I really like their soup and they have wonderful sandwiches and usually they have a little special sheet that has something interesting on it. The beet salad is a winner. Stopped by the East Troy House while passing through Wisconsin and was pleasantly surprised. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a welcoming, classic tavern feel with plenty of local charm, lots of history and fun décor on the walls that makes it cozy but lively.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Beer Cheese burger was spot-on: juicy, perfectly cooked, and stacked with fresh toppings. I also tried the buffalo cheese curds, crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, with just the right amount of kick from the buffalo sauce. Easily some of the best curds I've had in the area. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the food came out quickly even though the place was busy. Prices felt fair for the quality and portion size. Great service and good. HOWEVER, if you order their new Seafood Chowder, which was one of the best CHOWDERS I've ever had, bring your own soup spoon from home! They have a soup spoon that's almost completely flat and you can't get anything on the spoon. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not!!! They need better soup spoons that can hold SOUP. read more

Had family in town from FL over the weekend and decided to try something new for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the building is beautiful and so historic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated right away, although we weren't greeted by waitstaff for a good 10 minutes, service was decent after the beginning. We all ordered something different and mostly enjoyed. My parents each had a burger, one was the beer cheese burger and one was classic. They both said the burger itself was delicious but the beer cheese was too heavily loaded onto the one. My husband has the salmon risotto and enjoyed it; salmon was cooked perfectly but risotto could have been done a bit better. I had the Caesar wrap which wasn't great, to much lettuce that was hot inside and the dressing wasn't very Caesar-y. We did also get pretzel bites for an appetizer with the beer cheese and it was very good, although the amount of garlic in the cheese was intense so if you're not into garlic I'd recommend skipping this. Lastly my daughter read the chicken fingers and fries kids meal and it came with a go-gurt as well. Overall we would return but try something new. read more

Went there for a family party. It is in a cool town square in of all places; East Troy. Nice family owned small town cool Wisconsin bar. Not a better place to be on a Saturday night . Most folks has a drink in there hand and a smile on there face. I have it on good authority the food is good. I'll be stopping back. read more

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Very few patrons had face masks on especially as it got busier around lunch. Our server wore a mask but the bartender did not. The big pretzel was excellent! Cream cheese/beer cheese dip was good. The fries were enjoyed by all. The general tso cauliflower was crispy and had a good spice to the sauce. Good beer selection. It's also connected to a cute store down the hallway which was a nice way to wrap up the afternoon. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by! read more

After shopping at a nearby gourmet grocery, my friend and I stopped for lunch at the East Troy House. The interior was similar to a rustic pub. Attractive wood topped tables added to the look. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was served on a pretzel bun. Pork and crispy onions were stacked high. The pork was tender with just the right amount of sauce. The sandwich was a tall artistic tower that made us smile. The salad used good quality spring mix greens with a house vinaigrette. The serving was generous and a little more than I could eat. The server was pleasant and helpful. Before leaving we enjoyed viewing the historic pictures that showed the building in the past - back to horse and carriage days. We enjoyed conversing with the owner about his cute rescued dog that was looking out the window of the office. Overall, I would recommend visiting this neighborhood restaurant. I've had lunch at East Troy House twice now and both times I have been happy and dissatisfied with both visits. The food is ok. I'd recommend a burger or a wrap. Don't expect either to be the best sandwich you've ever had. It's pretty mediocre. Bloody Mary's are just the right amount of spicy and tasty. Kids chicken tenders are really good. My kids ate them no problem! However, the mini corn dogs came out burnt. We waited so long for the food that it wasn't worth sending it back. The service was unfriendly. Have you ever felt scared to order a water? That's how I felt with our waitress. To her defense, she was taking care of the bar and our table, but I still don't believe that should be an excuse for rudeness. read more

My wife had the Bang Bang Chicken Wrap and it was great, too. If you're hungry, get the enormous pretzel! We asked for mustard with it, though. Started out with this great big baked soft pretzel and beer cheese dip for an appetizer. Then we had bang bang chicken wraps...it was out of this world. Quaint little bar, with the microbrewery on the side. The staff was attentive and very polite. Prices are reasonable, it's just a good place to hang after work. Stopped after Lake Geneva golf and am really impressed with the dinner, the service and how cool the inside decor is at this East Troy landmark just off I-43. The Corned Beef sandwhich I had rivals Benji's deli in Milwaukee and by golf buddy said his Burger was outstanding. The building itself is an awesome, historical place, and it's right on The Square. They kept the old flooring from the bowling alley that used to be there, and it's just beautifully renovated. We sat at the bar to eat. Despite it getting busy shortly after we got there, the bartender was quick and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and came out quickly. The bartender lady (the owner?) came chasing out after my wife and I, both both in our late 70s, blocked our passage on the sidewalk, and accused us rudely of not paying our tab, of skipping out of the bar bill. Worse, when we explained nicely to her that - after waiting ten minutes to get her attention to pay our bill - we simply paid the other bartender, she didn't have the courtesy or breeding to apologize and just walked back inside. Nasty person! Plus, the gin and tonic was so weak. I had three - at $6 s pop, not cheap at all, double some bar's prices - and didn't feel a buzz. Do they cut the stuff with water? And the building may be old but the decor is standard pub design, nothing special. ZERO stars for the rudest bartender I ever encountered and the bar/resto is a mediocre joint living off the fact that it is old. read more

I am not from the area but decided to call a pick up order in when I was close by for a work event. I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it was very good. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the service. When I called the order in I asked if I could replace the fries with the Buffalo cheese curds and was willing to pay the extra $ for the side. I was rudely advised that this was not possible. When I went to pick up the order the bartender asked how they could help me I told the worker I had a pick up order and the worker proceeded to help the next guest at the bar rather than acknowledging me. I like the old charm the place had. I made the mistake by sitting on the bar side because between talking and music it was loud when trying to have a conversation. The restaurant side is cuter and more for conversations (didn't realize there was a restaurant and a bar side as this was my first time here).
