This review is based on the 2 Brazilians I've gotten here, 4 weeks apart. I haven't stopped raving about sugar waxing since I experienced it for the first time here. NEVER GETTING A REGULAR BRAZILIAN AGAIN. It still blows my mind by how much less painful sugar waxing is. Jazmin is the only tech I've worked with but she is super personable, professional, and I'm always happy with my results. If hair is ever left behind, it's because it was too short (you have to understand that hair has to be a certain length to be removed) not because a spot was carelessly missed. She even offered to tweeze remaining hairs, a detail many overlook/don't care about. The second time I came here a previous customer's service caused mine to be delayed by 30 minutes. Bri at the front desk was super nice and kept me company while I waited and she went out of her way to move things around to accommodate everyone. They even discounted my service for the inconvenience. For the personable service and way better waxing alternative lay bare is def a great value. I highly recommend! read more

I was looking forward to getting a wax here after finding a great deal on Groupon AND all the good reviews, but I'm beyond disappointed in my wax. I've been sugared before, and the technique that my waxer Jazmyn used was much different than what I've seen in the past. She had just come back from lunch and wasn't very personable, and on top of that it seemed like she was rushing. The rapid flicking motion she was using caused more discomfort than usual and I have a high pain tolerance. There was little to no conversation so I'm glad I had my phone to focus on. Needless to say, when I got home and looked at the area thoroughly there were so many hairs left behind it looks like I didn't even get a wax! The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because the validated parking was convenient and the women at the front desk were sweethearts. Other than that, wasn't worth my drive to studio city. Glad I only paid $19 because that's all this wax was worth, if even that. read more

I have been there several times for years and never had a problem before. However, the last time I went it was horrible and painful. The person who did my wax was very rough, the wax was very hot and I had to tell her multiple times that it was too hot for my skin. Each strip she did felt like she was ripping my skin off. In the past I have never had an experience like this. I was highly disappointed and frustrated. To make matters worst I was swollen for 2 days in my lady part areas that was very uncomfortable. Additionally, I was bleeding for 2 days. After this experience in such a special area I may need to love for a different place to go. It seems the business is going through a lot of changes and the staff are not at the same quality in the past. read more

Been going here monthly for at least 14 months consistently and still going strong! I LOVE this place. I think I've been serviced by every tech on staff and I can't rave about them enough. The manager is wonderful! She greets you as you come in, she is understanding and helpful when you have questions - as are all the ladies there! I'm on the monthly Brazilian membership which is SO affordable and easy to schedule. I've never had a less than satisfactory experience here. Trusting someone to handle your lady parts is serious business and over the 12 years I've been getting Brazilians, I'll never stray from sugaring (that's for sure!) and I've never been so happy with my results. I had been here twice before & never experienced what I had this time around. I'll preface by saying 100% I have sensitive skin and a low tolerance for pain- that being said live done/tried it all: wax, sugar wax, laser- and yes, it's always painful and leaves me temporarily red but I get through it and am happy with the end result- this time I cannot say I was happy with the result. I left with bruises and SO much hair left behind. Granted, she let me know it was happening and that she was going to stop pulling in that area but - like I said- I have had this done before @ Lay bare and left with 99% better results, and no bruises. I was told I'll probably need to shave to remove the rest of the hair but..... there are whole patches that don't even look like they were touched && if I was satisfied with shaving.... i wouldn't have come in the first place. I wasn't given a mirror to check it out at the end so I don't even know how it looks in the areas I can't see but judging from what I can see, I wouldn't be happy about it. I've recommended friends to this studio but after this experience I don't think I'll be bringing my business back to them. The staff is really nice and great, no complaints there but I really didn't expect to leave & come home and be completely unhappy with my service. read more

I usually go to the West Hollywood location; however, since they were temporarily close I decided to give the Studio City location a try! Turns out, it's just as great! The Front Desk was already super welcoming when I entered! I had a sugar wax appointment with Jazmin who was just as great! I was long over do with my waxing; however, she made it as painless as she could! In addition, she brought up a lot more information about waxing that I didn't know about before. It was great to be well informed and to also have a good conversation to distract me from all the waxing. Like many other reviews mention, parking is not a hassle at all! Got basically a full body wax here before a trip to Mexico a couple of weeks ago, and was very disappointed. The lighting in the rooms was horrible that when they had me check out my arms and legs after the wax it looked fine but next day I noticed so many large patches where they missed. And it must of not pulled my hair by much below the surface of my skin because I noticed regrowth less than two weeks later. Good service but definitely not worth it for the waxing. read more

The woman/owner who works at the front desk is so kind and positive! I have been getting regular, monthly waxes for two years now and just started going to Lay Bare about a a month ago. But the two times I came, Karla just made the experience so unpleasant and unenjoyable. Her energy is just plain rude. I am used to getting waxed so I was shocked at how much it hurt when I got mine done. I also wish I had been made aware of if I was getting sugared before we started. The wipe down with the cold towel was extremely uncomfortable but that might be because Karla was just over it. Though the prices are decent and the salon is beautiful, my waxer created an unpleasant environment and is the reason why I will not be returning. read more

After seeing the yelp reviews and $19 deal, I came here today for my first sugaring (I usually wax) and while it was definitely less painful than waxing the aftermath has been worse. I got home to discover that there were entire patches of hair that had been missed and I have bruising. I have never in my years of being waxed, come home to bruising. I look like I have hickeys on my most private area. It also hurts to walk. I had been so happy when I left thinking that I had found my new place to go, but after my discoveries when I got home I will never go back. It was such a bummer when they switched locations from Weho to Studio City because I knew I'd have to start making a drive. There are tons of sugaring salons in Weho, but I've yet to experience better service from any business or any technician. I'm new to waxing and was important for me to find a place that will be gentle with me. 2 months ago I went for my first Brazilian wax in a different vendor and it was so painful and the lady there didn't even care about me so I was super afraid to try it again. But it's the summer and I really wanted to do a Brazilian again. So I went to lay bare and Sheerly was so amazing !! She explained how they make the wax and talked me through the process. I love this place! It's my go to salon to get affordable brazilians. I love how they use all natural products to wax and they really take into consider hygiene! I have been to some waxing studios where they dont even wear gloves or change the paper on the waxing bed! The girls here are so friendly and nice they try to keep you calm as possible so you can relax and have a less painful experience! I love going to this location because they are now open on Sundays, since they merged with the Northridge location staff. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have found this place. When I walked in Josie greeted me and she saw I was a nervous nelly. (I had not had a Brazilian in about 5 years. I recently moved to LA and now that I am near a beach I need a little more than at home maintenance.) Any-who, the space is relaxing and the bathroom was spotless with ample toiletries to freshen up before the procedure. When Josie and I reunited part of me thought back to the pain of brazilians-past and almost chickened out for a basic bikini wax. Since I was undecided, Josie was patient and worked on the outside areas but once I felt the first pull I knew I wanted to go for the gusto! I'm squeamish but it's the most pleasant waxing experience I have ever had. Don't get me wrong, it's not pain-free. But, considerably less pain than a normal wax. Not to mention, the other health benefits of exfoliation, the use of natural ingredients and no likelihood of cross contamination (which are huge bonuses to me). The prices are extremely reasonable and the packages are amazing! By the time I left, Josie and I were like old friends. I even added on services like my underarms because my pits are dark and I want to return them to their former glory. I left SATISFIED. I'll definitely be back. Oh, a word of advice, park in the garage. Sugaring takes a bit longer than regular waxing. The other waxer was kind enough to put money in the meter so that I would not get a ticket. I believe I first came to Lay Bare because of a Groupon. The Studio city location is closer to me but I went to another location because they had availability when I wanted to go in. After that 1st time, I have consistently gone to this location. Ana was my 1st waxer here and I won't go to anyone else (although I'm sure they're great!). Ana is super friendly and makes you feel as comfortable as possible. Plus she does a great job at Brazilian waxing and eyebrow threading. Prior to coming here I would only do hard waxing. They use sugar wax at Lay Bare and I'm hooked! It's gentle on the skin and less painful (well I'm weird and waxing isn't painful to me at all lol). With consistent sugar waxing I find that I have less ingrown hairs, my hair grows back finer, and I need to wax less frequently. All of the other staff is very friendly and warm. The facility is clean and comfortable. I highly recommend Lay Bare. It's my go to spot. I won't go anywhere else. read more
