Terrible customer service. Lack of empathy for pets and human beings. My dog had his first vet appointment at the Providence on Webster last month. While I spent a lot of money, I was happy to know that my dog finally got some treatment for his arthritis. Due to my schedule, they scheduled me for his monthly Librela shot at the Pacific location. I got a call today (on the day of his appointment) saying that I need a record of his vaccinations before he can get his second dosage of Liberla shot. During the first visit, they never once mentioned that I need to submit his record of vaccinations, as I don't have them. They said that according to CA law, they can't give him his Librela shot without the rabies booster, which is understandable, but I wish they would have told me that even prior to sedating him, giving him X-rays and his first dosage of Librela. Since my dog desperately needs his Librela shot today, I asked if they could comped the $37 rabies shot. They said "no". I spent $1800 on the first vet visit and his monthly Librela shot is $180. I would have never done that if I would have known about their requirements and terrible customer service. The reception stood firm on their $37 rabies shot requirement, never apologized or even empathized with my frustration. It's ridiculous how fast they take our money, then make rules and refuse to compromise because they know that our pets need the car. Very disappointing. read more

I recently adopted my sister's dog Rockie from Phoenix, and wanted to get him established with a local vet in Alameda. All communication with the office on Webster St., from phone calls to emails and in-person was outstanding! The front desk was all smiles as soon as we walked in, and the lady who roomed us was also friendly and attentive to our needs. The vet was patient with Rockie, and made us feel comfortable too. Lots of treats and love were given throughout the appt. She gave us the prescription he needed and also emailed us a link to a video we could watch with our kids. It's a big change in environment for Rockie, so I am glad we found such a supportive and professional veterinary clinic. read more

Dr. Clemens is always great with Thor, coming to him where he is comfortable, making his exam thorough, but gentle and as fast as possible. We had a wonderful experience at Providence. They were able to fit us in the same day even as a new patient, and we were seen right away when we arrived. Our veterinarian was incredibly caring and attentive to both me and my dog. She took the time to thoroughly address our concerns and made sure all of our questions were answered. Top notch staff and care. I've worked with at least three vets here and never had a bad experience. We have also had at least two major surgeries through this location, and both experiences were great, with follow-up calls from the surgeons themselves to discuss the procedure and afterwards activities. Everyone is caring and friendly, or maybe I just have that effect on people. As much as I like to credit the latter, it's probably some of both. But you pay for what you get! read more

In 2022 I moved to Alameda and was looking for a new vet for my senior cat Frankie. After doing a lot of research, I made an appointment with Dr. Harris - who is FANTASTIC! She is compassionate, thorough and very patient (both with Frankie and myself). Recently Frankie had a couple of ingrown claws that I didn't see until he started limping. The staff was able to get me an appointment the same day with Dr. Feng, who is also very kind and compassionate, and reassured me I wasn't the worst cat Mom in the world for not catching it right away. They took great care of him and followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure he was doing well. I've been going to Providence since I rescued my dog, Nala, nearly 10 years ago. They have always been attentive to Nala's needs and she has been thriving. She is an anxious dog but they do everything they can to keep her calm and happy. We had a wonderful experience with Mimi, the vet tech. I took my senior dog for an annual check up and Dr. Clemens was very thorough in explaining the test that needs to be done, preventative measures for senior dogs, results of the lab test and the medications that my dog needs to take. The front desk staff are always friendly. They are courteous over the phone. The scheduling online is easy. Gives you a call reminder about the appointment. Last night, I was running late to pick up my dogs meds -- i told the staff that im stuck at the traffic in the tunnel and im on my way there... it was stressful but the staff told me that she will wait for me until 6:10pm -- i made it at 5:58pm -- staff was still friendly and understanding. We love Providence! I've been a cat parent going on 20 years, and Providence has provided outstanding and compassionate care for both of my cats, including some very sensitive and thoughtful end-of-life care for our older cat who passed away. We just recently boarded our baby girl Sandwiches for 14 days while we were in Kauai, and she came back to us happy, healthy, and quite spoiled from all of the attention she received. Providence Vet Clinic is a great establishment with kind and caring employees! I am super protective over my fur baby and know that when I drop him off for an appointment he is in good hands. I started coming here during the pandemic. Once you arrive you call the front desk to check in. They then send someone out to grab your pet and bring them in for their appointment. You can then wait outside, or grab a bite to eat/drink while you wait for them to call you with an update. They tell you what they need/plan to do during the appointment and costs before administering any care to your animal. Once you approve they complete the appointment and you can pick up your pet! Every worker is so nice and friendly. I do wish sometimes I could be in the exam room during my pets appointment, but understand their protocols. read more
