The space itself isn't the cleanest--pretty dusty, and some items, like the records, are heavily scratched and have an unpleasant smell. I understand that thrifting and vintage shopping often come with some wear and tear, especially in a space of this size, but compared to my favorite resale shops, it doesn't quite measure up. Additionally, the selection doesn't seem to rotate much, and I rarely find more than one or two worthwhile items. The floors looked dirty and the wares were haphazardly piled on top of each other on the shelves. The prices also seemed high, but I'm not sure if they have some sort of discount based on tag color or something. There was a lady making a bunch of noise tossing sporting goods merchandise around as I thought she shopped, but later on I ran across her in another area of the store throwing plastic toys around and realized that she was an employee. I purchased a stereo subwoofer from this store. I plugged it in at the store and it powered on,…read morebut once I brought it home and connected it properly, it produced almost no output and the back panel became dangerously hot. The unit was so overheated I couldn't even touch it -- a clear fire hazard. I called the store to return this defective and unsafe item, and the request was denied due to "policy." That is unacceptable. A nonprofit that pays its top eight executives nearly $4,000,000 according to public filings should not be refusing returns on hazardous merchandise. I will no longer shop at this Goodwill location. I will take my business to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore next door, where items are tested, clearly labeled, and the store policy actually stands behind what they sell. Better selection, better integrity, and far better customer treatment than what I experienced here.
