Paula is a great technician but she's moving! (Thank God!) because the front desk clerk they just hired is the worst. She's miserable and does intentionally bad things like mess up your appointments and pretend not to be able to do simple tasks like print or send receipts!! Geez louise is she a nightmare! First time getting a wax (of any kind) and I went full force with Lay Bare. We chose them because their prices were great, the reviews were good and the place looked clean. My technician was fast and friendly, she also mentioned the wax they use is sugar wax so it's more like a mold they reshape and reapply and not hot wax strips. Once again, I've never had a wax for comparison sake, but she said this method is easier on the skin. My only complaint was the walls in each room don't go all the way up the way (think studio walls) so you can hear the client in the next room. This wasn't a problem for me, but for some it might be. This was my first time here today and I loved it! I'm always looking for a good place to get my eyebrows done, and I feel like this place is it! Elan was wonderful and it was honestly the best threading experience I had. She really paid attention to what I wanted and I have never been more satisfied! She actually holds a conversation with me and answers all my questions! I will definitely want her again next time I go :) and as for the whole place as a whole? I love how clean and private the work areas area and it's very comfortable. The only thing is make sure you make an appointment! I tried to do a walk in (my mistake ^^) and I was lucky to get a spot in for half an hour after I walked in. I didn't mind the wait since it was my bad, but even without an appointment, they took me in at the time they told me they would! I LOVE this place. I never knew getting waxed could be a pleasant experience until I came here. Setting up an appointment is easy, you can call or go online to their website and schedule yourself. The girls who work on you are extremely nice and comforting. They try to make you laugh and are pretty good at distracting you from "the rip". They're pros and know what they're doing. Before anything gets waxed, they ask if you need anything and if you'd like to use their restroom, and then when you're ready they provide you with some sort of numbing spray. They'll distract and wax, and have you COMPLETELY smooth and bare in no more 15-20min, that's how quick and agile they work, in my opinion. From what I know, the wax this salon uses is also natural and has very few ingredients, that it doesn't rip off a whole layer of skin and leave you having 1st degree burns, like other traditional wax and/ strips do. I also like the deals or packages they offer sometimes, which has saved me a lot, even though they already have VERY affordable prices compared to other sugar (and non-sugar) waxing salons out there. I'm writing an updated review because I would like everyone to know how wonderful this place is. First and foremost, I love how sanitary sugar waxing is. Ladies, you can get a STD from traditional hot wax. Sugar waxing uses your own individual packets unlike hot wax where they simply use a new stick but same wax. Sugar waxing might be more painful to some women but I found it to be a better experience than hot wax. I was lucky enough to meet Josie and she is incredible. I had shaved my bikini a few days before booking an appointment for a Brazilian and knew that the bikini wouldn't look as smooth and hairless because of my own impatience. Josie did her best to clean all the hair but recommended I come back in a week or so when the bikini had grown back so she can clean that up as well. Unfortunately when I came back she wasn't available. Another employee helped me out and I wasn't happy with her work when I did a double check at home. I'm not big on complaining but when my private parts are concerned, I felt like I definitely had to speak up. I called back and Fiona offered to clean up what had been left behind. Luckily, Josie was available for an appointment and what a wonderful employee she is! She cleaned up the left overs and even exfoliated the hair that were growing in the wrong direction. I really appreciate Josie because she genuinely wants to help and make sure you are happy. It's rare to find someone who cares about their job and clients, she is a very kind woman but the whole company itself is great. I have recommended Lay Bare to all of my friends who wax and tell them how wonderful Anna and Josie are. Great job ladies and I will be seeing you soon! read more

The ambiance was lovely and even so, the services wasn't for me. I ended up having a reaction to the portion she waxed and more so, to the part (which was the chin and bottom half of face) which was threaded and ended up breaking out and have dark bumps where I didn't before. I would NOT recommend. To begin the parking was terrible. Not their fault, but something to consider if you're in a hurry. The people were incredibly kind and courteous. I had Maria, who seemed timid but kind. However, the wax itself was patchy at very best. It was a "sugar wax". And it was effective removing the smaller hairs but all the larger, more pressing issues, were left completely untouched and actually were made more visible. Lay Bare is awesome. They have affordable prices, especially compared to other competitors, if you do the research. Plus, the promotions they offer are a no-brainer...as in you need to invest. I was really bummed that the Northridge and Topanga location closed down, so now I'm coming to the Studio City location. Regardless, of the location, I'm still happy with the results. The technique is effective i.e. no pain or ingrown hairs. The hair growth is slower, so you don't shave as frequently as you did in the past. The prices are unbeatable. And finally, if you time your wax appointments right (as in hair not too long, but not super short where it's pointless to go), then your wax really doesn't hurt at all. You guys really need to check this place out, and keep Lay Bare alive. read more

I am so disappointed with their customer services. Tinesha was extremely unsympathetic towards my problem. She talked over me, not giving me a chance to explain myself thoroughly. I spoke with her to try and solve my situation but that led me to more disappointment and frustration. If you want to book an appointment you have to give your card information, HUGE MISTAKE!!!! I had made an appointment on July 12th and I tried several times to call them back to let them know that I wanted to reschedule but no one picked up. I later get a debit card charge from the bank. I then over drafted for insufficient funds. I call them wondering why I got charged for a service that I never did. She said it was a fee for a missed appointment. First of all, they NEVER told me about the missed appointment fee. No email, no text, not even a verbal saying when I first scheduled my appointment. How the hell was I supposed to know their policy if they never said anything about it? Do they automatically expect us to know their guidelines and rules? Her excuse was, I tried calling you the day of. I never got a call. I also, tried calling them for the reschedule. As a result, I not only have to pay for a fee that I knew nothing of but also an overdraft fee.I saw other comments stating how rude the clientele is and it's TRUE, considering I spoke to several. I had a bikini wax done, and the price was very reasonable using a Lifebooker. They use a sugar which isn't hot, so there's no risk of burning sensitive areas. It took a little bit more time, but it was worth it. The service was performed by a knowledgeable person.
