to see her the following time. So when I called to schedule an appointment I told the front desk to give me someone who's experienced!! Hey said "ya sure so and so is" my fault for not remembering her name. So when I get there, it's HER again! I'm like oh man, this is going to suck but I will give her the benefit of the doubt. Bad choice on my part. She went to wax my bikini and the wax didn't come all the way off, the hair was all balled up in the wax that was DRYING up! I was miserable and honestly pretty upset. It took SEVERAL rips for my hair to come out, I was bleeding. I hate bashing people and their skills but because of this experience... I'll never go back. I found a way better place and a girl who knows what she is doing! Again, this place used to have a girl that was amazing at what she did but she left. Good luck to you who venture in here.... I hope you don't have anything close to what I experienced. My experience was a while ago, I just never took the time to write the review until I saw an email from your company. My cousin had been pushing me to finally do some sugar waxing. (mind you I've never waxed before) she said it wasn't that bad and i wouldn't want to shave ever again. So i finally decided to book my appointment. She recommended i go with Sherly, luckily she had time in the morning. When i went inside she explained to me it would hurt a little just because it was my first time but she was very sweet and kept me calm. I will admit it did hurt,,,, (mind you my tolerance for pain is weak) She kept me calm and at ease even when i kept moving around when she removed the sugar wax. I felt so horrible because i was being such a baby but she was so nice. Talking to me throughout the whole session and just trying to keep me distracted. It is inexpensive, which is great. However they only do Sugaring, which in my opinion is a lot more painful and takes longer than waxing. (Which is not the salon's fault). The first time I went I had Liz and she was very nice and good. The second time I had someone not as friendly, but still pretty good. You can also hear everyone in the salon and so it's kind of awkward. Overall it's a good place to go. But the atmosphere didn't convince me to switch from waxing. read more

I'm so glad I decided to do this. I had a discount through the fitforbucks app. I'd been wanting to try the sugar wax because I heard it was less painful than the normal waxing. I was still a little bit painful, but overall it was was definitely less painful and it was bearable. My appointment was with Jenny. She was absolutely amazing! She was very sweet and personable. I was so nervous to do this and she immediately put me as ease through the process. She explained everything as she did it. We also had a great conversation about life. She told me how she got into this job and how she feels it's her calling. She also helped me feel empowered for doing this. I decided to do this just for me, but I didn't know if that was weird since I'm not in a relationship or anything. First timer to the Brazilian wax club and I have got to say ... Thank you baby Jesus. Not only was I smooth for an eternity but it grew back so much softer. Veronica was the young lady that helped me and she was great. Very gentle but also comforting in making the whole experience tolerable (having someone look at my cookie while looking not so pleasant). I am definitely coming back not only because my pocket wasn't hurt but also because she was just great. Why not the five stars? Danielle was awesome - this was my first real Brazilian wax. I was scared out of my mind - but she was super nice and talked to me the whole time. Honestly this is best and ONLY great wax experience I've ever had!! I used to always get waxed but I moved far from my normal wax girl and was hesitant to try anyone else. Being PREGNANT I was in need of a wax since it became hard to see "down there". Lay Bare is all around a great place for waxing. The staff are super friendly, and Elan is especially awesome! She takes her time and makes sure that I'm comfortable during my waxing. Lay Bare uses only sugar wax, which I find to be much less painful than the old school hot beeswax. I've also gotten my eyebrows threaded here, which is very quick, easy, and cheap! Lay Bare also provides validation for the valet garage downstairs, so parking is painless. Wow... love this place. I got my very first sugaring from Carla, unfortunately this was her last day but she taught me a lot about this type of waxing. This was definitely one of the less painful waxes I've had and when I left I wasn't super red or enflamed so I definitely believe sugar wax is way more gentler than hard wax. Also I love how this place is affordable, it makes me want to come and wax so much more than other pricey spots. First time going to a new esthetician at this location. I wanted a Brazilian and asked for her to take everything off. Unfortunately there were many place in my Brazilian area left untouched. It was rather bizarre, nonetheless, this particular esthetician was very attentive and helpful. $40 for a wax is the best price in the city. Had such a great experience here this evening with Jazmin (I believe this is how she spells her name). This was my second time at Lay Bare (I purchased the 2 for $50 special for new customers). My first experience was so-so. I didn't have Jazmin and I don't remember the name of the woman who helped me. I had only waxed once before so the experience was pretty painful for me. The results were well worth it though and the healing process was easy. I did have some random hair strands left over. However, my second experience tonight really sold me on doing sugaring regularly at Lay Bare. Jazmin was so friendly and I was so impressed with her attention to detail. Obviously a Brazilian is an uncomfortable experience if you've never done it, but she made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. The second time didn't hurt nearly as bad as the first. Some areas hurt more than others, and Jazmin would stop and give me a second to breathe if it was getting to be too much. Overall, it's a great place. The interior is cute and modern. Love the pricing! I prefer sugaring over waxing any day. They do a great job. This particular salon takes a lot longer than other sugaring places I have gone to, however the pain is a lot less as they do smaller sections. So if you're looking for quick this is not the place, but a great option if you are not in any rush. The first girl I went to could of done a more thorough job on my brazilian, felt like I wasn't fully "groomed". Sherly, the second time I went did a super thorough job and I was really happy. Our first time there! Paula was great. She made me feel comfortable and help distract me from the paon! I would love to have her do our waxing again! This place uses a sugar wax that I have heard about...it's all organic and for the most part wasn't as painful, only in certain areas, but again if you don't go often and hair gets to long it will always hurt more, so I am excited to see her for the follow up in 4 to 6 weeks! :-) read more

I went back and the owner gave me a complimentary service because of my last experience. It was back to fantastic service. Professional, nice and quick. Always a little pain but that's impossible to avoid. I think they do a great job. I usually go to anyone but based on my last experience, I may be a little more picky. I have been coming here for 3 yrs love that they use the sugar wax. I used to go every 6wks constantly at there old location in the mall on Topanga since it was closer to me and there was one girl I really liked that was good but she's not with the company anymore. When they closed I went to their Studio City location a few times and I tried a couple of the girls there and they where good but my girl was awesome. And plus the distance for me was a little too far. I haven't been able to find another place that does sugar waxing. So I decided to make an appointment today with Liz. She was awesome! She took her time made sure I was ok my entire visit and the best part she was very thorough, gentle and took her time. I think I found my new tech. Long over-due review. I came here in July and my wac was SO painful. I wax monthly and have never experienced pain this bad. I came home and saw that my tech had removed a tiny bit of skin-leaving it bleeding. She also left a bit of hair when I paid for a Brazilian (full hair removal) I had to fight the urge to not come back and show how pissed I really was.
