Stopped at Barleys after a massage because it was convenient but I had heard mixed reviews. The pizza was good. My salad was really good. It wasn't very busy and they were bothered by my leisurely solo lunch. My waitress was attentive and efficient. Went for lunch Sunday for a pizza and a calzone. The calzone was solid though maybe a little pricey. It comes with a little plastic cup of marinara though a 2nd one costs extra. Spent $28 for a large Caribbean pie which sounded great on paper- jerk chicken, spinach, artichoke hearts etc. The chicken was a total disappointment with zero spice or flavor and the sparce other toppings were just eh. Pros: Very cute location, staff was very nice and attentive. No liquor but they have a large selection of rotating beer on draft and in cans and bottles. Good selection of beers and hard ciders. Cons: pizza was ok but not my style. Crust had almost a crunchy, toast consistency. Tasted ok but the texture was not good to me. Also got spinach and artichoke dip that was very blended but then seemed to have a ton of Parmesan cheese added afterwards because it was quite gritty feeling. read more

I highly recommend the rueben. I get these everywhere I go and this was one of the best! The calzones here are unmatched anywhere else in Rutherford County. Service was fine - grew up in Ruth and some family/friends that are still locals tried to tell me at one point there was always a long wait for food no matter how many people were in the restaurant; however that didn't seem to be an issue when I went. Decent amount of people in and out of the restaurant and no one else seemed to be waiting a long time either. Highly suggest stopping in for a calzone. Does not disappoint read more

Found barleys on yelp and it is an absolute gem!!!! The ambience inside is so amazing. They have two separate rooms, there is a live music room and then another room which is a little quieter and easier for conversation!! Both rooms have amazing vibes. The staff was extremely nice and the food was spectacular!!! Will definitely be returning. Only downside as we try to order food online the day before going in person and the app they use wasn't working. We also try to place an order by phone, but couldn't get anyone. read more

We went there on Wednesday. When you walk in you have to wait to be seated. We stood there for a while before someone acknowledged us. We were told they wouldn't seat us because we were 4 minutes late. I feel like they let us stand there so they wouldn't have to seat us. We will not be back. We went hiking at Linville falls and were heading back to Florida and searched Yelp for a place for lunch. Barley taproom was it. On the main drag in a small town in North Carolina loaded with charm. The pizza was spot on and they had a fantastic beer selection. If you are nearby don't hesitate to stop in and grab a pie and a drink. Service was spot on as well! read more

The voodoo chicken is very good. Their pizza is great. Their chili is very good. Something went wrong with the Reuben. They described it as "sliced corned beef with sauerkraut, swiss cheese & 1000 island dressing". WELL all of that was mixed together like a tuna fish salad sandwich - what the heck! read more

First, awesome atmosphere. TVs with sports and lots of vintage signs and beer bottles on the walls. Music playing but not loud and good tunes. It's nice to have a place with a lot going on but can still talk to the person across from you without yelling. Second, great service. Servers were friendly and paid attention to little things like bringing extra ice and napkins without having to ask. And last but not least , the FOOD! I ordered a hot turkey sub with a side of the best potato salad I have ever had. Sub came with a sauce on the side that knocked my socks off. Perfect place to stop on the Thermal Belt Trail. Pizza is excellent and I'd come to Spindale just for that even if I weren't biking.

Always delicious and service is impeccable. Ambiance is sometimes too loud, but tolerable. It's a place to relax and chill.

Being a Sunday not too many Places open. So we were in the area and have never tried this place out. I read the reviews and thought the food must be amazing. When we walked in we asked a couple eating how the pizza was. The girl had never had it before but the guy said he liked it. Then he recommended to get Fiddle sticks, he said they were dunked in a hot sauce then baked and they were great! So once seated we said that was what we wanted to try first. You get ranch with it to dunk them in. I wanted Blue cheese she gave us both. We didn't know what to expect. Let's say they are like a bread stick, and they just put this "fiddle sticks" sauce on them. Sticky a. Little spicy taste. First taste was like ehhh, the more you ate while hot and dunked into the dressing they were addicting. :-) The dressing was good, the blue cheese I really liked it was made with small chucks of blue cheese in it. These were $6.99. We also got a 14" All American pizza they called it. Had 5 toppings on it, peppers, onions, sausage, pepperoni and I think the cheese counted as the 5th topping. She said they hand toss them and the dough isn't real thick. I told her I like mine thinner I am not into thick dough pizza. So this came out, it was a thin crust was crunchy like a cracker crust. We have a favorite place in Forest City Louie's pizza so we wanted to see if bar pizza was going to beat his pizza. My opinion no. I ate 2 pieces , the peppers were bitter. The crust was good. To me it just didn't hit me , kinda bland not much of a taste to me. My husband enjoyed it he agreed about the peppers being bitter and hard. He ate the rest of the slices since it was thin. He said it wasn't as good as Louie's but he enjoyed it. This was $20 a bit high for the size. Personally I would not get the pizza again, he said he enjoyed it. The fiddle sticks we both agreed they were ok but would not get them again. Seemed like the bar does a great business, they have 20 different beers on tap as well as bottled beers too. I guess if we come back we would try some other things they have. Not one of my favorite places. read more

Put it this way, I drive 20+ miles to Barleys and have plenty of places nearby. Barleys is value for money. But oh-so much more. it's an eclectic people mix of young and older, moms n' dads, grandkids, work colleagues, "regulars", ex-military, first responders, punk rockers, many political views, occasional preacher or two, all sitting side by side enjoying what Barleys does the best; it offers really tasty food, a great mix of craft beers, attentive service in a friendly easy-going atmosphere. I don't know of any place within 50 miles either direction that comes close. Enjoy! And make sure you ask for "Shark" if you sit at the bar! read more

I found this place via Mapquest looking for a place to it closest to my hotel. It a nice open, but homey restaurant. It's a locally owned pizzeria, but it serves other food in the menu like steaks. There's 3 of us in my group, we are all starving so we asked what is the specialty for tonight. The waiter recommended the steak dinner special. I was excited, but to my disappointment my steak was a cut-up salty sirloin steak with overcooked and cold carrots that's unseasoned. It also comes with a roll that's hard. So for the food, the rating is 1/5. For the restaurant and the waiter who seemed very attentive and fast to refill my water the rating is 5/5. I should have ordered pizza because that's their specialty, I know my food experience might be different. read more

We enjoyed our meal at Barley's as always. My husband loves the beer offered there and they have lots of IPAs . We both had the Ruben sandwich since we had pizza earlier. The sides were great. Someone from the hometown kept telling me Barleys is the best pizza around, so I had to try it! There are 2 sides to Barleys you can sit it, I've always sat in the game room side. (Fuseball and some arcade games) In my life time I've had the Carribbean Jerk Chicken Pizza and All American Pizza - each time it has come with the perfect amount of sauce ratio. No skimping on the toppings either. The sauce ratio is perfect, example: right at the crust there's the always just enough to accompany a bite of crust. (usually I dip in red sauce - don't have too here!) Beef Stew - Wanted soup and this was the soup of the day, craving was satisfied. Perfect ratio to veggie, beef and stew. This says a lot for a Wednesday evening. The waitress was very attentive and had some good suggestions for our first time. The beer list was very fluid due to high turnover. That's good!
