They understood. They took very good care of my Zoey. They could tell she was a little sad. So, they gave her extra attention. Fennel loves BHVI! As a parent, I appreciate how each staff member greets Fennel when she arrives to board. The staff makes it a point to know all of the dogs and each of their personalities. I made a reservation weeks ago to bring my dog who has been there before but not recently. when i called I ASKED if they needed updated vaccinations and was told yes! the last time my dog was there he got KENNEL COUGH,I had him vaccinated specifically because he was going back . Today 4 hours before I was to bring him I received a call from a woman, no name, who said that since he had not been there for a while he needed a compatibility day before boarding and when I called I was not told that. then she told me I needed vaccinations ,which I had asked about when I made the reservation. AGAIN not told when I made the reservations. She kept talking and was very rude. I will not ever use them again and I suggest everyone reconsider!!!! BARKING HOUND VILLAGE INN has been a true blessing for my Chihuahua Molly. Molly goes two days a week and it has greatly contributed to her socialization and to her life. The amazing staff loves her and understands her probably better than I do. It is so well run by Brooks and all the special touches that are in place as well as her safety makes it a huge part of our life. Molly is my first dog ever and they have very much helped me in the successful raising of her. She used to cry when she went but now she happily runs up the steps into Clooney's arms who is always there to greet her. I had to giggle reading Chase C's review . . . I can relate to much of what he said! My Mr. Big is pretty spoiled, too, and this is the spot we call his "doggie spa"! Not just any boarding place will do - I've tried three of the Barking Hound locations, all with great results, but this is my favorite. Mainly, it's a combination of two things: they specialize in caring for small dogs (Big is only four pounds!) and they really do get to know and care about their dog boarders and their picky owners! Apparently, he's better behaved there than he ever is at home, but I think he's just totally entertained. The staff is super-attentive and hands-on with the dogs, and they truly do pay attention to any "special instructions" you have for your best friend. They are also good about keeping careful records of cell numbers and credit cards - so if your mom or best friend is bringing in or picking up the dog, you're all set and they'll make notes of whom to call. Bottom line- I never worry about him when he's there, and that's worth evey penny! read more

The Lambert drive location is the only place I will board my 6 year old dog in Atlanta. It's clear they care about your dog from the moment you walk in the door. My dog Sadie's tail always wags on our way into Barking Hound. You know that's a good sign. An even better one, albeit sad, is that she never looks back at me to say goodbye when I drop her off for daycare or boarding. But I'm willing to nurture my neglected-parent-wounds if it means she's so excited to go and play with the other dogs that she forgets to give me even a quick glance. The staff is wonderful and they are extremely professional. You can tell that they get excited and happy to see your dogs as much as you are happy to have a couple hours in the day to yourself. I've been called out for being too nurturing and caring about my dog before, but even I feel at ease when I drop Sadie off because I know she is having a fun time. This place is a hidden gem, but I'm so glad I found it. My dog normally goes to BHV Lofts but they were booked. I'm glad they were because I probably wouldn't have sought out this location otherwise. From the moment I called to book, the staff person (wish I knew her name) sounded so excited to be there and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. She patiently and joyfully answered all my questions. They gave my dog a free day of doggie day care so they could to know her and she could get to know them. When I dropped her off that day, they let me see the suite where she would be staying and let my dog sniff around. She had a great day that day and they even posted a picture of her smiling for the camera on their Facebook page. They even give a little report card so I knew how her day went. When I dropped her off for boarding, they let me bring her crate, blankets, toys and whatever else she needed "to feel at home." The Presidential suite has a camera and I was able to watch her while I was away. They gave her a bath before I picked her up which was awesome too. Special shout out to Shimon! He works in the kennel and he loved on my dog so much. He was raving about how much fun they had and practically begged me to bring her back again so he could play with her. Here's the bottom line: dogs are like kids. Dropping them off and leaving them is never easy. You'd do anything to make sure they are happy and well cared for by people who love your dog as much as you do. Barking Hound Inn is that place and it's worth every single penny. read more

Unfortunately I picked up my dog today with serious injuries. Management refused to pay vet bill and stated that they were not responsible. I was told that there was a minor incident this morning, but according to Vet Hospital, the dog's injury(s), were 1) bite mark to neck, and 1 bloody and injured toe, that were recent, today. Unfortunately my dog had not so recent injuries to his two left legs. 1 hemotoblin and teethmark's on front leg and 1 severely bruised rear knee. So....I do know that incidents occur. But my concern is, WHY DIDNT SOMEONE TRANPORT MY DOG TO VET WHEN INJURIES OCCURRED? Staff reported an incident, but thank goodness, when the groomer tried to give my dog a bath before going home, SHE, the groomer, thank God, reported the seriousness of dogs injuries to management. DON'T GO TO @bhvatl Lambert! I love my puppy so much he is my baby, I left him in the care of Barking Hound Village Daycare for daycare and I feel horrible about it. He came home one night with the blood scabbed bloody nose and they didn't even tell me. I thought maybe he could have scratched on a toy or wall or something while playing but it bothered me no one noticed the whole 8 hours he was there and if they did, no one brought it to my attention but still I gave a second chance. Next day I was ensured someone is watching the dogs at all times in the yard and that shouldn't have happened especially since they do body checks, but clearly that was a lie. My 6month old puppy came home the next night with a bloody hole wound on his ear and blood on his fur. If you love your dog DO NOT leave him/her in the "care" of these careless handlers who are clearly ill equipped and incapable of watching the dogs or even being nearby to hear a yelp of a puppy in pain. They are desperate for business since covid so they take any dog that comes through, the compatibility test is absolutely pointless they said they watched the camera and saw the dog that did this but he was going there longer than my dog so there was nothing they could do. They gave a refund and sent me on my way never even seemed like they cared they just didn't want a problem. Another red flag I shouldn't have let slide was that they don't even check for shot records, they didn't ask for my puppy's. Don't go to @bhvatl I already feel like a horrible dog mom for trusting them. read more

NO OTHER ATLANTA DOGGIE DAY CARE AND BOARDING FACILITY COMES CLOSE - and read why!!! My spouse and I moved to Atlanta fairly recently and in a high-rise condo complex in Midtown. We are the fur-parents of two large mixed-breed rescues. "Indie" is our young, deaf, rambunctious and loving princess - an American Staffordshire and boxer mix. She was named "Indie" as she was rescued having been seen thrown from a moving vehicle on Independence Avenue around the 4th of July. Prior to Atlanta, we lived in Charlotte and had the privilege of finding a doggie daycare for our Indie from the day she arrived at our home. They helped raise her as we have always lived in condos or townhomes without yards and she needs tons of play time. After nearly 4 years under one day care facility's roof, finding a new day care in Atlanta for our special needs pit bull mix was very stressful and time-consuming. Over several weeks I personally visited at least 10 doggie daycare and boarding facilities in Midtown, downtown, and north of the Atlanta because I was not certain where I'd be working. At each facility, I interviewed the staff, toured all the play yards, inspected the overnight kennels, and inquired about their policies and procedures. I had Indie do trial nights at 3 different companies including two related Barking Hound facilities. Barking Hound Village Inn ("BHVI") stuck out from all the rest. While the extent of my vetting process may sound extreme from some pet owners' perspectives please note we have no children, our dogs are our kids, and with regular or full-time day care people in this business can ruin a dog, and undo all the work you put in just like bad babysitters and teachers. Additionally, we have spent thousands of dollars over the years on dog day care and boarding. Moreover, we travel frequently and often many days at a time so it was also very important to me that not only each day during day care be safe and active, but that our dogs not be stressed overnight, feel taken care of by the staff, and return home in the same shape as when they left. After many weeks of exceptional care for Indie, we decided for the first time in years to board our much older and inactive dog "Riley", a lab and Am Staff mix, along with Indie rather than find a friend to care for him. Remarkably, despite our expectation that he would not play well with others, and come home stressed to the max from being around all the noise common to boarding facilities, he has been transformed into a new, more youthful, easier to get along with and active dog. Boarding them together overnight in the same suite has resulted in Indie and Riley playing much more together at home. Additional strengths of BHVI include the management, the staff, and consistency. It doesn't matter what role each staff member plays, I have not encountered a single bad apple. These people love their jobs and the dogs. They are friendly, patient and have worked with me on a few personal issues that have arisen in my life with travel schedules and have met every single need. They honor special requests such as using the blanket I provide for Indie and a facility bed for Riley, feeding them separately so our hog Riley doesn't eat Indie's food, and feeding them the right meals we provide. Indie is not only deaf she has food and tactile allergies and a sensitive stomach so bathing her in the right shampoo and making sure she gets her prescription dog food is important to keeping her healthy once home. I could actually continue with accolades but have probably lost most readers by now. I strongly recommend using BHVI for all of your dog day care, boarding and bathing needs without hesitation or reservation. When you stop by, ask to see Indie. If anyone" knows" me in real life or online you know I am super duper crazy about my one and only fur baby, Rocky Aloysius Cooper Roberts (aka Rocky Poo, aka Rocky the Great). Please hold your laughter to yourself. Anywhoo, I'm also super duper protective of my fur child. Like "I will do an unannounced drive by visit on a dog daycare center just to make sure I don't have to hurt nobody" protective. Yeah, true story. Uh again, stop laughing. *side eye* I digress. The Inn at Barking Hound Village is the one place, outside of my own home and family, I trust with my dog's 2.8 pound neurotic life. The Inn is awesome for anyone who has a dog, especially a small dog, because the small and large dogs are separated into their own respective areas to ensure no injury or accidents. The Inn is also not one of those places where they will board your dog and he or she won't get any attention or affection. Nope, at the Inn every dog gets plenty potty breaks and playtime. The Inn has the friendliest, and also the most understanding, staff for people like myself who are a little "extra" about leaving their dog in the comfort of others. They will listen to your questions and concerns without any "Are you serious?!" looks on their face. You will definitely feel comfortable leaving your dog with them, and they are open to anyone dropping by through the day or calling the staff to check on their pooch. The staff takes a vested interest in all the animals and gives owners cute grading cards, when they come to pick up their pet, to tell them how their pet did for the day. Like, "Rocky played and made a new friend today." As far as the facility itself, it is clean and well maintained. There is an outside area for the dogs to stretch their legs and play and they even have a swimming pool for the dogs to get in and cool off. There are also quiet areas for dogs that may not be used to being boarded, are older, or just do better with decreased stimuli at night. The price of boarding and daycare is affordable, the cost of overnight boarding also includes daycare, and I highly recommend the Inn at Barking Hound Village to anyone with a dog. I've been going to Barking Hound Village for over 5 years for my 2 dogs. I switched from 2 other local doggie cares that were higher in price, offered less 'personal' service, and took more time to check-in/out. The staff at Barking Hound are great with the dogs, and they always welcome mine with enthusiasm when I drop them. Off service is fast (I walk in, hand them the leash, tell them dog's name if it's someone who's new, and then walk right out). 60 seconds tops. And upon pickup, they hand me leash and I go....with everything auto-billed, so need to wait. My dogs are excited every time they go there, and we're always excited to see them have a place where they can play and let out all their pent up energy. They're exhausted when they get home, which is great for both them and us! I highly recommend Barking Hound to anyone. read more

We've been taking our baby here for over 5 years and she absolutely loves it. The Inn at BHV was recommended to us b/c they have a room for puppies/small dogs (which is where our little ones plays and stays). The staff is great - and they almost always know us immediately when we walk in. This is her sole place for daycare and boarding - it didn't take long to grow comfortable leaving her there - for the day or for a week when we're out of town. They take great care of the pooches. Whenever we board, they have the routine down with food, medications (if needed), and other arrangements. Our pup (who is ~9 or 10yrs old) knows when we're "almost there" b/c she'll start squealing with joy until we get inside (literally - out loud squealing and hopping around from excitement). We'll drop her off, the staff will take her to the yard or room, and she never even looks back to say goodbye (so much for eternal loyalty ; ))! It's been very convenient for our schedules b/c the location is so close to 85, they're open until 8pm (many others only open til 7 or 730), and it just feels like home! When you pick up, they also have fun little icecream treats for the dogs you can purchase. I can't think of anything negative about it - we'll continue to use BHVI for daycare and boarding! read more

Splurged on getting my little chihuahua a haircut and nails done by Barbara. Made an appointment Sunday afternoon for the following Monday afternoon. Upon arrival, it was an easy check-in process. The groomer personally came out to ask the specifics of what I want. The groomer took my dog in right away. The whole process took only 40 minutes, and my chihuahua came back fluffed, nails trimmed, and with a great trim. I am really happy with the results. One downside: pricey $35+tip for a 5 lb chihuahua. read more

My two dogs LOVE BHV. They are treated like family, and they love the staff. I take them at least once a week for daycare, and they come home exhausted and ready to snooze. The boarding is expensive, but worth it. My dogs are my kids, and to know that they are being well cared for gives me such peace of mind when I am away. They leave clean, happy, and completely pooped (which is how I want them to be when I am returning from a trip). One of my dogs is special needs, and they are extremely accommodating to that. I know that he is getting his meds and food on time. Their record-keeping is immaculate, and all of the staff "know the drill" with my pups. My only "complaint" is that the dogs never seem sad to see me leave when I drop them off! read more

The worst service we could expect. 10 days before going on vacation I called twice to arrange everything that was necessary for my dog's accommodation. They told me they needed the vet's number and nothing else. Being out of the country a friend took my dog ​​to this establishment and was rejected. the reason, not having the papers with the vaccines up to date. for 9 days they didn't call the vet and never let us know. My doggy, Clover, loves going to daycare at BHV Inn. She's a shy, cautious girl and the staff is always sweet to her to help her feel better. Clover has gotten more comfortable as she's gotten to know them. I sometimes check in on their webcams (GREAT feature) and I can see her romping around happily. For the price I actually think it's a good deal; all the well-reviewed dog-walkers in my area charge at least half the price of daycare--for a half-hour walk! LOL. No brainer! I also really appreciate how quickly the staff learns who you are/who's your dog. I know that takes some effort to mentally log all that information! read more

Generally my dog gets nervous around strangers so I was initially nervous to board him. Turns out he loves this boarding facility. He has been coming here several times a year for about 3 years with no issues. He comes home and sleeps so I know they have allowed him plenty of play time. I have been a frequent customer for years, but unfortunately this past experience has left me concerned for any dog's well being. I have one extra large dog and one medium sized dog, so I reserved two suites for a more comfortable stay. My reservation was not entered properly, because when I arrived there was only one small crate, so I had no other choice but to upgrade to the Presidential Suite. Even though I was paying $80 for a more spacious room, my dogs never made it into the presidential suite that night. I only know this because there is a doggy cam in the suite, and they never showed up. While I was dropping my pets off, I requested that my dogs were fed separately due to food aggression. The employee showed me exactly where the two dogs were going to be fed separately, and also told me that they NEVER let dogs eat in the same crate. I was later notified that my dogs got into a fight during feeding time, because they were in the same room as they were eating. Any additional requests that I had asked for were not followed nor written down. Only one employee (Bree) seemed to care about the issues I kept experiencing. She was able to get them into the larger suite for two nights, but my dogs were staying for eight nights. I am extremely disappointed in this company, and I spent a lot of my vacation worrying about my pups. Every time I called to speak to the manager, ironically he/she were "not in at the time". Barking Hound Village Inn will never receive my business again, and I highly suggest that you look elsewhere. read more

I took my boys here this past weekend for an overnight. I made sure to tell them about the bad bruise on one's chest during the last boarding (see other review). I asked that they please not allow him to play so rough, the girl was understanding and said she would pass along. Upon completing our check in, they only had me down for 1 dog reservation. The girl actually checking us in made it seem like this was a big deal-Not my problem as I made the reservation for two. She kept repeating, "We don't have a ticket printed." Okkkk....well print a ticket?! It is not rocket science. I gave the one girl their overnight bag and gave her instructions (i.e. free feed, we will be back tomorrow at 12, diarrhea medication just in case, etc.). She walks the dogs back, and the girl checking us in proceeds to ask the same exact questions I just answered! REALLY????? When we picked them up on Sunday the girl was not helpful at all. She didn't say how their day/night was or anything. Just asked for our payment and that was that. I am used to day cares that provide a write up and tell you all about their stay-not here. I will use this place sparingly, only because they are the most affordable (we are on a budget) I have found in Atlanta. They need to definitely do better on their organization and customer service. FYI-They advertise cameras, but you can't view them on your smart phone unless you buy the app....! Whatever... read more

I love Barking Hound Village. My little yorkie Simi loves going there for daycare and the occasional boarding. The staff is really nice (my favorite is Maggie!). The only complaint I have is that recently they didn't have our reservation when we boarded our dog for Memorial Day. My husband had made them with the Manager and when he took Simi in, they claimed they didn't have anything on record. Maybe they need a new system where they can provide a confirmation so we avoid this hassle in the future. They did end up taking Simi by saying "we'll make room" but that isn't the most reassuring feeling when you're about to go out of town and you aren't certain of your little one's living arrangments. read more
