I absolutely urge you to avoid this business. As a wedding gift for me, my fiancée met with the people at Baribault and asked them to: 1) melt down gold jewelry from our families and create a new medallion, 2) add the new medallion to my gold chain which already had two medallions on it, and 3) clean the whole chain before we picked it up. They assured my fiancée that this was no problem, as they specialized in custom pieces of jewelry. The chain was left with them, and they were entrusted with a family heirloom. The chain had belonged to my deceased grandfather. What we got instead was a complete and utter disaster. When my fiancée's mom went to pick it up at Baribault, she found that the chain had been broken at the clasp, it had been shortened significantly, and they had LOST one of the original medallions that was on the chain. When the person at the front counter went to ask the jeweler about it, they insisted that the chain only had one medallion on it to begin with. I have worn this chain for years with two medallions on it, and for the jeweler to try to make the issue go away by saying this is completely offensive. After a lot of back and forth between my fiancée's mom and the person at the jewelry counter, Baribault offered to overnight a new medallion to replace the old one. This was at least something but really does not come close to making up for the fact that they LOST the original medallion. The jeweler didn't even come out from the back to apologize and made the person at the front counter deal with this fiasco themself. We followed up directly with Louis Baribault who said that he would review security footage to try and see what went wrong. It has been over a week since we spoke with him, and we have not heard from him since. This jeweler ruined a special gift for our wedding day and truly caused me and my fiancée so much distress over this family heirloom being completely ruined. I can't even wear the chain to our wedding because Baribault Jewelers broke so much off of it that it no longer fits comfortably. I really would never recommend that anyone go here. read more

This place is amazing. During this covid-19 pandemic I had planned on getting married end of this month. I really needed my engagement ring resized as it grew a bit right over the last 3 years. I had emailed them and they responded quickly. They offered designated drop days and did everything while I was in the car and they were outside wearing masks. I told them the size I needed it and the ring was engraved. I figured I'd loose that but they even redid it! The ring came out beautiful and at a fair price. The owner is rude and condescending. He quoted me $100 more than another jeweler in the area to perform a routine jewelry repair. He degraded the item I brought in, threw it down on the counter. If you're not buying something here, they treat you differently. The jewelry-buying customers were being treated much better. If they offer jewelry repair as a service, they should treat that customer just as well as the others. Otherwise, they shouldn't offer it. Don't go here for jewelry repairs, ever. I purchased two items and discovered I was charged twice the price on one item when I got home and happened to see the same item and model number in the brand's retail catalogue. I immediately contacted the "Customer Excellence Team" listed at the bottom of the Baribault Jewelers website. After researching the prices and examining my receipts scanned and emailed to them, the "Customer Excellence Team" agreed I was overcharged but said that they cannot process any credit card requests via email and referred me to the local Glastonbury store customer service team member. In fact, they "copied" the store on the email. The Glastonbury store member subsequently contacted me by telephone stating very rudely that the invoice was correct and they would not issue a refund. They would not honor the price quoted by the "Customer Excellence Team" which was about $35 less than what I was charged. This was the Baribault Jewelers Customer Service Team! What type of policy and business model is this? For such a small error on pricing? Bottom line: I would NOT recommend this store and will not shop here again. Absolutely fabulous service, excellent selection and fast turnaround! I had a custom engagement ring made that I designed, and they fully blew my expectations out of thee water. After showing them my drawings I got tons of skillful tips on how to make the ring look even nicer than I envisioned, then 2 weeks later it was ready and literally blew my mind out of the back of my skull when I saw it. My fiance hyperventilated for a full 2 minutes before she was even able to say yes, which she did with authority once she came back to reality after seeing the ring. I had to get it re-sized as it was too big; this was done very quickly and perfectly, the ring now fits like it is a part of her. We have also gotten a lot of her jewelry repaired here, where it was done quickly and with the utmost care and skill. Amazing! I came across Baribault's in a google search for jewelers repairing services. My initial engagement ring, which was from another jeweler, broke and the center stone fell out so I went to Baribault's in search of advice & possible servicing. One of the staff (I never caught her name) was very helpful and honest with me about what my options were. She recommended I go through the original jeweler so I don't have to pay extra or cancel any warranty/guarantee, and noted that even if it were to be repaired at Bauribault, there was no guarantee because the prong could break again. I went through my jeweler and found what she said was like foresight. After the repair with the original jeweler, the same prong broke again with less than a day's length of wearing it. Anyhow, I got that ring refunded and returned to Baribault's to view their selections. I am drawn by their expertise and customer service. Patty helped in recreating the ring I was initially proposed with- a three stone ring with a moonstone center piece and diamonds on a 14k white gold band. It is beautiful and so much better than the original! And the sparkle of the diamonds... I thought of myself as a gal who didn't fantasize about diamond until I look at my ring! My fiancé purchased my ring from Boston, MA, and I needed it resized again. I didn't want to go back to Boston, and was recommended to Baribault from a friend. Even though I did not purchase a ring from them, they still treated with the most excellent customer service ! I stopped by today to sell off a 14k necklace I no longer wear. After they evaluated it to ensure it was real gold behind closed doors they came out stating it was only 10k. When I showed them the 14k stamp on the clasp and questioned it, they brought it back in and came out saying that it was, in fact, 14k?!?! My Fiance could not stop raving about how much help he received while picking out my beautiful Tacori ring. Lewis, the gentleman who sold my ring to my Fiance even called to follow up on how the proposal went! IT GETS BETTER: While on Vacation where he proposed, I bent part of my ring because it was too big and I did not want to wait to get it re-sized. ( It had nothing to do with the quality of the ring; I'm reckless and it was 18k white gold which bends if smashed). I took it back to Baribault and they were so apologetic that something like this would happen. NEWS FLASH-we didn't even have insurance on the ring yet because we just got back from vacation! Absolutely awful experience when I brought my brand new watch (Seiko Premier Automatic) to baribault for resizing. I called ahead and was told they can do this. What a mistake. The people there are friendly enough and one of them took the watch and went to a back room. Then the nightmare began. I heard a lot of loud hammer blows - hammer blows!! The outcome, the watch band was deeply gouged and the three links taken out were utterly defaced and had their pins turned into pretzels. I paid them $16 dollar to have a brand new $600 watch damaged. She used sledge hammer to deal with watches!!!! Be warned, run away from this place! read more

Totally messed up my wedding ring when they resized it. In addition to resizing, they RESHAPED it! It was supposed to have a flat outside and outside, with a little radius on the inside corners. Now it looks just like any other wedding band. I went back and asked them to fix it. After a few days, they called saying the ring was done but they failed to fix it. The only thing they successfully did was remove the horribly-done engraving they did the first time. So disappointed! read more

I visited several Jewelers in the area to shop around (as I'm sure many do with such a large purchase) and in the end, I returned to Baribault because their service was by far above the rest. They were not pushy at all and when it came to choosing a diamond for the engagement ring, I was admittedly very picky. They showed me everything in their on hand inventory that came as close as possible to the specifications that I was looking for. When I couldn't decide, they offered me the option to have other diamonds overnighted from California that I may be interested in. Unethical, immoral, and downright dishonest are the three best words I can use to describe this jewelry store and, specifically, Christine, the owner's daughter, a sales person for this despicable establishment. My fiance' and I were comparison shopping for the best price on her Tacori ring and called Baribault. Christine was all sweet and nice on the phone and email while secretly trying to simply find out who else we were talking to and who was undercutting their prices so they could report that other jeweler to Tacori who, unbeknownst to us, does not allow discounting on their products, so Baribault could thereby eliminate a competitor. All along promising, IN WRITING, to match the price of any other Tacori authorized dealer, along with a "bonus gift" of an iPad mini if a Tacori item was purchased from them, as SOON as they had the information of who the other jeweler was, they cut off all contact and refused to honor their price matching commitment, all the while knowing that Tacori would refuse to honor our purchase from the OTHER jeweler we had been talking to at the reduced price they had quoted. Baribault not only cost us an EXTRA $600 we could REALLY have used for our wedding by now having to purchase the ring from another jeweler at full retail, but Baribault Jewlers has also put us PRECARIOUSLY close to our wedding day before the ring will arrive. Unless you like dealing with dishonest people who will lie to your face as long as they think it will make them an extra dollar, no matter no matter how negatively it affects YOU, I would find another jeweler. I have filed complaints with the BBB and am considering legal avenues for their breech of written contract via email. I wish I had read the other review about bringing a watch in for fitting. I brought in a brand-new never worn Longinese watch with stainless steel bracelet. When I got the watch back it looked like it had been placed in a vice. I have since taken the watch to another jeweler to have as much of the damage removed as possible.
