What a GREAT fish fry! I had the broiled cod, my husband had the perch. Our friends had walleye breaded cod. All of us concurred it was delicious! This restaurant has a very limited menu, which I knew going in, so no big deal, however when your main item is pizza, I expect it to be good; it was terrible. I ordered the piggy luau pizza: cream cheese, cheese, pineapple, bacon and Canadian bacon. Everything was from a can, the pineapple chunks were too big and fell off immediately, the sauce has no flavor and the crust was blah and bacon was from a bag of real bacon pieces. They did put a ton of toppings on, but they weren't good. My daughter had the kids meal cheese pizza, which she didn't like either but it did come with fries and cinnamon apples which was nice. Yes, you'll recognize every item on The Cruise's menu, however they put their own spin and presentation on every, single, dish. Their kitchen expo needs a raise! Bravo! We're going to have to eventually try something other than the fish fry here. It is really good though, so I guess we'll have to make a trip to the Cruise on a day other than Friday! What can you say? From the fish itself, to the accompaniments like the clam chowder, to desserts like the flourless chocolate cake, all the food is great. They also have some good bartenders who can make a really good drink. Name should be The Curse! In fairness, the old fashioned's were very good, as was the service and that's about it. Ordered broiled cod on the Friday Fish Fry and the fish was dried out. It had to have sat under a heat lamp for a while. We also ordered the boneless wings with bbq sauce. The wings were clearly poured from a food service supply bag and were not even recognizable as any part of a chicken. They were soaked through with grease and heavy, thick bbq sauce. We gave them back and had to ask to have them removed from our bill. Our server had to obviously make the gentleman, who I assume was the manager/owner aware of our issue. I feel he was not 100% wanting to give us the credit. He also made us feel as though our issue was not of any concern. I would have expected him to at least check with us about the food, but instead failed to take the opportunity to speak with a dissatisfied customer and possibly apologize for the poor quality. We'll just make it easy for him and won't return. People who have submitted reviews saying this is good quality food must be used to eating out of dumpsters. read more

The Cruise is a cool open setting with a massive U shape bar that serves a whole lot of brandy and whiskey old fashions, just how I like it! The Pretzel with stone ground mustard and garlic dipping sauces is my favorite appetizer. It is addicting ly delicious and I could keep eating them. As for entrees my favorite food to eat at The Cruise is by far the Friday fish fry and i always get the Bluegill fish fry. Best Bluegill fish fry that I have had. And I have to say it actually all worked together very well. I tried different combination on the plate and all worked. The pork belly was cooked perfect as well. Then for a main dish I tried the duck leg. The duck was perfect I would have loved a crunchy outside but not an easy task when it is confit. It was toped with candied orange peel and it was outstanding. Even the mash potatoes were great. The green beans were the only thing I can say I wasn't impressed with. We found this place on accident a couple of years ago and love it. Try to make it back every few months. Love the carnitas chips - their version of pork nachos with red peppers, onions, beans, corn and the lime and cilantro bring out the flavors. For dinner the pizzas are always amazing and the duck confit panini is my favorite. If you are a craft beer lover you will love this place. All central waters beers on tap - along with plenty of bottles from other breweries - and most are rare that you won't find at the majority of bars around Milwaukee. My husband and I stopped in on Veterans Day for a quick bite. We opted for a seat at the bar. There were 2 large parties there and the staff was courteous enough to advise us to get our order in soon if we were dealing with a time constraint. Food was stellar! Owner noticed my husband was wearing his Desert Storm cap and engaged him in conversation and thanked him for his service and was kind to toast us with Redbreast Whiskey. So kind! Service: Prompt, I never have waited long, every time I have gone year, I always have to leave a good tip. Bar: They have a very extensive beer list, stuff is not always on the menu, don't be afraid to ask. They also do beer nights, so make sure you keep in the know about that. Food: I have yet to embrace the food but the food looks and smells amazing. Long story short : food was good service was horrible. When our food came it was in a to go bag - prior to this we were asked dining in or out and we stated in. The bartender- server argued that he asked us twice and we said take out weird but ok we can let this one slide. The food came to us the soup was now warm not hot, the chicken was not sesame but chipotle which I am not a fan of and would never order. The bartender again argued that "he was the one who took the order and I said spicy chipotle". Which again did not. I said no it was sweet and spicy sesame. I am SO happy to have found a restaurant I love in the Waterford area. I grew up in this area of Wisconsin, but after I moved away to college and became a food snob, I realized that the great restaurants in my hometown are truly lacking. I liked this place so much I ate here two days in a row while I was in town. It might not look like much from the outside, but The Cruise is located in a very cool building. The entryway is welcoming and then when you enter the bar/dining area you will see that the room is very long with dining booths on the left and a bar along the right. It's weird in a really cool way and I was intrigued as soon as we walked in. More importantly, the food hit the spot. This place has the best onion rings I have ever had. They are standard rings (not the straw-type) and I want it to be known that The Cruise has somehow engineered their onion rings so that you will not bite into them, pull the entire onion out, and then slap yourself in the face with it while still holding a hollowed-out fried ring of disappointment and nothingness. This is the all-time #1 fault of onion rings everywhere.... and somehow The Cruise has created a ring that rarely allows this to happen. I do not question how this has been accomplished, I merely marvel in the success of modern onion ring engineering. Also, the horseradish sauce that accompanies these rings is outstanding and I thought about eating the last of it with my finger but couldn't bring myself to do so out of my own fears of public perception. Another highlight was the burger. The meat was cooked perfectly, the burger was nice and buttery, and there was a lot of flavor in all of the ingredients. One of the better burgers I've ever had. Good-but-not-great: the wings and the pizza. The wings had great taste and a great chunky bleu cheese dressing... but they lacked the crispness that I strive for with all chicken wing skin that I consume. The pizza was good, but I like a higher sauce-to-crust ratio and their medium crust just ended up making the pizza taste a little too bready to me. I am particular about this though, so I will order my next pizza "extra-sauce" and see if that does the trick. Service was great at both visits and prices are really reasonable for this high quality food because this restaurant is out in the sticks. We ate some of the more bar-food'ish items by chance, but there are plenty of gourmet offerings on this big menu. It's obvious that they are using high quality ingredients here and the great flavors show that. Check them out if you're in the Waterford/Tichigan area - I hope they are able to strive here. Another great restaurant almost in walking distance - but I still get in the car because there is no way that I could walk back home! This last year they changed their menu to a much smaller selection. But I have to say after trying most of the things on the new menu - everything is done well. I take the kids there for sweet potato fries... these aren't the skinny soggy no-taste kind that you get everywhere else - they really know how to make them awesome! And the cucumber dipping sauce is to die for. They do need to give more sauce though! I've been there for the fish fry - the place is usually packed but waiting time isn't bad... I love the grouper when they have it - some of the best fried fish around. And I'm always looking for a good fish fry you know. The kids love the pizza, and if you are into proving how much you can eat ask them about their pizza challenge - I'm a wimp and would never even try it. The building is new and very open. There is live music every week and it's a nice place to go for date night or to get out with the kids. I have been going to The Cruise since before the food was gourmet and it was a VFW post. The new building allowed for a greater bar, food and atmosphere. Let's start with the bar. Weekly tasting of microbreweries is awesome. Great cooler selection. Food - if you are a goat cheese fan, this should be your new haven. I love it and I can get it on almost everything here. They also have burgers, sandwiches, good appetizers and amazing pizzas. There take-out pizza is insane. While sitting and eating a meal, I counted 12 people picking up pizzas one night! Atmosphere - there are TVs all over, video games, cards at each table and live entertainment on the weekends - be it a band or karoake -- The Cruise is rocking. So my sister & I split the fish fry and ordered an extra side (house salad). She ate the huge salad & I had the sweet potato fries. They were among the best I've had. Perch was superb!! Moist and flavorful. Beer batter was crisp and lightly seasoned. My sister even commented that the tartar sauce was good. First time here... Food exceeded my wildest expectations. They have an eclectic selection of micro brews. My wife and I shared a bourbon barrel stout with Door County cherries from Central Waters. I strongly recommend it if you like stouts. We also shared duck crostini. The duck was tender and paired well with the goat cheese and blueberries. My wife called it "amazing." My two year old couldn't stop eating the blueberries. My wife had the cherry chutney grilled chicken sandwich. I had the bourbon cherry burger (picking up on the cherry theme here?). She told me she was jealous she didn't get the burger too. The brioche buns were better than most restaurant brioche buns I've had. I'm partial to the EuroClassic buns found at Whole Foods and Fresh Market. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The goat cheese was very good. The Angus burger was cooked medium - which is a rare find. The caramelized onions and healthy helping of cherries made this burger standout as one of my favorites. My wife and I are burger snobs. In my opinion it ranks right up there with Kuma's in Chicago and although it is not grass fed also a good substitute for DMK (Chicago and Lombard, IL) if you find yourself visiting the Elegant Farmer in Mukwonago or SE Wisconsin. The service was friendly and attentive enough. Bathroom cleanliness was average. TVs had Sunday Night Football airing. Playing cards and Trivial Pursuit was available if you planned to stay a while. Plus there were various arcade games to distract the kids. There's a good chance we'll make it a tradition to stop by here on our annual trips to go apple picking at the Elegant Farmer. read more

You guys, this place is outstanding. I was a bit weary when I first saw the menu. Unique, adventurous flavor combinations and a big selection of dishes. For starters: Sconnie Crostini - Bacon, brat, ale onions, cheddar and a heavy hand of grain mustard on toasted bread. YES. MORE. PLEASE. Pork Belly - Blueberries and pork belly work so well together. Who knew! Could have used a less mild cheese than mozzarella, maybe goat or gorgonzola, but overall an excellent dish. For main: We split two 9" pizzas. They were the perfect size for (4) people to have one large slice. Duck Pizza - Beautiful, tender shredded duck with balsamic glaze and goat cheese. I mean, come on. Pineapple Pico - Chicken, pineapple, sriracha cream, bacon. The perfect sweet, spicy and salty combination. For dessert: DO NOT SKIP DESSERT. The Candied Bacon Creme Brûlée. Just order it. Trust me. Usually, to get food of this high quality, you have to endure a bit of snobbery. Not the case at The Cruise. We felt immediately comfortable. The staff was warm and friendly.
