My friends and family love to go for the Saturday Prime Rib. I'd say they have the best prime rib in the tri-county area. We also enjoy the Friday fish fry. My only suggestion is to offer New England clam chowder on Friday. read more

We have probably visited this establishment 10 different times over the last couple of years. At first the food was really good and very dependable. The last couple of times that we've gone not so much. Not sure if they had a chef in training or if there was a transition in the kitchen. We hope they can get back to the consistency that they used to have, because the service is really good! We are taking a break for awhile. read more

Back a few years ago I would visit this place often, always to grab their "wild shroom" pizza" which is delish- has shiitake, Bella and button mushrooms. And just in general, they have superb pizza! It's also a really great atmosphere (if you can find it) it's located in Troy Center on a little county road, nestled between houses- so be careful or you may drive by! Tonight, my experience was less than stellar. I should have just stuck to pizza, but instead ordered the fish fry. I couldn't help it, I saw "lightly breaded, pan fried walleye". Now I must admit that I can be finicky when it comes to fish fry's- and tend to only eat them if they are fresh off the boat and done in my own back yard. I hate beer batter and I hate soggy fish. But, the waitress sang praises, so I took the road less traveled. My dinner was supposed to come with a side salad, which never came and I reminded her about when the fish actually came out. Okay- fine. And it was a basic iceberg salad with a slice of tomato. On to the fish... It was not hand breaded at all, but rather beer battered, it was lightly beer battered AND it was lightly, but this is not breaded. Then the worst.... Full of bones. It was so much work to clean each bite (in which you have to completely pull the breaking off to do) that I gave up three bites in. Thank hid my brilliant family stuck to pizza and ordered enough that I could eat that as well. While I will never order fish here again, I will be back for their pizza. Fantastic food!!! My family and I love their baked cod and pizza! Great pasta dishes too, and decent prices!! Plus, you get shelled peanuts and get to throw the shells on the floor - just like the best places I used to go to as a kid!! Docked one star because sometimes service leaves a little to be desired, but it's a small place that gets jam packed fast on Friday nights! Sadly it looks like there was a fire there recently, and I am waiting to see if and when they announce a reopening! Edit 9/20/14: Not sure when they reopened, but they are open again! Stopped in for dinner to try their steak, and the food was as good as it previously was! Service left a bit to be desired tonight. The table next to us got peanuts and silverware, we had to get our own peanuts and ask for silverware.. We had to share our napkins with the other table though. read more

We went here last night for a birthday dinner! Friday night fish fry was amazing! One of the best I have ever had. Walleye was superb and so were all the sides. The rest of us had the hand breaded haddock and that was awesome as well! Love throwing peanuts on the floor! We will be back! read more

Went there on a Tuesday night and had Jolene as our waitress. She was great! Ordered the eggplant fries for an appetizer and the pizza for dinner. Toppings were fresh and delicious- especially the sausage! Great food, great service! We'll be back for sure. :) read more

This was our second visit to Barley's. We love local taverns, especially for traditional Wisconsin fish fry. During our first visit, the food was good, service was poor (rude, inattentive waitress) so we decided to try again going earlier to avoid the Friday nite fish fry crowd. Service was better, but still not great. Two of the four of us had salad with our dinners. Mine contained several pieces of very brown lettuce and an anemic tomato wedge. I didn't eat much of the salad, but the two of us with salads ended up very ill several hours later--chills, nausea, GI distress. Won't be back. read more

Inconsistencies with quality of ribs. Sometimes they are fall off the bone. But other times they are tough and chewy. Chicken is always good! Waitress staff are always polite and friendly. Burgers are good but it's hard to get them cooked medium properly at times. If they could insure the ribs and burgers were cooked properly I'd rate them 4's instead of 3. read more

We're not comparing this place to 5 star restaurants, we're reviewing it on a place that serves the type of food they do. Everything has been redone inside, clean bathrooms and good food. Big portions too. No one I was with finished their plates and no one had anything bad to say about the place. Will definitely be coming back here every time I'm going to Alpine for music. read more

Horrible experience on a Friday night! Owner was rude upon adding our name to wait list. Once seated waitress left us for a good 10 mins before even coming to our table to take our drink order while another waitress stared at us and cleaned tables. Food was awful & soggy, potato pancakes tasted as if they were drenched in fish water. Soggy sandwhiches. Best part of our meal was the canned cokes we drank! Waited for over 15 mins for our bill & they weren't even busy! Never again! Barleys is not what it used to be! read more

This CLOSED pub and eatery was much to my supprise up and running. I looked online for some "specials" and was quite surprised to see here on YELP that the often enjoyed pub was supposedly closed. I am sure glad that we took a ride past the pub to see maybe 10 vehicles in the lot. The parking lot is somewhat messy (traffic bond gravel) but once you get inside we were greeted and seated immediately. The server and I assume the server in training were both polite , prompt and wonderful hosts. We ordered pizza and beverages and enjoyed the beverage with the complimentary salted in the shell peanuts (shells on the floor, makes it kinda fun) until our pizza arrived. The thin crust CSMO was too hot to enjoy at first but once it cooled slightly was as good as I remembered. Fantastic pizza, and I have previously enjoyed fish, sour cream and chive fries stc. and all have been enjoyed. Keep patronizing the CLOSED gem and maybe YELP will update the listing so that folks wont be confused. Its a little ride but well worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BARLEYS HOPS AND MALT ... This place was god awful. Owner was of no help, he slurped his beer and gawked at us, made no attempt to help us. Waitress was more interested in cleaning tables than waiting on us and they were not that busy. Potatoe pancakes tasted more like fish than the fish itself. Waited 25 minutes for a table after being put on a list and then asked what we were waiting for. Terrible experience. Wont ever go back! read more
