So nice b/c I usually wince when the wax is too hot and it makes everything red - Josie like others have said is excellent. Very professional and good at her job. Yes. This place. I may be temporarily jobless, but waxing is one thing I just can't forgo. I hate to cut corners, but I found this place on Groupon, and after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance, and HOLY WAXBALLS! This place is awesome! At $15 for a Brazilian (w/Groupon), it seemed almost too good to be true. Even the $30 regular price is the cheapest I have seen. And let me tell you, I walked out of there with THE BEST wax job I have ever had! The sugaring really, really does work better for my skin. It's been 5 days and I have experienced zero irritation, unlike both hard wax and strips (both of which I have done many times). Ana was really the best. She was pleasant and fun to chat with. And talk about thorough! I did not have a single stray hair anywhere, and I mean ah-nee-where! The place seems nice and clean, and the rooms are private (not like the open ceiling cubicles some places have). I've been a to a number of different places for waxing, and I've never had the experience that I got here. A friend of mine got me a gift certificate for my birthday, and she swore by their service and sugar wax, so I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is super friendly, and the environment is clean and always looks well put together (which is very important for a waxing salon). It can be daunting to get waxed, but Ana made sure that I was comfortable, and when I told her it was my first time trying a sugar wax, she took her time explaining how it's more helpful and beneficial than regular waxing. And now, I'm a fan. I loved the whole experience so much (something I've NEVER said about a waxing session), that I pre-paid for six more sessions before I left. I was really nervous walking in here, first time ever got wax by someone else other than myself!! The lady name Ruth made it so much easier for me!! She was so nice, made me feel so comfortable and relax!! My experience here is beyond phenomenal!!! Let me start out by saying...i hate getting brazilians but i love the outcome. Like other reviewers have said, keep in mind this is the most painful form of waxing, however, I find recovery is quicker with better results and less skin lifting. Instead of being red for 24 hrs, the inflammation goes down minutes or hours (at most) afterwards. Sugar waxing is also the way i choose to go because it is the most sanitary. No double dipping, you get your own wax which is thrown out at the end. Everything is VERY clean at LB, they sanitize things well, which helps you to relax more. Josie is amazing. She's so kind and wonderful and very thorough. I will continue to come back to LB for Josie! :) read more

Brought in my male friend to get his eyebrows threaded for the first time! Upon entering the facility we were greeted by the lady at the front desk, we signed in no problem and she took in my friend right away. While being threaded, the lady chatted with my friend the whole time to make the experience somewhat more bearable. With it being his first time it was not as painful as he expected. She was gentle and only broke her string once. (i once had an angry indian lady do my eyebrows and she broke the string several times! T_T) The waiting room isn't so bad either, they offer you water while you wait, and have a good selection of magazines to keep you occupied. Overall a good experience. I'm a fan! :) read more

Let's face it - waxing is never fun. It's painful, expensive, hard to get an appointment, etc. But Lay Bare Waxing Salon is one of the better places I've gone to and I do plan on coming back. So the good: - Great decor. It's very friendly and open and inviting - Staff is friendly - Prices are amazing - It's very sanitary - They do a good job of getting every last hair The not-as-good: - They use sugar wax. Can you say "OUCH"? It's probably a personal preference, but I'm not a big fan of sugar wax. Having done honey wax and regular waxing before, they are painful but fast (I'm usually in and out in 10 minutes). But with sugar wax, you get a small ball of wax that can only spread so far, so the waxing process takes a lot longer. And when on the waxing table, an extra 10 minutes feels like FOREVER - I got stuck in traffic on my way over (hello Ventura Blvd) and I called them to keep them updated on my estimated arrival time. I was only 10 minutes late for my appointment and they didn't have anyone after me so they took me in, but the receptionist mentioned before I went in the room AND right as I was leaving the salon that I "shouldn't do that anymore and next time I need to be on time". I get that it's a pain when people are late, but mentioning it twice when they had no one there and when I called left a really bad taste in my mouth. However prices are great, Josie was funny and very warm and they did a great job at the actual waxing. read more

Okay, I have been waxing for a while and although I am a huge advocate of sugar wax, women should keep in mind that it is the most painful of the waxing options. But hey, they won't pull off skin like with hot wax! Luckily for me I have the wonderful Josie to talk/laugh me through my waxing experience. Josie is experienced, diligent, and has a wild personality! Which I can't get enough of. I come here to get waxed once a month, and since I have started, my hair has decreased in thickness substantially. If anyone knows waxing, it's Josie. She has been consistently amazing (which I can't say about the other estheticians there). If you want a good, clean, and affordable wax, Lay Bare is it. Josie also makes sure to get rid of pesky ingrown hairs, and gives you all the information you need to maintain a good brazilian wax. I used to go here on a regular basis to have my sugar wax done. Although I felt as though it was more painful than regular bikini waxing I decided to go continue since it didn't give my skin the irritation that hot wax did. This place was great at first. They have a very clean and peaceful setting. I was disappointed that they wouldn't let me use a Groupon that I purchased because it was only for first time customers, which I did not notice was in the "fine print". Besides that, my appointments that were made a month ahead would always be cancelled or rescheduled last minute. I already knew as soon as I saw the number on my phone the afternoon before my appt that they were calling to reschedule for whatever reason. My review is includes the quality staff member, Shirley, in which I had two separate appointments with her. I am not a new to sugaring especially in the bikini area. Initially, I preferred hard wax due to the quick and painless (as it can be) nature of the procedure. Both of my experiences, Shirley made sure her hands were clean and that I was comfortable. Both times were the least painful Brazilians I have ever been serviced as well as sugaring my buttocks (which always stings--but not with Shirley). She is very experienced, quick, and ensures quality service and results. I recommend her wholeheartedly. This was my first place to try waxing and it was a great experience. I was very lucky to get Elan Berg as my beautician and she was very friendly. I like her because she is very thorough and made me feel comfortable and making sure I was okay through out the process. The wax they use is cold honey wax and I like that since there is no fear of double dipping. And gloves are used for cleanliness. And the pricing for this place is decent. I like that I can make reservations online and they tell you if there is a special pricing. I definitely would recommend this place to any one who is looking for a good waxing salon. I am a bit wary if the place is cleaned out after each person since there are times when it is back to back customers. I hope they do switch out the towels and not only just dust everything off. Hi, So this was my first time ever getting a wax, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was painful!! However Sam the one who did the waxing for me was GREAT! she made me feel completely comfortable the entire time, talking to me to avoid focusing on the pain and letting me know what she's doing the whole time. I got waxed by Elan who was very sweet and quick! Parking - self park in 30 min zone which is free up to 30 min and flat $2 if you go over OR valet. they validate for parking underneath up to 90 mins - so go ahead and valet your car. the 90 min valet option is better than the 30 min parking since you're going to pay $2 (or more depending on how much you like to tip) Might as well take your time. 1 star off because the girl in the front wasn't direct about the parking situation when I asked. She suggested I look for street parking (which I did) although they offer validation. I found this out after the fact when I asked her if they offer validation in which she replied yes. This place is clean, cute, modern, and the price is right for Brazillians! I bought my Groupon for this place, but when that ran out, I bought a couple of their 6 packs, which they promote twice a year, and saved a lot of money that way. I'm not sure that sugar wax is necessarily less painful than traditional hot wax, but maybe that's because I like that the hot wax opens up my pores and distracts me from the pain of the actual waxing! I have fairly sensitive skin. My first Brazilian sugaring was very painful, I got very irritated and didn't think I'd go back. Second time, less painful as to be expected I think due to the powder Jenny used prior to putting the wax on my skin. This helped me SO much. During my first wax, the wax was getting stuck to my skin causing much more pain and the second time with the powder I felt much less pain and irritation to my skin due to the barrier provided by the powder. Jenny made the process so fast and pleasant for me I was shocked to actually come out of a wax and not only enjoy the process but the results as well!! I've done regular waxes before but very new to sugaring and after this last experience will new doing sugaring with Jenny specifically!!! read more

Brazilian is NOT easy and I would be lying if I told you that it is painless. But the staff here are so friendly and they make you feel super comfortable which sorta ease the pain just a tad bit. I'm about 20minutes away from them but because of the great staff and cleanliness of the place I will take the time to drive out to Studio City.
