We were really impressed by how much we loved the mead! This isn't your standard mead - it's not high ABV and super sweet - it's bubbly, light, and refreshing (and gluten free). It reminded us of cider we had in France! So, so good. The service was wonderful and so friendly - the bartender Ellie explained the meads and poured us samples before we settled on a flight. They have a gorgeous interior with a stage for live music, but it was nice out so we enjoyed our drinks on the patio. We took home some mead to go! We'll definitely be back. read more

I visited the Hive back in Oct 2021. It has a great community feeling and staff were very friendly. I liked my flight of mead and left with a 4 pack of the samples I tried. I would return and would encourage others to visit, especially considering how unique it is specializing in mead. Otherwise, it has the atmosphere of a craft brewery with some food options and flights. My one gripe is the lack of Wi-Fi. My friendly bartender opined that their lack of Wi-Fi was in the interest of encouraging conversation and, perhaps, a simpler creative ambiance. That's groovy, but it also meant that I felt somewhat inconvenienced with an inability to use my iPad, including to put in the Yelp review I am now putting in months later. Went there on a Saturday night. The music was great. They only serve mead. It's a wine beer concoction that not everyone has a taste for. Even if you don't drink there are not many options, seltzer water or some strange non alcoholic beverage flavor. WHY NOT offer normal beer and wine TOO !!!!! A refreshing & unique place. It was our first experience with mead. The bartender Amy was so patient, kind & informative. I was surprised at all the different flavor combinations, far more variety than I imagined, you are bound to find a favorite or two & the combo you like the best might surprise you. Very quaint little brewery nestled in a countryside setting. Most all of their ales and mead are made with pure Wisconsin honey. The hives are "on property." Many flavors of mead to choose from... You can order a flight (which consists of four small samplers) in case you're in experimental stage. Otherwise you can order the full size beverage. They also sell their beverages and 16 ounce cans, which the bottle on premises. The staff is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have. They also serve pretzels and flatbreads to satisfy your hunger needs. A lot of room, outside seating inside and out. Some nights they have local entertainment. Definitely a return trip. read more

We love this place! Felt so welcomed the minute we walked in. Very knowledgeable and passionate bar staff that know their mead and help you navigate which ones your palate would most enjoy. Their Cranky gluten free flatbread pizzas were THE best! I highly recommend the garlic mozzarella pizza and a mead flight before you decide on one of their many choices. The outside area is so beautiful. Big trees, sofas, adirondacks, little lights, baggo.... Dog & family friendly. Easy Troy also has a quaint downtown to meander through. We will be back. Great place, great vibe, relaxed and family friendly. Live music and food trucks round out the most amazing Mead (honey wine) which drinks like a cold, carbonated beer/wine, tagged as 'the better buzz' because it is gluten free. Family owned and operated, with brewing on site, The Hive Taproom has something for everyone. Shuffleboard, board games, card games, puzzles. You can bring the family, hangout with friends, or just chill at the bar and get to know the owners and locals who have claimed this as their space to chill. We have been there several times now and can't wait to go back. I hear they will also be adding Yoga classes and cycling events. read more

Cute little place with decent mead. A little pricey. The bigger problem is that I was enjoying a nice evening with my partner and witnessed the owner of the Taproom behave extremely rude towards one of the workers. This sweet young girl had worn a mask to work and he was very obvious about making her feel uncomfortable for wearing it. I then watched him tell another worker to ask her to leave. She was working hard, they were very busy. They boast all are welcome with signs and displays but it is clear that this is nothing more than a cover to appear accepting to others. I will not visit again if this is how employees are treated. Sad. read more

I can't say enough good things about The Hive. The space has a great vibe and the session meads are great anytime, but especially after a nearby hike or bike ride. One of the owners spent a lot of time talking to us about how The Hive got started and about some cool places to bike/hike in the area. Will definitely be back again and again. read more

We went to the Hive for the first time yesterday and had an amazing experience. The people working were extremely knowledgeable about Mead which was a foreign concept for me. They made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. I had read that they were dog friendly but was planning to sit in the outside area. My wife went in alone at first and was thrilled to hear the dogs are actually welcome in the Taproom. Of course we were respectful of others and sat in an area where non dog people would not feel uncomfortable and our dogs are well behaved but this will be a nice road trip after a walk etc. They had a food vendor from Simple selling amazing food as well. I am completely hooked on Mead the tastes are very unique and although I am more of a beer guy I think I have found a new favorite drink. We are planning a return visit very soon with friends. Would highly recommend a short drive to East Troy to experience The Hive Taproom. read more
