I've used BHV - Decatur, intermittently for several years with at least two different dogs. They have been very helpful to me, especially with my most recent rescue dog who obviously had been significantly abused prior to my adopting her. The personnel worked with me to gently introduce her to other dogs, allowed short visits, & gave meds as I requested. She'd tremble when we left the house. We progressed to short stays, etc., - and she's so much more self-confident now (about 20 months later - these things take TIME!) and - when I pull up there, she now pulls ME up the ramp to go in! I really appreciate that facililty and its personnel. read more

Took my new baby here for daycare and I am thorougly pleased with the service and care he received. I was kept updated throughout the day, able to view the cameras at all times and he came back to me happy and worn out. Nice place, my dog has stayed a few times. This last time, they wait until an hour after he is dropped off and we are headed out of town, to call us and tell us he is jumping and needs to be isolated during his stay... even though he had been there multiple times before. They said "he did this last time" (which was 6 months ago), so why didn't they tell us when we booked his stay a month prior to this visit?? We would've happily found somewhere else for him to go if it is too hard for them to accommodate large dogs! read more

This is the daycare that I decided to bring my pup to on the days that I was not working from home. The prices were very reasonable and the staff is friendly. They have a nice wall of fame for the dogs and theme the lobby with pics and such based on each holiday. They know all of the dogs by name and have video surveillance of the yard so that you can check in on your pet at different times throughout the day. The cameras aren't everywhere, but you can see them while they play. I used to bring my dogs lunch. They don't charge extra for that which is a plus. They do have in house food if you don't bring your own. I believe it's kibble but I'm not completely sure. I haven't used them for their boarding yet, but plan to. read more

Stay away! We have brought our dog here 3 or 4 times for grooming previously without incident but on our most recent visit, she came back with multiple cuts and razor burn everywhere. Her eyes were red and she was shaking. She was obviously extremely stressed. We were told that the groomer claims she was severely matted which we know is untrue. There was some matting on her chest but she is regularly brushed so we know the state of her coat at all times. Furthermore, some of the locations where she had severe razor burn were on her belly where she had very little fur to begin with or on her paw pads. On top of this, it's as though we have a completely different dog. She's gone from confident to skittish, she's scared of noises where she wasn't before. She curls up in a protective position whenever she lays down instead of her usual sprawling, crazy self. Finally, the manager's attitude could essentially be described as "I understand your concern but nothing I can do about it!" We're never going back there but I think it's important to share this story so that others can avoid a similar situation. I would also urge anyone considering bringing their dog here to check the company's Glassdoor reviews where several employees have pointed out that the facility is understaffed, overly dirty. More importantly, at least one employee details that they have seen staff abuse dogs. All of these things probably contribute to experiences like ours. Specifically, they only have one groomer so it isn't hard to believe that they're rushing through sessions to get through all of their appointments (speculating here but it kind of adds up) I've included a picture of the her blood stained fur on one of her paws and along one of her legs. Love Barking Hound. We've been taking our rescued pitty to doggy-daycare here for a year. Jackie goes weekly and seems to know when it's time to return and visit his friends. The facility is spacious, well maintained, organized and with a great team of folks. Big shout out to Danielle, Austin and the gang at the back, who make sure the dogs are loved, hydrated and playing well. Big wins for us is the pricing - a lot more reasonable than others we've tried - and the extended hours. During the week they close at 7p, so it really helps with our schedule. We get a report card at the end of each visit and most times the photos are of Jackie beaming from ear to ear. They offer grooming/bathing which we use - just make sure to schedule the service apart from daycare. Also, they've gotten quite busy so best thing to do is to schedule your daycare ahead of time so that your pup is reserved! Although, we usually don't have a problem getting him in. There's ample parking for pick up/drop off, even during peak times. So grateful for our Barking Hound fam and thank you for loving our lil' guy so well. read more

Have been using their wonderful daycare for my skittish rescue girl for nearly 2 years. The staff are all extremely kind and wonderful in bringing out the very best in all the dogs they care for. It is clear how much all the dogs are cared for and loved while getting lots of exercise and social time. The only slight complaint is they're so great and have such a following that reservations are needed and fill quickly! Whoever works the front desk has terrible customer service. I called a week in advance and got all of my paperwork done ahead of time. I even spoke with them ahead of time to confirm that I would bring my dog in for her initial meet and greet today. That person initially told me that we could bring dogs beginning at 9 and pickup times are flexible, but I would need to leave her for at least 5 hours. Today I called on my way and the same person said for initial play dates she needed to be there BY 9am..................... This is why I always board with her vet at VCA. Places like this are pompous and unorganized. If you can't get customer service right, you certainly can't take proper care of my dog. read more

I have been following their groomer, Gray Haynes, around Atlanta for the past 10 years. Through multiple dogs, they have all loved their groomer and showed excitement when they saw Gray! I thought that was amazing because I know my dogs don't LOVE baths or grooming but they definitely love their groomer. I drive an hour one way to take my current pups to Gray and even beyond their affections, I absolutely love their haircuts! I refer everyone who asks me to Gray and I genuinely hope you give them a try. You will be hooked like me and my furkids! read more

I don't even want to give them 1 star because my experience here several times has been terrible. This establishment will never get any of my money again. Where do I begin. On more than one occasion they fed my dog the wrong food-mind you my dog is on a vet approved diet of no meat...and yes BHV was aware. On more than 1 occasion my dog was not fed her food. They lost her leash and didn't even bother to take care of it initially until I spoke with corporate. The manager at the time wouldn't even return my call which is why I went to corporate. So i decided to not send my dog there for anything other than grooming. Well today I show up for my 11am groomer appointment at 11:01 and we stand outside because there is another dog inside being checked in thus we were waiting on the lobby to clear. The lady checking in saw us. I look at my phone for the time (11:05) when we were cleared to walk inside. Once the lady helps us she tells me because we are late that we cannot be helped.... I am very confused?? I look and see the groomer is actually still grooming a previous dog so she was NOT ready for us anyways. I ask why is our appointment canceled when I was not late and u saw me outside waiting on the lobby to clear. She replied, that I did the right thing by waiting outside and she told the groomer we were outside but groomer still insisted Atleast a 2 hour push because we weee late. I then asked is this based on my tardinesses or the groomer then...she replied it sounds like the groomer. Yet she just came out here and tried to blame the customer. I advised I will take my business elsewhere as there always seems to be an issue with this facility. This time I blame myself for giving them another chance...to prove me right. With the number of dog places in Decatur, I advise to go elsewhere! read more

I have been meaning to write a review for Hound Playground for a long time. If I could give them six stars, I would. This is my dog Stormy's third daycare, and every time we drop her off or pick her up I am astounded by the attention to detail and customer service provided. At her other daycares, Stormy was constantly in trouble, and labeled a "bad dog" and always in time out. At Hound Playground, my dog is allowed to be herself and she has had no behavioral concerns whatsoever. They understand that she is still a puppy who wants to play, and they redirect her appropriately. As far as I'm concerned this place is a Godsend, because we trust them and you can tell they really love dogs and care about your pet. Keep up the good work Hound Playground! read more

If anyone actually takes the time to watch their dogs on camera, you'll see that they're put in a kennel, without a bed or rug, for hours each day. This doesn't just happen during the staff's two-hour lunch break, it happens throughout the day for no real reason. I'm paying to have my dog not be cooped up in a kennel (on the hard floor) all day. I was very happy with the Hound Playground in Decatur. However, they are now under new ownership as Barking Hound Village and wow have things changed. I checked the webcams randomly throughout the day and the dogs are now kept in their crates much more than ever before. And this is only when the webcams work. The webcams are out very often and trying to check in on your fur-baby is not always possible. I picked up my dog after a week of boarding and they had a tag on her blanket with another dog's name. This is very frustrating and disappointing. read more

We love hound playground. It's really clean and the staff are focused on great customer service. This winter I got an email letting me know that daycare would be 1$ more a day with a thoughtful explanation of why. They need to pay there employees more to retain good staff. I was so appreciative of the excellent communication and I'm happy to pay one dollar more for the excellent service. They were already cheaper than anything else I had found. Daycare seemed great in the beginning, however, after being with the daycare for about 2 months, the dogs start coming home smelling like urine, especially after boarding. They will charge you for a bath to cover up the fact they let the boarding dogs out at 6pm for the evening and they have no choice but to sleep in their own urine. Totally disgusting. I did my research & due diligence on choosing the right fit for my Golden. There were some initial issues, which were resolved by the owners & management, but there was an outbreak of mouth warts as of last week. While I understand that this is not uncommon in daycare settings, I am most disappointed in the non-communicative attitude of owners & management. I was asked to confirm info from our vet, which I did immediately. No call back. I asked that pre paid days be credited back to my account on file; 3 word answer. No follow up from the facility even though I have spent $$$$$ with this facility & shown my appreciation for all of the staff by bring in lunch for everyone. If my dog does continue in daycare I'm not sure we'll go back to Hound Playground. read more
