Wednesday afternoon, 4 families lost their homes due to roofers damaging a water pipe and flooding…read morethe building. The city came and condemned the entire building by Wednesday night and we all had to leave. One family has lost everything, the other 3 have lost their homes. While the roofing company and the HOA that hired them are trying to figure out who is responsible, 4 families are looking for a new place to live for the foreseeable future. No relief has come from the roofing company nor the HOA to assist with those efforts. However, I have to tell you all about the amazing people at Magic Pet in Baldwin Park who looked past how busy they already are during the Christmas season, and decided to help the people. As soon as our home was condemned, around 6:30PM Wednesday night, I walked to Magic Pet and told them what had happened and that we needed a place to take our 2 dogs and 2 cats. I told them I didn't know how long they would be there and we needed help. The owner looked at me and said, "Bring Them. Bring Them. We are busy, but we are a community and we are here to help our community. Bring them." I almost cried as one stress was immediately lifted with no questions - just compassion and a willingness to help. If you ever need boarding or grooming services for your pets, they have always treated our sweet pups well - and they are treating the humans well also. While the roofing company and HOA are trying to save as much money as possible and continue to hold someone else responsible for the immense damage, the wonderful owner of Magic Pet made room and DID something to help.

While I was trying to explain how I wanted my dog groomed and show reference photos, he was already walking away to start the service. I had to repeat myself multiple times, and even then, it didn't feel like he was actually listening. They spent less than an hour grooming my dog, which already felt rushed, and the result was very disappointing. When they brought her back, the face and head looked nothing like what I had clearly shown and requested. This wasn't an unrealistic request--it's a style that has been successfully done by other grooming companies before. When I said I wasn't happy, instead of addressing the issue professionally, the groomer yelled to his coworker, "She said the face isn't how she wanted it." There was no apology, no attempt to fix it, and no concern at all from the other groomer. On top of that, my appointment was scheduled for 1:00 PM, and they didn't arrive until 2:20 PM--without any call, message, or apology for being late. After this experience, I called the company and spoke with Daniela. She said she would speak with the manager and call me back. When she did, I was told the only resolution offered was $20 off a future grooming--which I will not be using given my previous experiences. I explained that I would not be returning and asked if anything could be done about the $100 I had just paid for a service I did not request and was not satisfied with. I was told that was the only option available. When I asked to speak directly with the manager, I was told--and I quote--"the manager doesn't speak with clients." That response alone speaks volumes. A company that delivers poor service, offers minimal resolution, and then refuses to communicate directly with customers shows a complete lack of accountability. Overall, the service felt rushed, unprofessional, and careless. I am extremely frustrated and do not recommend this company.

Our Irish Setter has been groomed here multiple times, yet the services have consistently felt lazy and inconsistent. Most recently, the grooming job was extremely poor, as shown in the photos. Despite our dog having an established "file" and us communicating our instructions directly to the groomer, we were later told it was still our responsibility to ensure everything was explained again. After we called to express our concerns, they asked us to send photos as evidence of the grooming. Following an investigation and conversations with both the owner and store manager, they admitted the groom was not up to their standards and apologized, which we did appreciate. What was disappointing, however, was the resolution they offered. Instead of refunding the service, they offered a discount on a future appointment. That felt presumptuous, considering this experience left us with little confidence in trusting them to groom our dog again. They also mentioned that, if we returned, they would make sure a groomer who "specializes in setters" handled him next time. This was frustrating to hear because our dog has been groomed there multiple times already, and that option was never previously mentioned.

Much to my surprise, Joseph answered my message in under five minutes, instructing me to call in the morning and he'd do his best to squeeze me in. I called first thing in the morning, and it worked out for them to send Dan to us in the mobile grooming truck less than two hours later. He did a wonderful job with Rocky (getting him all clean and shaved and the full works) and I'm extra grateful because he let us know about an ear infection, so we were then off to find a vet. Often times my mom would say my dog looks like Betty Boop with the way the groomer trims his ears. This however, was not the case here at the Winter Park Pet Villa. My dog actually looked cute after his haircut! The groomer knew what he was doing, and not only did I get my dog back with shorter hair, but the style suited my dog. The groomer knew how to cut my dog's hair to fit his breed. The groomer was very nice and accommodating to what I wanted. There are 8 time slots available each day. The order the dogs are dropped off between 8-10 will determine what order the dogs are groomed. Depending on the number in line, the groomer can give an estimate time your dog will be ready for pickup. I definitely recommend this place, and I will be returning.
