On top of the organ was a bell--we rang the bell and shortly after the brick wall swung open and a woman came out to greet us. She had us play a tune on the organ and then brought us back into the speakeasy. The vibes are pitch perfect. Dimly lit with candles on tables and artful films playing on screens. We loved it. We were greeted straight away and brought water. You can also get a full meal here which we did not know but noted for our next visit. They had a special Valentine's menu as well as their regular cocktail menu. For my first cocktail, I got the paper plane which was light, lemony, and lovely with the adorable touch of a small paper plane pinned to the cocktail with a clothespin. For my second, I got one of their Valentine's specials which was essentially a Boulevardier made with a small float of mezcal on top. What an amazing addition to this classic cocktail! Our cousin knew of the Blue Goose and assumed they had fish. He was right. As we walked in (around 4:30 pm on the 4th of July), it was loud. We ordered: - Fried Cod with Fries and Coleslaw - Fried Walleye with Fries and Coleslaw - Fried Catfish Tacos with Potato Pancakes and Apple Sauce - We had beers too: Summer Shandy x 2 and Spotted Cow The beer was cold and refreshing. The food came maybe 10 minutes later. I had the 2-pc Fried Walleye and it was fabulous! Two large filets, lightly breaded and fried to perfection. And so tasty. Our cousin had the Cod and enjoyed it as well. My wife had the Fried Walleye Tacos and enjoyed them too. As this was her first time here, she didn't know the tacos would come completely dressed with the coleslaw on the tacos already or she would have ordered the coleslaw on the side. Her potato pancakes were very good. And while the rustic, hand-cut fries were good, I liked the potato pancakes more and will get them next time. My wife and I each took half our meals home and will enjoy them for lunch tomorrow. We had a few questions about the area and asked random staff who passed by and they always knew the answers. I noticed that someone else wrote about it maybe not being the best place for kids, but I would say that probably depends on the time of the day. It is definitely a bar so be prepared for that. That being said, the food is great! I especially loved their wings with their signature rub/sauce. Very filling with so much chicken. We also went with a take out of the double decker pizza thanks to the recommendation made by our bartender, Jen! She said she is there almost every day and she was just the sweetest. We went back nearly every day during our stay just to see her and have some more drinks. Everything was super affordable and it is definitely worth the trip, even though it is off the beaten path.

Then we had to get in the back of the line behind people who just showed up. This weekend, I was excited to take my guests from Ireland for some fish and chips. I called four times before driving our boat over to ask about to go service, but no one picked up. After driving across the lake, we were informed there was a 45 minute wait for a table inside, they were not serving food outside, only drinks, and they were not serving food to-go. It was one of the most disrespectful experiences I've had as a customer, and I was super embarrassed as a host.
