Tonight was my second appointment here, I wanted to wait to review until I'd had a second wax because it'd had been a while since I had waxed and I wasn't sure what my experience would be. At my first appointment I was greeted by the receptionist whose name I don't know, and an esthetician. They we're friendly enough, not spectacular. The receptionist gave me a form and said the esthetician would be right with me. While I was filling out my client information, the esthetician walked in the back, came back and told the receptionist something, then walked to the back again. The receptionist then informed me someone else would be taking care of me. It was extremely off-putting. I'm not sure if the fact that I was using a Groupon made her want not want to take me, or perhaps she just wanted to get off work early that night. But it's awkward enough knowing your going to subject your lady parts to torture at the mercy of a stranger, then have her pass you off onto someone else. But then I got Sam. Sam was great! She was extremely patient and cautious. She explained the sugaring process to me, and made sure to check on me often (I'm such a baby, I don't take pain well). Tonight I had an AMAZING experience. Cory (sorry if I misspelled!) is a new receptionist there, and she is incredibly sweet and friendly. Sam was there again, and she greeted me with a very enthusiastic hello! It was great that she remembered me, and I felt very welcomed and glad to be there. She did an amazing job once again! Extremely patient, extremely nice. I had never had a Brazilian wax of any kind before, and since shaving always leaves me with irritated bumps/knicks and in need of another shave in as little as two or three days, I figured this "sugaring" thing was the way to go. I live nearby this place, so I popped in spontaneously to ask how all of this was supposed to go down, what the sugar is, etc. The folks inside were really friendly and, after checking to see that my lady garden was long enough to be waxed, set me up for an appointment in half an hour. As fate would have it, I got a call from them only a few minutes later to fit me in since the previous appointment cancelled. Woohoo! As for the experience itself, I guess you can't expect it to feel GOOD, but it was bearable. The girl waxing me (Ana, I believe) was hilarious. When I asked her if it would hurt terribly, she smiled and mentioned that my thigh tattoo basically proved that I could handle anything. She was very thorough and sanitary, and it was great having somebody to talk to throughout what could have been a very awkward and uncomfortable process. She even tweezed the stray hairs that were left over- yessss. The pricing was very reasonable, and my dear waxer gave me a coupon for next time, in addition to the owner (I believe) telling me that I could get a discount for checking in on Facebook! (Why not? I have no shame.) The two of them were very helpful in telling me how to care for my little bald rose after getting waxed. I promised to give my honest review and I'm long overdue. I came into Lay Bare for a Brazilian wax a little over a month ago and I'm not really much of a yelper but they talked me into it. The service was great. I live nearby so I was looking for convenience plus an affordable and safe wax. When I went online to book an appointment they only had the option to pay online ahead of time so I called and asked if I could come in and pay cash and they set up the appointment for me. I saw Ruth, very sweet. She's good at her job, she explained to me that this was a different kind of waxing (I'm not going to say it was any more or less painful). They use honey wax. I was in and out in about 15min, maybe less. They told me if I left an honest review I got a first time discount so who can say no to that! I had an appointment for a Brazilian with Danielle and she was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend her for a painless wax. I am usually always early to appointments but on this day was running a little behind. She not once made me feel rushed or as if she needed to rush through my appointment to get to her next. She even took the time to go in and tweeze anything the wax could not grab after the fact. If there are training courses for other employees or new employees I definitely feel she should be the one conducting them. Don't even try. Called yesterday to try one of their packages on their website, was super stoked when I saw they had a huge package for $65. Called to book my appt and was told they no longer do packages so I just booked a full leg wax for 12:15. I then asked how much it would be (it's $35 on the website) but she quoted me $50. I get a call at 12:10 on my appt day and she says my appt was at 12, when it was actually at 12:15. She then tells me we won't have time to do whole leg so she can only do half. I've been here twice for a Brazilian wax. The first time was great. Second time, horrible. I went in a couple days ago and was waxed by.. I believe her name was lily? Something with an "L." Anyways, it was literally the worst wax I have EVER gotten. She didn't pull my skin tight, which made it hurt 10x more, she was very rough, left a ton of hair left over, and just seemed like she wanted me to get in and get out. I left in pain and when I got home, I noticed I was even bleeding. The first time I got waxed, I didn't have any red spots or rashes. But this time, I have a rash on my bikini line and it looks like a lot of hair broke off and stayed at the root. I hate to give this place 2 starts because the first time was so great :( but after the second, I'm not sure if I'll be back. I'm terrified now. read more

I went to the studio and to see Josie because of all of the positive reviews. I must say, I feel slightly deceived. Josie was nice and all, but the sugar wax was the most painful experience I've ever had waxing. The reviews promise no ingrown hairs, and I've had more ingrown hairs than any wax I've had, or even from shaving. My hoo ha felt like it had been burned and instead of the redness and sensitivity going away after a day it went through several days of painful chafing. It's been almost 2 weeks now and I'm dealing with more and more ingrown hairs and uneven growth. I definitely do not recommend sugar wax.
