Bark Avenue is my dog's home away from home. The facility is clean and spacious and it's staffed day and night which is sometimes hard to find in the area. The staff is super friendly and educated. The prices are reasonable and my dog is always happy to arrive and super tired and happy when he gets home. I have known about Bark Avenue for years. We used to bring our old Saint to get bathed. But he couldn't do daycare so we never used it. Fast forward to now we have a two yr old Saint Bernard Odie. I researched all the local places, some were hesitant to take Odie because of his size. But not Bark Avenue, they welcomed him with open arms, he passed his test and he couldn't be happier going. Odie can play with all kinds big or small, and all ages, most of all he loves his caretakers. When I see him on camera staring up at them getting attention I know my boy is in good hands. One day he was upset his frenz were leaving and was crying and whining, they sat with him and hugged him to make him feel better. This means to world to me and it's how they treat all the dogs. Gone downhill. Just picked up my dog after a week boarding. Full of urine, matted clumps of fur under her belly and neck and she's subdued. Clearly neglected and not adequately taken out to potty. The matted fur and yellow stained white fur clearly shows she wasn't adequately allowed out to potty. I'm furious and will be reporting this to the authorities. My mother dropped our PUPPY (not even 1 year old and less than 4 pounds) off this morning and was given access to the cameras. Later my mother called to check in and someone told her my dog was going down for a nap and was overwhelmed by the other dogs. My mom called me and told me to come get her because none of the employees were playing with or paying attention to these dogs unless they went to the bathroom. As I pulled up, there was people with the outside dogs playing with them, so why was my PUPPY all alone? When I went a picked her up, someone told me another dog was bullying my puppy. In my opinion if you have children, you take care of your dog as you would your children. This place did not care for my child at all. My dog was scared and alone the whole time and not a single person came to play with her and comfort her. Unbelievable. read more

I really wish I could spotlight the people who work at Bark Avenue. They're so fantastic and accommodating. We boarded our dog here while we went away on vacation for a full week. I had a crazy schedule that morning which included getting ready for a huge event I was coordinating and then flying the very next morning out to meet my family in Florida. I called in and asked if I could drop Toby (my dog) off early and they had no issue. Then when we returned, they gave him a bath and he was happy as could be. More importantly, he was well exercised and was happy to just snuggle in my lap that night. I love that I can bring my dog here to day care without any long commitment or any crazy strings attached like some places around here. I went here on a tour and the facility wasn't as clean as I thought it should be but I pushed it to the side. I proceeded to bring my dog here one time and he loved it. The second time, my dog looked at me and wasn't very excited to be there which I was hesitant at first but I decided to let him stay for the day. I am so glad we found Bark Ave! I have two XL dogs (one anxious rescue included) and they have been more then welcoming to them. My husband and I stopped by unannounced to tour the facility and the staff was happy to show us around. The dogs all looked like they were having a blast! Both of my dogs have been to daycare for most of their life but we needed one closer to our new home. The first day I dropped them off they were both a little apprehensive but now they start whining with excitement when we get off the highway! We have brought them 4 times now and each time they get more and more excited to go to daycare - the prices are super reasonable and the dogs love it. It is very clear that the dogs are the number 1 priority for the staff and it is so appreciated. We haven't had them board for an overnight yet but definitely will in the future. read more

We have been boarding our dog here for almost 4 years now and never any issue. He always comes back from daycare and boarding tired and happy. The excitement he shows when we pull down the roadies on is off the charts. One time we boarded him and his ear became an issue. The staff promptly called us, and transported him to the vet to get the medicine he needed. They even covered the bill, which we paid them for when we returned from vacation. I will leave my initial review here but want to provide an update: my concerns were addressed and the situation was fairly handled. I wasn't asked to update my review but given their professionalism and willingness to listen to my feedback, I felt compelled to update my review. I encourage all dog parents to trust the bark avenue staff with their babies. They do a phenomenal job and truly care. Initial review: I've brought my Beagle mix Sookie here many times, mostly for overnight stays. In the past, the staff has always been friendly and communicative. They gave us a tour our first day and the space is clean and designed to give the pups plenty of space to play. I liked that we could check out their Facebook page to see how Sookie was doing in photos and videos. During Sookie's last stay, we got a voicemail from the staff letting us know that she wasn't going to have open play with all of the other dogs. Apparently, she had gotten too rowdy and would need to be placed in a smaller group. In addition, we would be charged an extra $5 per night for her stay because she would require extra attention. (We got this call day 2 of a 9 day stay.) I was upset, not because of the price increase but because I was concerned about Sookie. She is sweet but can be super hyper at times. Still, they'd never before expressed to me that she had behavioral issues during her other stays. I called back to get further explanation but kept missing the owner/manager. I left at least one voicemail, maybe two after the initial time they picked up and we spoke, just to see if Sookie had progressed. No one got back to me and I didn't see any pictures of her on social media which I thought was odd. When we went to pick her up, I expressed my disappointment, letting a staff member know that I didn't see Sookie on their Facebook after her first day there. Sookie's energy was very low when she got home and she was shedding a lot more hair than usual. Maybe she was stressed out? I don't know what her experience was like after day 2 because no one ever got back to me to let me know. Was she put in a kennel and only let out certain times? I have no idea. read more

What a GREAT staff! Everyone I have spoken to has been so helpful, friendly and professional. Even though it was the first time I dropped off my pups, they knew who I was picking up at the end of the day before I reminded them who I was! This was the first time I have had my 3 dogs at a doggy day care as well as boarding them over night. I was nervous to leave them as two of them have separation anxiety issues. The staff addressed all my concerns and I felt the pups were well taken care of. It really helped seeing all the pictures posted while I was away. What a lovely place! We had a car emergency on route 91 and had to find a place to board our golden, Samantha, for the day. Staff were quite pleasant and helpful. Samantha had a wonderful time playing with the other dogs! The space is a generous size and well maintained, as I could see from their cute Facebook page where they posted photos of the dogs every few hours! Absolutely love this place and highly recommend. I've been taking my new puppy/dog here for about a month and she absolutely LOVES IT !!! She gets so excited when she sees where we are. The owner at Barf Avenue is more concerned about new adoptions rather than the many loyal clients that have been bringing there dogs for daycare. Recently I had to leave Barf Ave due to the amount of dogs there daily and the lack of enough employees to oversee the behavior of dogs. My dog was bitten by another dog and not even a phone call. We heard about a puppy being up for adoption at Bark Ave and went right over to meet her. We fell in love right away and filled out an application. The woman there told us that no one else had filled out an application for her and that they would get back to us within two days. Knowing we would get approved and that we were the only ones looking at the pup we started picking names and already got attached to her. Having not heard back from them we left a message on the second day. On the third day they called us back saying that we had been approved but that the puppy (that they told us only we had been looking at) had already been adopted. This was obviously a huge surprise to us and it really just sucked. Already thinking of her as our own it felt like she was taken from us and it seems like they just lied to us. It could have all just been a mistake that the girl made while we were there but they need to be more careful about these things. Dogs aren't just things we buy. It's adding another family member to our house to love and care for and these kinds of mistakes are really upsetting and unacceptable. All of this being said the two people we met while we were there seemed very nice and I'm sure this was all just a mistake. I honestly would go back if they have more puppies while we're still looking because they were nice and their price is much better than other places - I just hope they are more careful in the future so that other people don't have to go through this. read more

We decided to try Bark Ave over the Christmas holiday and were not disappointed. Our dog was well taken care of and had a blast running and playing with the other dogs. The facility is clean and spacious and it's a huge plus that there is someone on site 24 hours a day. We go between NYC and CT and Bark prices are extremely reasonable for the service.
