I purchased the training package for my dogs a while ago. I wasn't going to do a review but decided I should since I am now looking for a new trainer and wish I would have known before purchasing. It's not quite what it was hyped up to be when I called. It's supposed to be lifetime and it was very expensive and unfortunately did nothing for my dogs. I met with Michelle 3 times all less than 1 hour and spent well over $2,000. Quite disappointed and wish I would have seen more honest reviews prior. She does push for positive reviews at her first visit. Like someone else mentioned she teaches you to bark and growl at your dogs to get them to listen and follow commands. I think it maybe works during her first visit because they are so confused at first but quickly looses effectiveness. read more

My 2 little pups and I are doing so much better with meeting people and other dogs, I am amazed how quickly they caught on to toning down the barking. Wow I can now have people over to the house without having a crazy scene of barking. Lesson number two is tomorrow and I believe we will be working on walking the two dogs together. These two babies were rescue dogs that apparently had been raised together but had very little social skills. I really believe we're going to have no problem once we get the tips on walking because actually based on what we've already learned we've put a lot of their new tips in motion with walking and a lot of things we do around the house. Although our training with Bark Busters started out well, we paid for a specific amount of sessions with the trainer and didn't receive all the sessions. The last session we were to have was for walking, which was the most important piece of the training and I expressed this to our trainer who kept putting me off and rescheduling and then putting it on me to constantly follow up. Connor and Hanna are incredible! Both of them are obviously K-9 lovers, but they're also great at dealing with humans. I first met Michelle back in 2008. I had just gotten a new puppy and wanted this new puppy to be a part of our family and I knew he needed training. Greatest Investment we made since getting our dog! We have an 18 mos Chocolate Lab who is a giant puppy stuck in a 100lb body. We are fine with that, accepted the fact he can and may knock you down, drag you while you take him on a "walk", bark and pin guests that walk in our house, and can easily rearrange our furniture. However, we are now new parents and have a 5mos daughter, which greatly changes the situation in our household. The once "uncontrollable" we screwed up as dog parents - DOG now needs to desperately chill bc I feared he could hurt our daughter on accident. I was also very skeptical that she claimed to be able to train our dog in one session. The same dog that shredded the book Marley & Me (which is why we got a lab). I wanted to cry - move over Caesar - Michelle actually speaks to dogs. Walking Thor is enjoyable now. Controlling him has made it that much more easily to love him. We don't even kennel him anymore. He is still very much a puppy and will start to get hyper, but he responds well. I feel a lot more relieved to have my daughter on the floor. He understands boundaries and will not lay on her blanket (her space). Never give up on your pets as you never give up on your kids. Its constant work, but worth it! In early September our family adopted a 5 month old chocolate lab puppy. She has the sweetest disposition but had little training. It had been well over 7 years since our last dog and to jump into a puppy, I knew we needed extra help with training. I had received many referrals for other trainers prior to selecting Michelle. I read a lot of great reviews about Michelle and did a lot of "googling" about her before making my selection. I couldn't find anything bad said about Michelle and they have all proven to be more than accurate. She has an incredibly long history of training dogs (30+ years). She is passionate about what she does and a great educator. She explains early on that she is training the human, not the dog. As she teaches you why that is, you begin to learn why her training works so well. We have seen a great improvement in our puppy. We've also learned (through Michelle's help) that our puppy has bad coping skills. We couldn't figure out why she was so scared of everything. Michelle has given us several training practices to apply to our pups needs and in time I know that our puppy will be able to go to a park, long walks, etc. Out of respect for Michelle, I do not want to give away her training methods, all I can say is, hire her. Her methods make sense and they are effective! Michelle has been more than just a trainer to our family. She has been available at the drop of a hat when I had a question for her regarding our puppy. She has offered a whole slew of information outside of training that has helped us with our puppy. I called Bark Busters for help because my 4 year old lab, Al, had some severe behavioral issues. The worst, and most worrisome, was his food aggression. He has lunged at me, growling and snapping, because I've tried to take his empty food bowl away to put up (otherwise he would guard it all day). He also had ZERO manners. I live on an acre of land and twice this year, while walking him outside to do his business, he saw some animal in the front yard and tore off after them. I'm 4'10 and he is more than half my weight so the first time that happened he drug me through the entire yard full of rocks and cacti. My ankle was sprained and I was covered in pretty bad cuts and scrapes. The second time I was lucky and he slammed me into my car so I was able to get a hold on him. Recently I took him to our vet and it was PACKED full of dogs in the waiting room. Usually my boyfriend comes with me so he can control Al but this time it was just me. He was barking and dragging me all over the place trying to get to the other dogs. One dog was not so friendly and barked at Al and Al just lost it and tried to lunge after the other dog. He almost got away but I was able to pin him against the front desk and the wall, holding him there with my full body weight. I cried when I finally got into a room. Al had severe dominance issues and would try to instigate fights with dogs. I had to get rid of another dog I had because he would pester her and corner her to the point of her attacking him. He has tried to mark people who came into my house. He snatched food from people. If I tried to pet my cats he would come over and hit them with his paws until they ran away. He would do the same if someone brought their baby over and he was no longer the center of attention. There was never any peace because he always had to be RIGHT on me whenever I did anything, especially sit on the couch. He would paw me and slam into me with his body if I wasn't paying attention to him. He chewed his toys on me, which often led to him accidentally biting me as he chewed on his toys. He jumped on people when they came in the door so I had to crate him every time the door bell rang. He'd lunge out the front door. He was just a mess. Then Michelle came over and taught me how to work with him and how to speak his language. She taught me exercises that would teach him personal space, leash etiquette, and front door management. She taught me how to work out his food aggression. She taught me how to get him to respect me as the dominant one. From the very first day of working with him, he showed so much improvement. It was stressful for him and wore him out, but he really grasped the training. I was just amazed at the results. It's been a few weeks, and we've had some kinks, but Al has improved so much. I can actually pet him now while he's eating. He's so much more calm. Michelle came by today and even commented on how well he'd improved. I'm so happy with her and I am so grateful that she's been so helpful. There have been plenty of times where I've texted her with questions and she texts back pretty quickly, even at night. Michelle was great. She spent more than the allotted time talking with us about everything puppy. We have a very active 11 week old toy aussie who is going through all the usual puppy issues. Michelle helped us to understand his point of view and create an appropriate environment where he can look to us as his leader at all times. In less than a week we have solid progress on play biting (my punctured hands, yeow) and have a plan for basic obedience. Potty training, even with a doggie door, is still an ongoing challenge, but Michelle responded within a day to our inquires for further direction and support.
